It was quite a shock!

to best communicate to the viewer that something was off the first person to sing needed to be the most unlikely. Therefore he was the logical choice. From there the next step had to be a duet. Then an ensemble progressively demonstrating the extent of the anomaly. If it was anything less than that it could be interpreted as an isolated problem, or a single person who was just being silly. If someone at your job started to sing for no reason would you even raise an eyebrow? probably not.

of course... Spock falls in love, sings... This season clearly portrayed his human side, too!

Honestly at this point I've heard more "I thought it was going to be bad, but I liked it" about musical episodes than I've actually seen people say a musical episode was bad.

Some of the best Trek episodes are the ones where they're not afraid to be a little silly.

It took the genius formula from Lower Decks of "Star Trek, but we do X" and translated it beautifully to live action. Truly the BEST (And let's face it, only properly good) new trek.

I got to compliment Ethan Peck and Christina Chong's singing voices at Toronto Comicon... it was kind of awesome, because it was Sunday everyone had their autographs already, and so I got to actually TALK to them for a while since there was nobody lined up.

Yeah I kinda like how she is basically written as an opposition to overly complex super deep characters. She flies. She's the best at it. And everyone loves her for being super authentic and straight forward. A well written character doesn't need to have over9000 layers to their personality.

I loved Una's part in this, how her voice transitioned from dampner to hampered, and into all is okay. I watched this intro about 5 times before I got through the whole episode even once!

great episode, great season! ST Discovery, ST Strange New Worlds, Star Trek Picard, Star Trek Lower Decks, Star Trek Prodigy clearly carried the bar even higher levels that no other TV series can't even reach. (yes, I have intentionally added Prodigy & Lower Decks to annoy some conservative boomers!)

I am not sure I like it. I am sure however that I will watch it religiously, multiple times, until I find out.

@@canonest I can't yet get into the animated series even though as a kid I watch the original series version. I have enough of what I like as it is. Picard S3 was excellent but S1 and S2 were just okay. Discovery started the revival but I don't see any more storyline left.

Musicals are not for everyone, I really dislike them... however, a well executed song will always be enjoyable, regardless of the awkwardness of the situation. This first song was decent, Spock had the best solo act of the entire episode (his "I'm the X" song is legitimately good), then Klingons as comedy relieve... really, even if you despise musicals, those moments are so entertaining, if you are not dead inside, you will at least crack a little smile (I mean, a vulkan calculating a romantic breakup, this is great)

Sadly not .. on IMDB the reviews are mixed with leaning to bad ...

For what it's worth? as a die-hard trekkie...I had no clue I needed Star Trek: The Musical, in my life...but i'm fucking glad that I have it. This is just a masterpiece. It's everything that Trek is. The Unknown of space, bites them, and even in their weirdest moment, they're still doing their jobs.@@canonest

What's really interesting is the crewman, and yes I include the ladies in this term, in the background behind Pike playing the Communications console like an organist would a pipe organ. That was brilliant on the shows part or even on the part of the cast member if they did it spontaneously while videoing. I would have said filming but they don't do that any more. Too bad about that because the blooper reels for this show would be so much fun to see.
