Excellent review, as a long time Dragon and Tamiya fanboy I can't help but notice the improvements that ICM and Miniart have made in the last few years, especially since they tend to be brave and produce less popular vehicles. Hell even Zvezda has stepped their game up. Based on your review of the Krupp radio truck I purchased it and loved it, so this is next on my wishlist. Thanks for spreading the knowledge and sharing your opinions.
I have had some success putting vinyl tyres in the freezer overnight before sanding the seam. I have the original release of this kit without the hood and it is a lovely model. ICM have re-released it with some figures included. Thanks for the super video.
thanks for review nice too see other model kit makers.have not done any kits from icm but the reviews ive seen you do on icm kits, makes me think i mite check some out.your reviews takes the gruss work out. keep up your good work.will nz
thank you very much! i also built quite a few of their recent kits and found my assumptions of the kit reviews confirmed. some of their older kits are a bit wonky though, like the panther tank for example.
really enjoy your reviews Michael. I have the Tamiya kit, I'm going to copy Sheperd Paine's build in his book modeling tanks in military vehicles. again cool review.
this looks a really good kit . good instructions, well made and good detail. another wheeled workhouse of the German army for your collection Michael 👍
This is a question that is a little off topic, but as an American soldier, we were never allowed to use the soft tops of vehicles (in combat or in training) because it was thought to reduce combat awareness and in cold weather a guy sitting in a moving jeep or truck that has a roof would find a way to fall asleep. Granted this may have been a divisional directive, I was wondering if the German Army had the same directive.
In my days with the Bundeswehr we had the "new" Kübelwagen and the VW Iltis, both had soft tops. They were only down in summer. And actually the experience you made wouldn't allow the use of vehicles with hard tops at all. So, I guess that was rather a divisional directive.
Thanks Jen, I'm trying to figure out as a company commander or a squad leader would I allow a guy to "raise the roof" on a vehicle. Granted we had ways to circumvent the rules, a poncho spread across the the windshield and covering legs would provide heat, but I 'm thinking raised soft tops were a rear echelon thing.
That may be true, but if you watch reports from Afghanistan you can see that most German vehicles have the soft tops closed. I don't know what to think of it. Soft tops don't offer any other protection than that against rain and wind, so you could leave them down anyway.
"filigree" I have a book that shows over one million synonyms. if an adjective we also use: delicate, fine, finely-wrought, fragile, dainty...I believe "fragile" works better here. No nouns seem used here. Notice that I am usually hung up on "filigree" ? Of course I understand what you mean :) My book is about 2 inches thick (.10 meters I believe). danke :)
it is indeed a rather unspecific word or meaning, but i mean something really specific here: thin, high quality part that allows maximal detail. it is meant 100% positive, so fraglile is not really meant. the other synonyms fit well though :)
Great video, I have a request of doing a video tutorial about scratchbuilding there is almost no information about it but is a important step in modelbuilding.
I guess will be easier for everybody to conduct your channel in English. More people speak English than German. Subtitles on YT are shit, white letters on white background.
HB is not keen on speaking English on his videos and it has never been a problem for 99% of people. Better to put up with some slightly annoying subtitles than miss his excellent content. I am English BTW :)
you can adjust the subtitles in an option bar right next to the subtitle button. you can change the size and color freely. really handy. besides that, more than a quarter of my viewers are german speakers, and having a german model building channel on YT is a rare thing in its own, so they appreciate it (it is basically my selling point). anyway, i go through the tedious process of writing and adding the subtitles in english to make my content available for everyone out of simple generosity. i think everyone can be bothered to read a text from time to time :)
I enjoy attempting to use my kindergarten level of German to understand the videos, I have to have the subtitles on but catching every fourth of fifth word is a joy.
