You are all welcome to Kisumu, Afrikan Traveller you can take him along and go all the way to Rusinga Island or Takawiri bay if you can make it. It is a hidden gem
My first time in Kisumu was via Kenya Railways. From Yala to Kisumu. Then overnight from Kisumu to Nairobi. I had travelled to Yala by bus at night and wanted to return to Nairobi by a different way. It was a wonderful trip. Haven't been to Kisumu for a few years now. This video has reminded me that I must revisit next time I am there.
The Luos are one of the most urbanized and cosmopolitan tribes,2007 political clashes, was a watershed, all Luos in major towns and abroad decided to invest home in nyanza, this has led to a major construction and economic boom in western kenya. This has attracted major investments and migrant communities from East Africa up to congo, which incidentally have always had luo tribes among them and are comfortable coming to settle in nyanza!.
Unfortunately, the train service from Nairobi to Kisumu and then to Butere via Yala is no longer in service. The government has recently announced plans to rehabilitate that line with hopes of completion being accomplished by end of next year.
@@Darubini2 that will spur growth to even pay back Chinese debt, nyanza, western,Riftvalley is the most populous region, passenger rail transport was very profitable in these route, and small scale mama Mboga business, coast was profitable for cargo, you have a railway and functioning port is a game changer!
Man you are creating Kenyan encyclopedia from every corner. This channel should be added to school curriculum. Cheers bro... though fish is expensive in Kisumu coz most of it is shipped to Nairobi.
@nilotic tradition we're talking about kenya 🇰🇪 please, dissappear with your mwanza, can't compare mwanza with NAKURU at all, NAKURU is far much better than mwanza in everything
I have never been to Kisumu but I have been impressed with what I have seen...yani hata sijaona karatasi chini Kwa hizo streets Very clean, congrats Kisumu people
Never been to Kisumu but it’s evident the local government really delivers service. In my opinion this is the cleanest city in our country at the moment. Great job Afrikan traveler.
The county government has only been sweeping the streets within the CBD since the inception of county gvt,the improvement of these roads/streets are credited for agence francais de co-operation,this is a bilateral agreement btwn french and kenyan gvt on cities/towns improvement, the super highways are loans from ADB and WB thruough GOK, for county government to put a culvert,it will need them 30 meetings sitting allowances to endorse a budget for that.
@@stephenokech8516 if they can keep that city clean like that by sitting down for 30 meetings, l recommend more of those meetings in future for all the counties. Those meetings are doing a fantastic job.
This is by far the best video coverage of Kisumu city. African Traveller's excellent professional work can only be put in the same rank as that of Alex Chamwada report. Keep it up our Kenyan brothers & sisters.
Different places have different vibrations that resonate with a person's life frequency. I have found some places that are in perfect harmony with my spirit while others are so disruptive to my frequency that I can't do anything normally and nothing I do seems to work. Kisumu is not only home for me but this city vibrates in perfect harmony with my life's frequency. I glow different when I'm in Kisumu. Thank you for showcasing the beauty and zen that is my home, and I hope that when you left your cup was overflowing.
This video is a piece of art 100%...combined with the good architectual taste of luos in the city...The lake (fresh water)makes it sustainable as a city to invest in now and in future!! Water, rail & air all ticked!
they are, you can compare this city to tamale in terms of urban planning and infrastructure they beat Ghanaian cities but culturally Ghana is ahead kenya and East Africa to some extent is a bit westernized even the food.
@@9yearsagokk Excuse my language, but it seems you are comparing Apples to Oranges here. Well, I am referring to how organised the cities, towns and villages are in Kenya as to that of Ghana and you are all over talking about the culture and the likes which has no bering or in contention whatsoever to the subject at play right now.
@@9yearsagokk Okay then, most appreciated. Ghana on the other hand has to learn a bit or two from the urban organisation of Kenya and a few others on the continent to bring our urban planning to the satisfactory norm.
Nice showing this city I schooled there at Maseno school all the way from Ukambani. I was 13-17 yrs i always found the people friendly and welcoming.it is then when i tasted fish for the 1st time ikakua my favourite meal to date .Long live kisumo..
It looks really nice and clean. I last passed through in 2018 and I was pleasantly surprised. I remember as a kid, I hated visiting Kisumu because back then it was really filthy
@@afro-centric2653 Leaning from mistakes is the way forward, European cities were at one time more polluted than ours and they turned it around to what it is today. Kisumu is following suit unlike Nairobi which has gone to the dogs
I have a lot of memory Kisumu the last Time i was there was in 2013 as a student in Kenya we went to nakumat mega and played with bumping cars and i liked the place because they played alot of congolese music everywhere i felt like Home... And we ate fish by the lake!
People always get suprised how kisumu is so clean, beautiful and organized. The media and the region been in opposition has made it to be underrated in my opinion,Kenya government also with limited help towards its growth it still maintains to grow.
