Man, you know, I love combining mecha, that's sort of my thing, and IN THEORY I like Lego's. This series looks like it's a mix of the two and... I just don't dig it?I don't know how to explain it. The ability to swap the different parts is cool and all, but considering how i don't care for it in other series, I don't care for it here either. I DO like that it adds versatility to the combinations, but when it feels like the series STARTS with a cluster of mecha just piling on, it can go south pretty fast. We mostly see the piling on of mecha for the much later series forms, and the fact that it's happening so early is a bit scary. Looks like a fun toy though! It may not be for me, but the quality of plastic seems nice and the combining ports all look like they work well... i just really wish i had any interest in it at all.
That's fair. I think it would be a bit nicer if the leftover parts made a very clear second combination. While the boxes do give you ideas for stuff that isn't in-show, it still doesn't use everything and it isn't as clean as the purposeful combos. This is a good first step towards more versatile mecha and if anything, this is the most fun Red Ranger T-Rex ever by far.
Oh yeah, it looks like it's the best red T-rex so far. I'm not the biggest fan of extra parts that don't go anywhere when it comes to things like transformers, this just sounds like it would be annoying. I'd rather, like you said, them all combining to do SOMETHING other than just be a pile in a zip lock somewhere once the eventual final form comes out.
