Ranboo has a lot of fear of Dream, right from the start, and it's highly likely that he loses his memory when he is terrified. So it's likely that he doesn't remember his interactions with Dream because of the fear, and he is surrendering because of the fear that controls him.

I have realized that the jams the dream is controlling ranboo with has a book. It is most likely "do not read" Ranboos memory book and he is reading it. He could maybe be reading it to ranboo to show him he is a monster?

I don’t think the strings on Tubbo and Tommy are around their necks, but I still love the theory. It still has the same concept, being that Tubbo has given up in a way and is just letting himself be hung there, while Tommy is still fighting back and trying to hold himself up. Great theory

He's had so many opportunities to snap but hasn't; his parallels with Wilbur are very interesting and his refusal to give in to the manipulation he has suffered through with Wilbur and Dream intrigue me.

I think Purpled instead chose violence. Also, I don't think he's be a particularly easy or appealing target, having no power over others, no super close involvement with Dream's other targets, not being reliant on others or having attachments (to people or things) that would be easy to exploit... Dream would probably have to work for his control and gain little.

I've been thinking about this as well.....

I don't think "he's a minor" is the only/main reasoning he uses to target people. He doesn't target the people who are slightly older to such an extent as well, it's not like you magically become a super self reliant and emotionally mature person once you turn 18, and he left Purpled mostly alone. One may be able to argue that those in their mid-late 20s and older are likely to have enough experience to inherently be a less appealing target, but that's not something that happens overnight. Then again, there may be something to the idea that Dream targets minors because HE believes that they are inherently far more vulnerable than even slightly older people, which could make a lot of sense with him being 21 himself and thus not having the most mature perspective himself. So who else did he target and who didn't he target? Ranboo's memory makes him an easy victim, not being human may cause discrimination by at least some, Tommy and Tubbo were the ones that started it all and Tubbo has power over a lot of other people. Purpled is not super involved with others, not relying on others for anything, at least decent at PvP and from what little I know doesn't seem like a pushover or someone who'd get attached to things in a way that makes him vulnerable...overall high effort, little reward. He did also target Eret and George to some extent I think, Eret being king (position of power and weakness) and George being clueless as well as having been his friend once...any more? I think in the end it's the typical tried-and-true combination of the involvement in power structures that allow him to manipulate others beyond the direct target, dependency, lack of experience, having things he can use as leverage, lack of support and how much he would gain beyond the power trip. (Note: in real life there is a important difference in vulnerability between someone who's almost 18 and someone who just turned 18, the former is a child under the law and thus not able to make many important decisions that could help him while the latter is faced with a lot of rights and responsibilities they didn't have to worry about before, but what changes is more the legal situation than the actual maturity of a Person.)

@@arymona Nah, nothing against you, I just tend to write a lot and I do somewhat think that people often focus only on them being minors and don't consider other aspects of why they are targeted more.
