First of all, special thanks to my friends (you know who you are) for getting me talking about Star Trek again because it was thanks to them that I decided to revisit my star trek folder in fcp, just for curiosity's sake. I expected to find two neglected WIPs that I hoped to get back to one day. I did not expect to find a third project, that was ENTIRELY COMPLETED. And that I had ENTIRELY FORGOTTEN the existence of for ALMOST EIGHT MONTHS OTL
So, you really ought to thank them or it's likely this project wouldn't have seen the light of day for another 6 months lmao.
I love these two, no matter the version. I will always have further opinions and mixed feelings (and meta thoughts, but that's a whole other can of worms) but it'll always boil down to: I love Kirk and Spock. I wanted to edit TOS first (even tho I got into AOS first) but alas, I don't have the footage yet to be able to. So that'll have to wait.
Anyway, as I was rewatching it, my memory was jogged and I remembered that I began this project because I was 1. getting nowhere with my other ones, as I was losing steam and 2. because I wanted to challenge myself by using the minimal amount of dialogue as I could, while taking my time with scenes, trying out slow-mo (while not dragging it out) especially during a song with hardly any lyrics. I often feel the need to include dialogue during instrumental songs/the non-lyrical parts of a song - or at least, to use the dialogue as a checkpoint/anchor - so this was me trying to do the opposite. To let the visual and the instrumental carry it the most. I think I did ok!