People from other regions have this perception that Kisumu is a small village. They get so shocked that there is an airport, top class hotels and lovely homes 🤷🏿♀️
One thing i could tell you African Traveller is that, no matter what problem we have as African community but we have something to smile of, Kisumu is really nice my dad used to tell me the stories about the city the long way back because he has been there, as a Tanzanian with a Kenyan mentor who is native from that town, i enjoyed the video and it was like am dreaming, one day for sure i'll be there, much love and respect to you northen neighbors
Thank you, we complaint a lot and forget to celebrate the achievements we have earned. Hope you will manage to visit the beautiful City some day. Keep the positivity.
@@AfrikanTraveller we human we like to complain than making better what we see that is wrong. We should work to make oue Ksm beutiful city than praising others, thanks for your jobb you make me think otherwise of things.
The Cleanest city in Kenya, organized city, beautiful people, the warm welcome by the people in kisumu city always amazes me, people are humble and help each other, i left my ID one time at a mat and a generous conductor followed me for like 50 meters just to give me my ID back leaving the passenger waiting, same happened to a lady who forgot her handbag at a tuktuk, she came back the next day to find it kept for her with all the money inside.
Kisumu is my home 🏡 city 🌃 and growing up it was neat and clean . It fell through the cracks and I must say, though I no longer there my mum tells me after Professor Anyang NYONGO took over , he has restructured the place totally . He gets and got a lot of resistance from people who for 2 decades were used to doing stuff anyhow . The CBD 🏡 estate roads and streets lights are now working . I mean the pavements ! My mom was like you could never wear a decent pair of shoes without a visit to the cobbler ! I cannot wait to be back and structure and leadership was lacking . I’m glad 😃 we are now back in business. Thank you for highlighting my home 🏡 town a wooooop ! 🙌🏾! Greetings 🇺🇸
And this would be the best captured and detailed video of an African city. Kisumu is quite clean with good road network. The climate as seen from the video seems mild. I wish I could visit someday.
I live here. Really is a nice city. People are friendly. Streets are clean. Lake is beautiful especially at sunset. Crime is low. Police don’t harass like they do in Nairobi. Weather is always warm and never need a jacket.
The amount of praises on the comment section is far reaching. But today I found my self enjoying the back ground music. There is something to the music that kinda resonates with the picturesque views in the video..Keep on with the good work African traveller.
Afrikan traveler you are doing an amazing job showcasing Kenya and showing it to the world. You are much more influential than the whole counties governments. Big up!
Kisumu is definitely on my list now. So beautiful!!! Plus the background music was excellent, made me sad the video ended. Awesome work African Traveller!
Wow,just wow🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆kisumu is dope🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆thank you for taking me to kisumu at the comfort of my couch😁😁if I ever start vloging the streets of Mombasa just know that you are the force behind it,inspired😊

Last time.... I visited Kisumu was after high school in in 1992. I am planning to return.... Kenyans let's build our internal tourism to spar development.
I went to kisumu in 2018,it was so peaceful, clean and I enjoyed watching the sunset and the sunrise from the edges of the lake the horizon was amazing have never been so relaxed, one day I will move to kisumu In Sha Allah.
Nice job and Kisumu is 🔥🔥🔥. I remember how the media would always portray Kisumu as a place of riots and incessant Political upheavals. I swear the day Kenya gets rid of its toxic politics, we will be untouchable.
Good morning kenya 🇰🇪,lake people many congratulations 🥳👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 for keeping your 🌃 CITY spotless 🎉🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳😘,beautiful and very organised,I have put on my bucket list of places to visit inshalla 🙏. Thankyou African Travels for you good work you doing 🙏😘,showing us what our Jamuhuri can offer,I myself i do appreciate thanks.stay safe dear ,looking forward to seeing more and more 🙏🇬🇧😘
The ride through my city was fantastic, breathtaking scenic views and sparkling clean streets is an icing on the cake. Although some other beautiful scenes left out I just think this is amazing. I love my home town ❤️❤️. @african_traveller I can't thank you enough. Good job!!!
Thanks for showcasing my original Dala I am really impressed most bloggers / vloggers Only show us the coast , Nakuru and Nyanyuki Lovely to see western Kenya on your channel Next time visit Ciala Resort Kenyan owned Beautiful family resort
Still growing after being neglected by the government for 50+ years because of tribal politics. Thanks to devolution. The govt has only been funding multimillion projects in nairobi.
I have been blessed to travel almost all over Kenya due to my work, Kisumu to me tops all. Kisumu is not just the city please show them also Nyalenda and Ahero. Kisumu i dey hail you. As you are in Nyanza, please do Homabay, its amazing amazing, especially the scenery. The drive from Kisumu to HOmabay is something else plus the air is so crispy u feel like biting it. Don't forget Migori. Kenya for Kenyans, hope this destroys the stereotypes we have around each other. The people are super super super friendly. Those who love land here you will weep, they have amazing land.
