Watching this for the 3rd time got me thinking why Kiryu is such a loveable and humanized character, despite all the out of this world things he's been through. I think it all boils down to how he lives his life. He is an absolute monster in a fight. Almost nigh undefeatable in the Yakuza universe. But he never entertains the idea that gives him the right to throw his strength around to force his will on others. Instead he's humble, honest, and most importantly; lives his life to the fullest in a way that helps everyone around him. He sees worth and love in the smallest things, even if he doesn't quite understand another person's passion in life he treats it as worth giving time out of his day to try it or even help them despite if he doesn't fully understand it. And like he said in Yakuza 6. There's nothing in this world he thinks is more valuable than time. And the fact he spends his precious time helping anyone and giving his all into everything he does shows just how big his heart really is for the world and everyone in it.
I will not fall in love with a fictional character. I will not fall in love with a fictional character. I will not fall in love with a fictional character. Ok I love him
>Spends 10 years in prison >Loses his best friend/brother and crush >Loses nearly all of his friends over the next 11 years >Raises a daughter, runs an orphanage, and continues to enjoy life regardless He is him
I come back here everytime after yakuza 8 and it really hurts to the point i actually wanna cry but i guess he had such a awesome journey with us and journeys always have an ending... and soon our journey with him is about to end.
Kiryu is something else of a character for many things In almost every instance of the games without context he's just some random tough guy who would be your regular video game protagonist that doesn't give a shit about anything except money or some type of stereotypical objective. Its until you play the games and see how Kiryu is a man willing to do anything for the ones he cares for and is willing to throw his happiness away just for the kids of morning glory or for his friend's. When I first saw Kiryu in Yakuza 0 I just assumed he was going to be a forgettable character with barely any personality. Jesus christ I was wrong and I'm glad for it.
This is the most precious video I have ever come across. Kiryu really is one of the best characters ever written. Thank you for making this edit. I've probably watched this over 30 times today alone T.T
The thing is thou I didn’t look at kiryu as a lover or archenemy or even being a huge fan for him I see kiryu as a friend that I wish is real which will never happen but I’m glad u posted this video showing how much kiryu went through not everything bad but some good times…so thank u so much it really brightens my day
Awesome! That's why Kiryu is a guy I would definitely fall for. So awkward, sincere and nice. But on the other side you face his integrity, power of principles and iron will. We all love you, Kazuma!
whenever i play substories im always like "how is this the same fucker that can handle tigers and lions and also annihilate hordes of enemies with ease"
I love how there's just a little bit of him going "What am I doing with my life?" Almost as if he perfectly understands how ridiculous his life is Kiryu: "Before I start explaining my life story, I must make one thing clear: *everything I am about to say is 100% fact.* Understood?"
this is so wholesome I want to cry I'm no longer in Yakuza fandom tho I still adore the game series and this edit brings so much good memories back thank you
@@rayshoesmith26 well, I still love and appreciate yakuza and the experience, It’s just that when I find myself a new interesting fandom I completely dedicate myself to it, caring about the previous one less and less
My favorite scene in Yakuza is when kiryu said "You've been Kiryu'ed" and then Nishiki combust into flame. Truly one of the moments in video game history.
We should all strive to be like kiryu no matter what no matter the odds or what happens to always get back up and keep fighting for what you believe in
another great thing i dont see many people mention is that, despite Kiryu being less jacked then even some people hes faced (ryuji etc), what pushes him forward is his sheer skill and determination, it even more so displays the stereotypes part in the beginning, yea you can tell hes strong, hes done some insane things, but his true strength lies in his determination to protect his loved ones and even kamurocho allows him to overcome anything, which is his greatest strength.
kiryu have saddest story he lost his freind lost his lover need to get away from his daughter to keep her safe and mostly importantly *HES A FIFTY YEAR OLD VIRGIN* R.I.P
Oh my goodness gracious, such a pure boy, lots of love, must protect, best boy -someone hurts best boy- *YOU FUCK WITH HIM YOU FUCK WITH THE KAZUMA FAMILY (Yakuza Fanbase)*
Well technically the series is called Like A Dragon because that’s what the original Japanese title translates to, Yakuza is just a localised title (as if the localisers were into literal naming) but I see where you’re coming from
if we stop to think that we basically have lived Kiryu and his friends' almost entire life throughout the Yakuza series, its kinda crazy on how much stuff they all have been through together
