Eric Carr was the best KISS drummer, hands down. And a good drummer in his own right. I can take or leave the various lead guitarists; nothing good or bad to say about any of them, just that none really distinguishes themselves.
EPIC. Whoever thought for a moment that the 80s weren't an awesome time for KISS need to watch this. They're all at the top of their game here. Gene's vocals are powerful.
Whoa it’s Adam :) It sounds like some of the high strings are being bent down off the fret board and touch the bottom of the metal part of the fret if that makes sense lol
this version is so tight!! I saw them perform this number on the rock the nation tour- no offense to the current KISS lineup, but this version blows it out of the water
Eric Carr was actually in many bands before joining Kiss. Off the top of my head, a band called Mother Nature/Father Time, the Cellarmen, etc. He didn't just come out of nowhere. And yes, he was a great drummer. I was actually at this Cobo show, btw.
Lucky! I was only born mid 90s and have only recently started listening to KISS. But what I would give to go back in time to the 70s a see them live...
i remember watchin´x first time this home video...in one argentinien underground bar...with my chilhoods friends...1986...Video was out in 1985...buenos aires rock!
I own this concert video. I've watched it until the tape has worn out, but I never fail to be amazed by Carr's drumming. He was simply astounding. No wonder Gene and Paul revered him. As good as he is here, on Fits Like a Glove from this same show, he is maybe the BEST EVER. And Gene's vocals...absolutely perfect. This was a huge MTV concert and big comeback for them.
People dont give Paul enough credit. He was always alive abd energetic when they were alive, and he always moved around the stage and basically was the energy of kiss, along with carr (at this time) also, he was the only one who did anything in the asylum period. He was always alone in the studio thanks to Gene's Hollywood appearances. Tears Are Falling saved KISS. And (in my opinion) Paul's the only one in the band whos creative and isnt in it for fame and money.
Having heard KISS do this on the recent tour, I've been listening to this song a lot lately. I keep coming back to this version because Eric Carr's drums are freakin' incredible. This is no disrespect to Eric Singer, but Carr? Damn.
Tell me that Gene and Kiss don't still rule! They been around since 1973 and alot of bands have come and gone since then! Gene plays a killer bass and I love the axe guitar, awesome. Gene may be cocky and arrogant, but he sure can play and put on a show, breathing fire, spitting blood, flying thru the air, awesome showmanship guys!!
omg one of their best songs and bruce is SICK at the guitar and paul his legs can reach over his head and gene an eric are just fabilous i love them R.i.p eric long live kiss :D
Boy, this was one hell of a line up, solid as fuck. Eric Carr a beast on the drums and Kuhlick rocking the lead guitar. I love Ace, saw him with Kiss and solo but damn Bruce Kuhlick is Kiss's best guitarist of them all. Just saw Kiss with SInger and Thayer and they are solid as fuck too. It seems Kiss just has an amazing knack for showmanship and solid musicians.
Do many of you know that was a wig that Gene was wearing at the time? He had to get his hair cut to do a movie with Tom Seleck called "Runaway" and at the same time Kiss was starting the Animalized Tour.
I like the way Gene acts in this show, especially this song. Arrogant and pompous as he may be at times, he's got the persona of a badass hard rockin' man down to a tee. Just look at his expressions when he's singing the chorus, heck, the entire song. No wonder he got all the girls... :)
i love kiss no matter who's in the band as long as Gene & Paul are there it really doesn't matter to me who takes the other to spots...Farewell is never Farewell when it comes to Kiss :)
the first time i saw kiss was on this tour, and it was fanfuckintastic! kiss were, are and will always be the greatest fuckin rock band in history.its in my blood, tatoo'd on my skin and i'm in it until i die.bring on the monster.
They raised the key a step and picked up the pace for this live performance. A lot more energy and a lighter feel than the more recent performances such as Rock the Nation. Gene was at his very best here of the no-make up phase. Love this version.
Like I said in the previous blogs, thats not Gene's hair cut, its a wig cuz he was doing a movie at the time with Tom Selleck and Kiss went on tour so they gave him a wig until his hair grew long again.
This is my opinion, but I do believe these four guys are the best set that KISS has ever seen. I understand that it isn't all original, but this is the group with the least amount of fighting and quarreling. If only Eric wouldn't have died....
