Bas 040 sure you can, but it’s not the same core. This one uses an AS3340 which is a clone of the classic Curtis chip of the same number. And of course the Bassline has a lot more than just the VCO.

Synth Diy Guy got my VCO’s mixed up. For some reason I thought the Polivoks VCO had a AS3340 core as well.

No, as far as I know the only Techno System module adapted to DIY is this one.

they didn't, this is a different module. The one with Detune is factory and has much more complicated circuitry. This is the DIY version. The drive sounds really good though!

nope. not needed for through hole construction, there's plenty in the solder itself!

@@QuincasMoreira thanks! i'm new to this and have been putting flux on everything, is there any harm in fluxing anyway? other than cleanup? i use small 0.56mm multicore solder

@@DrGeta666 no harm except for a waste of flux, cleaner and time! Just don't . :)

Also, 1mm 60/40 solder works better for through hole IMO. Save that .56 and flux for when you do SMD ;)

Its not so hard if you have some experience, just take your time and follow the instructions on the build guide meticulously. If it doesn't work you have to troubleshoot and that will totally depend on what is it that doesn't work. For example, if a pot doesn't work you can start by checking if all 3 terminals are in fact connected to their pads.

Dear Synth Diy Guy , thank you for you kind encouragement. I am a doctor and so I diagnose from a data base of pathology , I have a good idea if you come to me with say a metallic taste in your mouth , or if you bump into things on your left side or damage you car on the left side repeatedly of where to look for a cause. I do not have a data base in my head about what to do if say the resonance is too saturating or the filter sounds too dull . I bout electronics for dummies 8 books in one but it seems too general. I guess I need a course and to build some simple stuff. I built a bi stable flip flop as a kid, the red led cost 14 dollars!

yes, the issues you mention are not likely to occur in this context. Mostly problems are that one function or another simply doesn't work. Knowing the diagnosis, similarly to medicine ( my wife is also a doctor) you can get closer to the remedy. But yes definitely start with simpler kits like Mikrophonie or Radio Music before embarking on a big one like this!

No CV of EG decay, no PWM, no Sync... beware of feature creep ;) This is a minimalistic module with a lot of functions already packed in, at some point one must draw the line!

Good as a synth voice but for bass sounds I feel like the distortion in the VCF stage with just 50% resonance is a bad idea and hints at poor gain structure. imo adding distortion to bass sounds should always be done in parallel.. but hey there are no rules in sound design eh ;)

Personally I dig it! Erica Synths are the kings of Polivoks stuff, so I just figured it was a bit of a nod to that. Sounded like a Roland SVF mixed with a bit of Polivoks grit.

Personally I dislike designs that use building blocks just because they work and not because they sound good together. From the presence of the metal can programmable op amp ICs It seems like they are using their Polivoks based VCF.

Its because he changes perspectives whenever he cuts. He should shoot from the same side, and not zoom ans switch sides simultaneously.
