Ok, we learned how to do acrylic nails in class (I'm in Cosmetology school) and over half the class could not get the acrylic ball formation down. Thank you for this vid because I feel confident I can do it now based on the way you dipped the brush and pushed down to get the ball. We were told to scoop and it was an utter fail. Thanks again.
Thats crazy. My instructor always told us "dip lightly and hold for a second." I usually count to 2 or 3 and then you get a good sized ball that sticks great. (Dont dip in deep. Just barely enough to get it on the brush)
The kit isn't that bad, but I had a lot of lifting. I ended up taking them off, getting them professionally done, then I just filled it with the kit. It's lasted so far and it's been nearly two weeks! So I guess my point is, it's good if you don't have the time or money to spend going to a salon every 2-4 weeks to get a fill.
Thank you so much for this video! I've seen this kit in the store a few times and I've been wanting to test it out but wasn't sure if it would be what I wanted or expected. Looks decent enough to at least try!
i would add more powder. its supposed to be darker when you apply. but good for at home use. just make sure you use enough so the nail is strong enough
Not being rude. Just at tip, buffing the nail before you apply the acrylic and nail glue. Help create little ridges to help the nail glue and acrylic stick more and helps the nail not lift
The buffing does help the acrylic to adhere. There is only one product on the market that doesn't require any type of buffing. Most professional products require a 240 grit to lightly etch the nail plate without thinning it.
You did this so amazingly! I got this kit because I love having nails but I couldn't do it so instead I just went and got glue on fake nails from the dollar store😋
really enjoyed your video so glad you took time to do it even if I was a expert I could not do it because of some nasty comments but you did so glad just carry on I'm going to give mine a try you have given me the courage to do it thks
this kit is amazing i’m gonna do my nails at home all the time! no more walking out of salons pissed cause the lady didn’t listen to me 🙄😠 ohhh and i could save money?!?! WELL DAMN
do the nails fall off? how long did they last? im very curious because i have been wanting to get these nails but im not too sure. lol i have watched this video about a ga zillion times i love it soo much, everytime i want to watch nail videos i always watch this one because i love it soo much!! ❤️❤️
Be careful with the liquid do it in a well ventilated area of your doing it outside your all good but if your inside have a window open a fan on and all flammable things moved
thank you for this video! this is perfect! you did awesome and made me feel like I can do this too! I have a similar kiss set and I'm getting ready to do my nails right now, so thanks again! 🖒🖒🖒
Stefani Johnson I put them on and I didn't put enough acrylic powder on it and it chipped which chipped my nail in the process of trying to get it off. It hurts alot
I don't get why nail technicians watch DIY nail videos & comment about how horrifying it is to watch someone do DIY nails. Like they have to know going in that it isn't going to be done "correctly".
+Adia Foster yes but when you watch that kind of video and you're going to do the same, following the steps she shows, it's good to know the things she did wrong to not recreat these mistakes.
You're right. I'm a professional hair stylist and when I watch diy hair " tutorials " I just laugh to myself. Then I sit back and wait for people to try it themselves. Then when they screw it up they call and beg me to fix it. When that happens it cost more for me to fix it than it would have cost them to just let me do it right to begin with. : P
+Bunny129 Very informative. I will be going to beauty school soon and was worried about all the diy going on now but that reassured me of the expectations.
+felicia allen I've been a professional stylist for 25 years. Trust me , no matter what new " DIY" thing comes along no one can do their hair better at home than I can do it in the salon. I hope you enjoy cosmetology school, good luck to you!
A lot of people have commented this so here's my response, I had tried to file the nail tip line down to make it blend, but I wasn't very good at it and didn't want to damage my natural nail. I thought it would be best to leave it be. Also, people keep asking about why I didn't use a primer and other items, I was trying to keep it as simple as possible. This kit is meant for the average person to do in their home, by themselves. Meant to be an inexpensive alternative. If you keep adding on to the list of things to use, you may as well pay to have them done:P I'm not a professional, neither is whoever this kit was meant for. This video was intended only to help people out with the kit itself, not how to put on acrylics professionally:D :D :D :D :D
You shouldn't drag the brush in the acrylic powder because when you do that it gives the acrylic bead different drying times instead you should dip it in and hold for about three seconds; that's just a tip 👌🏾😁
People find any reason to be ugly to one another. You did a very good job. your nails look good, especially for you not being a trained professional. Block the bitter.
