Explains how records are made, why other cleaning methods do not work, understanding record ionization with the Kirmuss process and how it removes the record's release agent (Pressing Oil) that accounts for pops created at the pressing plant. Not all ultrasonics are the same, most are bubblers and coat records. Understand why the Kirmuss process does not need vacuum or air drying once a record is restored.

Hi Charles. I have what seems to be a practical question, at least to me. I know you consider the Degritter to be a "bubbler". Since cavitation is, in fact, creating bubbles I'm not sure how that's a disqualified but obviously you're saying it is not, in fact, an ultrasonic device due to the aluminum foil test. It seems obvious that the cavitation effects produced by a 120kHz machine will be far smaller than those created by yours and most others. If I throw a rock at a glass window with a certain velocity at a glass window, let's say it breaks. However if I throw a pebble at the same window with the same force, it likely wouldn't. Why doesn't that apply here? Thanks

Check out our testing of ultrasonics in our 45 minute session on our RU-vid channel. We used a cavitation meter to measure cavitation in three advertised ultrasonics. This piece of test gear is used by ultrasonic repair technicians to locate both faulty or failed transducers. Not any home made tester. Added you may make for yourself aluminum foil test records using specialized aluminum foil that is mandated by governments to test daily their ultrasonic machines. The foil should see dimpling if in fact if it is using cavitation. I started first with the foil test. Then as Fremer did not trust foil test that I used at NASA in 1978, I then bought 2 testers in September and October 2022 at a total of 38K invested to further provide proof. I am not from this industry, but was surprised the lack of any testing... a shiny coated record means nothing to any reasonable person studying the art. ...also added to my Keyence VHX-7000 2D 3D a $175,000 2D 3D imager. To your point, in China we see many sonic water bubblers used to clean vegetables. They do not use cavitation. Cannot say more. Self explanatory. Buyers need as Michael Fremer said in the Stereophile August 2022 issue SEE this industry sector SET PERHAPS standards as to safety and ingredients of chemical used etc.. In my 45 minute session recorded in Seoul are images of testing two advertised 40 KHz systems as well as a 120 Khz system. ADDING TEST OF ROTISERIE STYLE RECORDS USING BOTH ALUMINUM FOIL RECORDS AND A CAVITATION TESTER. surprise surprise surprise... Also where using a Nakamichi T100, a TC3000 from Ortofon, we do before anf after processing tests on any cleaner. So far we see a decrease in Signal to Noise ratio, and while we at times no longer hear a pop from a particular area on the record, our Keyence VHX 7000 measures also an increase in record height also seeing the contaminant still captured in the pressing oil. After many plays the needle gouges this out. Pop is heard once more. A restored or properly cleaned record based on the table of Tribelectric charges should repell water and not need air or vacuum drying. A much larger issue.

Added to my reply, in the slide presented, ultrasonic cavitation is generated by one or more transducers mounted on a metal surface, not plastic, generating a sound. 25, 35, 40 etc kHz. Bubbles generated due to the definition of cavitation as they rise do implode and generate an industry termed plasma wave. NOT BUBBLES. Chinese manufacturers are selling underwater air agitators that disturb standing water creating bubbles. This is low velocity. Used to clean vegetables. Incorrectly termed as an ultrasonic created bubble. Look at some of these machines. With no record in a true ultrasonic machine use the degas cycle. There are no visible bubbles as cavitation creates a wave. If you now see bubbles and if a soap was added , you will see foam. Equated to the product not being a true ultrasonic using cavitation. . Sonic activity sees rising and moving 'waves" created by implosion. Does not create visible bubbles. Cavitation generates invisible bubbles not seen by the human eye. Check out many web sites. They talk about micron level bubbles that implode, creating a wave and having sub visible bubbles that implode. Everyone also knows that the downfall of an ultrasonic"s efficacy is based on the presence of air. ...That is why we need to use in our case a degas cycle to remove air. So if a sonic shows no dimpling of the foil in the aluminum foil test or you see large air bubbles,, not using ultrasonic cavitation. If a true ultrasonic one should see dimpling of a special aluminum foil used to create a record of sorts. A cavitation meter should measure in CAVINS the pressure generated by a true ultrasonic. It should also be relatively even from edge of the record to the dead wax area only if some resonance has been added as ultrasonics by nature are violent with varying levels of intensity. Check out the slides showing this. Measure of wattage or current draw as most peers represent on a product sales sheet as to ultrasonic pressure means nothing as to cavitation, or ultrasonic cleaning efficacy. If we had a true ultrasonic there is a calculated load charge. Only a certain number of records per liter of water may be processed. ..this especially of concern one would think if we are looking at closely spaced records as seen in DIY rotisserie style record suspension systems in a 6 liter tank ...while an ultrasonic, seen first hand where standing waves if a true ultrasonic due to close proximity of records to each other negates the premise of cavitation... as also seen in my slides using both foil and using a cavitation meter. ASK AN ULTRASONIC MANUFACTURER WHAT IS THE PRESSURE MEASURED FROM THE BOTTON OF THE BASIN ADJACENT TO THE EDGE OF THE RECORD ALL THE WAY UP TO DEAD WAX AREA , THIS IN CAVINS IN THE ULTRASONIC' S BATH. ... OR ITS PRESSURE EQUIVALENT. NEVER WATTS!