I've stayed in Ksm for five memorable years. Best town in Kenya by a country mile. However, after leaving the place I was surprised at the negative stereotype ksm has especially from Mt. Kenya peoples
@@greatstoic2297 yes stereotype all over, let's travel around Kenya you will be amazed. I thank The Most High God for the chance to visit due to work. Instead of using a cab i used a tuktuk from Kisumu city near the airport to Nyalenda and another time to Muhoroni just to taste the air. Crispy, beautiful and the landscape wacha tuu. The tuk tuk guy became my friend and on a Sunday he came to collect me from the hotel together with his whole family to go and attend the church. All of us in his tuktuk squeezing and when the housekeeper saw this she joined us. It was sardin style squeezing then he took us for lunch on his dime. Reason I was heavily pregnant and they were taking care of me. Imagine!! The chef threw down the food to make sure my cravings were covered. I was treated as a queen. Four yrs later we still talk I even get fish sent to me by the tuk tuk driver. The funny thing when I left they gave me so much to go BK with, mind u I was a stranger. Luo's love God they are God fearing and so loving. Hugs hugs Kisumu. If I was single?Jijazie. I believe Nairobi changes people mindset to one of survival mode which creates or elevates our animalistic instincts. You eat or get eaten. Each and every County u visit, pray v an open mind and you will be wowed. Wakenya roho smart. The day you travel out of Kenya ndio utaelewa uzuri wa wakenya. Don't deny yourself the opportunity to learn the country and it's people. Only place i never visited n.eastern, kitui, tana river, lamu w.pokot and muranga. I v traveled b4 baby, when carrying baby and with my baby who just turned 4 alone, just the two of us. Everywhere people assisted me raise him. Wakenya unite love each other nothing as beautiful as that. Tip when u remove positive energy u will attract positive energy. Be pure at heart be ready to learn be willing to explore ask questions and before long u will enrich yourselves with new friends. The African Traveller due to this exposure he will never see life the same again. Be blessed
Never again am I believing what the news show us... Kisumu is actually really nice, these newsrooms never show us these side of the towns, just for the chaos... Now its on my bucket list.
Telling positive African stories by unbiased Africans living in Africa like you do in your channel is a breath of fresh air, away from all the negative stereotyping mainstream media has been feeding the masses for a long time. Thank you African Traveller. I hope the next time you visit, the proposed Urban Development Plan will be in it's implementation stage. The lake front will be totally changed with a very beautifully designed public park like the Mama Ngina Dr in Mombasa.
So yesterday I was talking to my half German cousin who hasn’t been to Kenya for nearly 20 years now (I myself haven’t been to Kenya for 7 years). What’s funny is that you popped up in the conversation. I was utterly astounded, I didn’t even fathom that he would know you, let a lone binge on your videos (he literally binges on your videos). Keep up the good work mate.
Those on ministry of tourism you need to hire this guy to do showcase Kenya on your behalf this is on patriotic guy who anajitolea his expenses to show Kenyans that u can have fun in Kenya like the adventure ones you did back then ,,to longonot and the tour company ....
Very beautiful place. You are really giving us road travel. Kenya has everything. You have taken us to a whole other level of experiencing your beautiful country. Kenyans are Blessed.
Thank you.....i live in mtwapa....never went to kisumu....i will fly back to my country in september....if i come back.....would like a lot to visit kenya properly..... Bless day👍👍
Africans travelers always on perfect course,we feel the journey and tremendous streets of Kisumu.Very good emerging African City. From near by of kakamega, appreciation to your channel and all funs.
Kisumu is my favourite Kenyan City. When you land at Kisumu International Airport, you feel like you are in some paradise. The food, the women, the weather. Shocking that most Kenyans do not know how special Kisumu is. My dream is to have a home in Kisumu. Kisumu is home to the sweetest bread in the world made by United Millers.
My 1st visit to kisumu late last was so mesmerizing and magical... The beauty and cleanliness of this city is on another level compared to Nairobi ... Amazing place!!!
After watching this i travelled there last week ...i tell you the memories still fresh it's beautiful as it looks thanks for the scenery ...use my sounds on your next video @melodymikeAmetenda
Honestly there something about me getting stingy when I come home and hardly treat myself. Next time I am there I am going everywhere. Lazima I go to all those places you have showed. By the way when are you next going live? We need to Superchat you so you can continue to show us all this wonderful places.
AT, thanks so so much for showing us your beautiful country . For sure, next summer, I'll be visiting Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa, the Rift and of course Kisumu)!! Are there other nice cities to visit?
Well done Afrikan msafiri, I have never traveled to kisumu but you’ve made it happen. After watching your video of kisumu my observation was with good governance/less politics Kenya can be an epitome of success. Kisumu is very organized I have noted that no Matatus interfered with traffic flow like in Nairobi. Constitution should be amended for any person vying for president to have been a Governor?
It's because there is a Massive population of intellectuals in the City. They bench mark abroad & Use their highly educated population to implement development projects in the City. The Locals also invest big in Kisumu despite the heavy Media propaganda facing the City.
WARUAKI DALA😌⛵ Among CBDs of top cities/towns in Kenya Kisumu got the cleanest. It's very sad that it has been ignored and all attention given to Nrb, but I'm glad it's always on the move. Thank you bro for this video, pure greatness...I wish though that you could have added entry into Ksm from Busia Road, it has very scenic views, the airport, road infrastructure, golf course by the lake and the lake by the horizon. Big up king!
