Great story with many great actors including Jon Hall, Ward Bond, Dana Andrews, Ray Hatton, Clayton Moore, Renie Riano and Harold Huber. My personal favorite Lynn Bari, "The Woo Woo Girl" gave a career performance.
Two circles, one goes clockwise, the other goes counter clockwise. Works pretty well actually. Especially if the people shooting at you are lucky to get off four shots a minute
A lot of this movie has been lifted from another. The indian attack on the wagon train and blowing up the canyon was word for word same as the other movie. I cannot remember the name of the other movie. DOH!!
The American flag has changed a lot over the last 230+ years, with the last change being when Alaska and Hawaii were made states. Each star of course represents a state of the Union, It didn't change during the Civil War when the Confederacy tried to secede, so yeah there would have been probably 28 states in 1840, the time that this movie is set, that period from the end of the War for Independence to the Civil War was a time of great expansion in the United States with quite a lot of the new Western States joining the Union. I'm sorry but I don't know exactly the years of incorporation of each state.
Buffalo gals won't ye come out tonight, come out tonight, come out tonight, Buffalo gals won't ye come out tonight and dance to the light of the moon. You're welcome, sir.
I always wonder why, in any film with firearms scenes, why one side can’t hit a cows arse with a banjo and the other side can close their eyes point the gun in any direction and still hit the enemy, amazing, just as in the opening gunfight in this film. Does anybody in the film world of yesteryear military not salute officers, I really enjoy good and not so good “silver screen” films, but just recently I have noticed that there was a big void in military etiquette and standards, but I suppose back then it wasn’t as noteworthy to not be as accurate as now, with most modern viewers knowing more about procedures and etiquette due to the tv and internet availability, still it only a film. I can’t help but wonder why the storyline has the “general” obeying his orders to the letter, as many leaders would tell you that orders are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men, he should be flexible and use common sense, especially as Kit Carson told him the canyon was one way in same way out, so it was a dead end, he should have headed the warning, the storyline could have had them altogether and having the archetypal “for the wagons into a circle” battle, I think it would have made just as good a storyline, or maybe this version is the real events, I believe Kit Carson was a real person, please correct me if I am wrong. Really entertaining film thanks for sharing 😀👍🇬🇧🏴
It’s just a movie. Carson and Fremont were real. And they did make the first trail to California. But that’s about all that was historically accurate in this film.
@@arctodussimus6198 Thanks for the reply, I honestly didn’t know they were historical figures, but as you said that was about the only factual content it’s just as well people like myself didn’t know that, or the real history, or the comments section would overload. Thanks again. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴
Dj Phantom I’ve been studying the American Fur Era (1825-1845) and the history of the Western Frontier for over 20 years. It’s a fascinating time in history.
Those guns had just been given to the indians. Guns are loud they kick hard and take a lot of practice to become a crack shot. Kit was a trapper, mountain man and scout. He and most of the white men had been shooting since childhood.
I had a blessed life. My grandfather was born in the 1800s and fought in wwi . He seen things we can only dream of. Too bad it looks like we lost our great nation to left wing fools! Yes I'm a 5th generation veteran Desert Storm! My great-grandfather fought for Michigan. I was adopted by my uncle. I was truly so blessed.
HEY BROTHER PATRIOT...MY HEART SINGS BECAUSE IF YOUR GIFTS TO KEEP OUR NATION STRONG...!!! (Psssst...IT ISNT OVER YET BROTHER...Voting machines have been found...PROOF of lies and voter FRAUD...Watch some heart warming videos called FRONT PAGE...THESE ARE TRUTH AND IN ACTION RIGHT NOW!!!(11/21/20)
Left wing fool?... And what do you call a republican party that doesn't have the honesty, integrity, common decency or balls to tell a corrupt, lying, cowardly pussy that he lost the election and it's time to get the hell out of the people's house.
Thank you for your service hero. It ain't over by a long shot. I'm going with a bus load of patriots to DC Jan 6th to support President Trump and 7 battleground states whose election was stolen. There are 1000's of buses and millions and millions of patriots like we've never seen in history.
@@jazzfusionary You people are so stupid. Trump lost the election. And now he's the one trying to steal the electoral college votes. And you morons are to stupid to see that. Your guy lost.
Not historically accurate. BUT it’s close enough for Hollywood. I believe the real battle took place near San Diego at San Pasquale. Carson was a real hero of Western Expansion.
c'est facile de mettre + de 600 films, en répétant 10 fois les mêmes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just out of curiosity, Indians really were not that stupid to circle around a wagon train so that the settlers could have target practice were they curious minds want to know