I was very skeptical about your record restoration system. It takes trial and error to get the records cleaned, I had alot of questions that Mr Kirmuss always answered not only by email but called me directly to help me with the process. I can assure you that his process works and works amazingly, . The first run of records was Miles Davis Kind Of Blue 45 RPM UHQR. After the following instructions my record was noisy , Mr Kirmuss called me and explained how to clea new records , my records have not sounded this good!!! Believe the man he has science behind his findings.

Your interpretation of what is a bubbler and what is cavitstion is incorrect. Bublers seen sold in China to wash vegetables do not rely on cavitation. Do look at our 45 minute video on our RU-vid channel or the upcoming video shot yesterday at the Florida Audio Shie as to what is cavitation. To appreciate what we bring to the table one needs to first study what is cavitation. Cavitation creates pressure measured in Cavins or watts per square inch. We generate cavitation of 810 Cavins. To solve the dilemma, What is the pressure generated by your systems? I know the answer. Let me know before I continue. If you appreciate the relationship between surface area loading and rules governing this as it relates to an ultrasonic bath, youbwill appreciate I an sure where the level of cavitation intensity first varies as the bubbles rise and implode and a relationship in frequency as well needs to be first selected based on what are we trying to remove, a release agent and contaminants fused into the pressing oil. Added, We add a 70 khz resonance to our 35 khz generated signal to even out the areas that rise. Using cavitation amone one cannot remove the pressing oil or release agent as I call it. Much more complex. The Tribelectric table of charges states where both the record and water with or without soap repell each other. So our IP requires one to ionize the record. Thus applies to all sonics when dealing with records. Do cone back with the homework so I can then summarize the misconceptions presented.

@Jerry Padilla Many thanks! FYI... We restored dozens of records here at the Florids Audio show, many records previously processed prior by a variety of so called cleaning methods that reported to us by the record owners sone using sonics with purported frequencies of 40 and 120 Khz. While these records were shiny before our processing, the audience including notable industry experts such as Michael Fremer witnessed the successful restoration of these previously processed records using our process. Witnessing both the contaminants and films being removed as well as witnessing using our spectrum analyzer, the resulting gain. Obviously the playback and listening saw the imaging tightened and soundstage incressed. Glad you are realizing the same results as our visitors at the show.

Proof is in the pudding: LATEST NEWS on our RU-vid channel: 1. Restoration of a Frank Sinatra Record. Mexico City Nov 2023 KirmussAudio event. Before restoration: Lots of noise. Crackles abound. Sound Muddled. The record was processed before in a 120 KHz ultrasonic. Processed 5 times. Before in a vacuum based cleaning system, so I was told. Video Before Kirmuss Processing: ru-vid.com/show-UCq6s2TT2s7SgZu_7F1D37SQ Video After Kirmuss Restoration: Increase in signal and frequency response, pops gone. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_RZ50MIPtVA.html 2. From our record restoration event in Mexico City in front of Billboard Magazine and with an invitation only meeting of Discos two weeks ago held at the Margules factory, very nice of him, a record that was brought in that was processed prior with a vacuum cleaning system saw these results: Before Kirmuss; ru-vid.com-L2gIqQ3nok After Kirmuss: ru-vid.com_6_fhGWMBjM
