Kirobo, a communication robot that will be sent to the International Space Station in summer 2013 as part of a JAXA proposal is tested in a zero-gravity environment and shown interacting with people in this promotional video.
This bot was made to test and experiment with interactions between artificial intelligence and humans during prolonged isolation, such as missions to go into space. How is that not helpful to research and science in general?
This is a pretty interesting video. May I ask if Kirobo is made by Deagostini? His body design seems similar to Robi's, only with minor shape change on the head and a different color design.
I hope this reply finds you. Both Kirobo (and his twin, Mirata) and Robi were designed by Tomotaka Takahashi. You can tell that they even have similar interchangeable parts. There are others as well eg. Ropid (can run and hop, high speed motors, also shown in this channel) and FT, a female shaped robot. His team's website - Robo Garage is still up with pictures of the entire lineup, but they have since removed the English section.
USA has Darpa Developing killing machines kinda like the Terminators. Japan makes robots that are, Cute, will cook you breakfast, sing a song save lives or help the elderly. Tells you a lot about the difference in culture -.-
Spoken like a person that lives in a bubble without worry of terrorism and tyranny. The fact that Japan is a US ally is the only reason China hasn't put the smack down on them and put these guys to work making shoes. Come down from your happy little rainbow and join us here in reality where we appreciate our freedom and don't question the means by which we keep it.