Just bought my kit today so excited! Lovely video your nails look perfect. And....I feel like 90% of the girls on this comment section are on their period or something 😂
When filing your real fingernails, don't use a sawing motion. Always drag the file across in a single direction. That way, you minimize the chances of splitting or chipping your nails. Also, to help make the end result look more natural, when you dab the powder onto the center of your nail, gently push it upward as close to the cuticle as possible, and then smooth downward back to the center of the nail.
I think the liquid to powder ratio is off, try less liquid, it will make the acrylic more opaque. Sorry no hate, just a tip for your future application
When I tried this for the first time I did a pretty good job I didn't know I could do it that good for being tens years old but it was a few year ago and then I watched this and tried it again and it turned out perfect thankyou for posting this
I give you all so much props! This is WAY too much work for me... nope. I've done so many basic press-on nails and that's all .. otherwise it's dark red / plum polish on my own short nails.
hun your getting your acrylic powder ball much too wet and that's what's making it so much harder for you to manage, get more liquid out of the brush before dipping into powder and it'll help much. and a good piece of advice I once received was no to drag the brush thru the acrylic powder, rather just stick it in n hold it there for a few seconds so all the acrylic curates at the same time.
the reason you file your nail isn't to make it as smooth as possible, its to actually create small divots, or craters in the natural nail so the acrylic has something to adhere to :)
So the reason you have a line from the tip to the nail plate...you have to file that line down but dont file you nail plate. I am in school for becoming a stylist and that is what I have learned.
I have done the acrylic nail thing everyone has their thoughts on if its safe or not safe. The nail glue that comes with the kit didn't work to well for me so I used super glue. It didn't harm my nails and they came off if I pop them off mine lasted up too 2 months if I don't want to pop them off she did good ^_^
the bottle is suppose to be hard. your not suppose to be able to squeeze it. take a toothpick and insert it in the end to make sure it just wasn't clogged
Hi, love the video. I've got some tips for to make it easier in the future. You mentioned that the you'll see the difference between the fake nail tip and your own nail. I use my nail drill which I found on eBay for like $8.00 to drill it a little bit so when I glue it on you can't tell the difference between the two. I think that you'll find this is very helpful. This way if you use clear acrylic no one can tell. When you find yourself using too much glue just tap it onto your paper towel a bit so it can absorb some of it, this will prevent the glue from running out/over. I normally cut the nails prior to gluing them on so they don't get in the way. Such a great video.
The acrylic liquid that comes in these kits smells really bad and isn't good for your health! I recommend using these in a well ventilated area or even out side :)
LOVE IT! You were so clear for a person who was possibly too lazy to read the intructions and jsut wanter to watch you! Thinking i should buy the kit and follow what you do!
For the line caused by the tip there is a product called no lines or you can just put some glue on the line and it helps hide it when the acrylic is on. Also slightly filing just the nail tips edge on the nail when it's on or even before it's on the nail helps. I don't know if anyone has told you since making this video but just thought I would share.
I always went and had my nails done, spending upwards of $100 dollars a month to keep them looking awesome, then a few months ago I was at Walmart in my nail down time a week between nails all natural, when I picked a kits just for fun, i came home hit youtube wide open watch a few video and started doing my own nails, it took me a bit to get it down, but I have come along way, i want to say thank you love the work, and love the nail ideas,
You made this look so easy. I cant count the many times i have tried to do mine almond shape ugh i cant get it right. Love your nails though. Beautiful
yeah cuz that's how people practice first. they put fake nails on monkeys and dogs to see how they would look with that colour. but don't worry they like looking sassy plus they have a date to get to soo...
You did a great job :3 but next time try at the free edge and working your way up and when you get the third ball make it really watery.Im cosmetology student by the way but I love the way you did it
I've actually been looking for some! I also tried this really cool ombre thing too. It covered that line but still kept it looking natural. I'll probably do a video on that later:P
+Sara's Makeup and Nursing Channel if it makes you feel any better, I'm sure the packaging design people are not the same as the people who made the actual product itself
+Selma covic actually you are. what that is is actually referred to clear caping. the acrylic is supposed to go down to the cuticle to seal the nail. even with tinted acrylic, it's taken lightly down to the cuticle to ensure an even surface.
Also when you're at the tip with your bead of acrylic, brush it back towards the cuticle. This will make the stress point stronger, or where the nail meets your nail.
+Jayla Mccullough hopefully you haven't tryed this yet, from my own experience I would not do this. I have gotten acrylics and it is a hassle getting them off and is very painful. It damages your nail bed and my nails are very thin now. If there was that bad of an effect on my nails without directly putting the acrylic powder on them imagine what it would be like if you put it directly on your nails. I hope this helped :))
