“I know a thing or two about tool clamps” surely the understatement of the century 😮, what a stash btw, oh and excellent review, sure got yourself a bargain there…
What can I say? I'm tool clamp guy. The stash hasn't grown much since like 2016, but it is still pretty big. And as far as the deal? Yeah they sold out pretty quick at Nats.
Welcome back. I was wondering about their Tigers. I'm very impressed with their Zim. I'm happy about the tracks. Except for the horns, why can't the just add them is odd. It's funny that when I started in the late 60s and early 70s, we had a toy Tiger in a play set. Tamiya gave it's Tiger 60s or 70s. Nachimo late Tiger . That was it in 1/35 you had to scratch anything you wanted. Now you get everything on kits. Man, I'd have loved to have had this kit when I was younger. Awesome review, my friend. Kids are the same dad builds. I want him to build me something. My kids weren't any different. God bless little advice. I'm 65, and I have so much that I'm trying to sell it off, so it won't be a dumpster problem for my kids. 😂
I hear that about the stash. And I'm happy to build stuff for Arthur, just wish he was a little more patient. And I'll likely give all my stash to Panzermeister36 if my kids don't want it.
@@AdamMann3DI think you’ll like the Trumpeter Tiger’s especially how they do the zimmerit. It looks scary but is actually very easy to do and also battle damage the hell out of it plus you get a fare bit left over for another build so it’s very good and cheaper than most other Tiger kits on the market today.
Good to see your review Adam. Hope the health problems are behind you and that you had a good time catching up with Evan and Michael. I wonder if you would consider a video comparing current Panzer III offerings with the 2005-ish Dragon offerings? I always learn something from your videos.
@@AdamMann3D Dragon then vs Academy, RFM, Takom now. It seems like the Dragon now kits, in general, have just been rehashes where instead of them molding new parts, they seem to just have you hack pieces off old parts. Appreciate your reply Adam.
It's a lot making videos, even as basic as mine. I can't fault people for getting burnt out. But you make a good point, the modeling scene truly changed over the last 5 years, in ways that were surprising to me. As for me, my kids take up most of my time. But I'm trying to still be here. I don't think I'll ever stop.
Hi Adam. I have just finished building this kit. it's a very good kit but there are a few issues if you fit the fuel tanks there will be a fitting issue when you go to put the top of the hull on as the fuel tanks push it and it will not fit flush. The turret capola has a pin which needs to be cut off because it puts the vision ports in the wrong place. The track guide horns are a pain very fiddly. When you use the track jig do not use too much glue as the tracks stick to the jig and are a pain to remove. I hope this helps.😊
I’m so glad you are going to do reviews all these new Tigers 😁😁😁 I’m not so sure about the link and length tracks though as I can never seem to get them to look very good at the join with the long straight bits of track 🥴 just me though so… I do love all the extras though but only because I build dioramas and vignettes for my kits. The zimmerit does look fantastic but if you make a few of them for a convoy diorama or fighting scene they’ll look the same unless your good with a dremel or other power tool to work some battle damage magic onto them. But another interesting review Adam and thank you so very much for taking the time to do it for us 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Adam, great review. I've just ordered the big box with the 3 tigers after watching your review as the zimmerit looks really nice. I'll be watching out for your build of this tiger. cheers, Gary uk 🇬🇧
Glad to see you back and posting a new video. I have been contemplating this kit. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot. Also, I really miss chatting with you and a few of the other guys in the community after getting a permanent ban on fb.
I bought this Big Box from Andy's. The kit he's reviewing is an awesome build except for the application of the guide horns which in my opinion is a freaking nightmare, and since I'm tired of metal and resin tracks and went with the Mid/Late rubber band tracks by AFV Club. I also added my own impact craters and damaged spare road wheels without the rubber. Still a great build.
@@daveychainz interesting. You went with rubber band tracks because you're tired of metal and resin tracks? That doesn't really make sense to me but ok.are you tired of buying them or assembling them? Either way, is love to see your build if it's online anywhere.
@@AdamMann3D Well I am a Tiger fan. To show, I have 2 of the big box plus most of the Dragon kits you did reviews on. Do have a question, are you familiar with ammo paint? Reason want to paint a Tiger with red primer, then German gray before applying the DAK Color. When got the ammo kit for the Red primer, it had three base primers, dark, light, and gray, and the red main main color. Guess my question would be which base would be more accurate before applying the main final color(RAL 8000 Gemlbbraun). Any ideas or thoughts on this would be appreciated. Again thanks David
@@dirk6001 I see that. I haven't decided to get the second one yet. There is already a late in this box, and the second one doesn't have a proper early, just a Fehrmann. So we shall see. If that had put out a big box with an early, mod and late it would sell like crazy.
I've just been watching a detective programme, so maybe I'm in the zone for solving mysteries - so here's my take on your Dragon front plate. Firstly - you did nothing wrong except, like all those Tiger crews - you just followed orders. Well, instructions. Here's what I've learned from watching your reviews of Dragon kits in the past. Dragon are sloppy with their instructions - like sometimes they forget to tell you to do something important. Also, some Dragon kits have you cut away parts to add new parts instead of doing a proper re-tooling. So what's happened here is that Dragon wanted you to cut away the bow plate from the hull, and replace it with the new zimmerit covered bow plate. But - having just looked on the instructions on Scalemates...they didn't tell you that, and just motioned towards sticking the new plate over the old one. I mean - that's major surgery they forgot to tell you about. A doctor would be struck off immediately for being so remiss.
@@AdamMann3D well, going on the Sherlock Holmes mantra of eliminating all the impossibilities and ending up with the only answer, however improbable, I think I've solved the issue. My only hesitation comes from the question of why hasn't anyone else pointed it out - surely loads of people must have bought and built the kit...maybe they're just not as observant as you were, and didn't see the anomaly. good luck.
Give me a mid without zimmerit - that stuff that turns armour into fuzz. The mid cleans up the back by removing feifels (now you can see the back corners), it avoids late style wheels , has the best mantlet (the "wink" variant) , retains the big muzzle brake, and has that much better cupola. I could do without track links on the turret but ....
Very good rewiev👍 And oh, i totaly understand why you allways menthion Dragon - i get it (thou it take some time to me to understand😂😂😂) Anyway - Cheers👍🤘😊
Slowly building this one right now-- having been on a Tiger craze I bought this along with Dragon 6800 and two Rye Field Initials and a Late. Having only really cut my teeth on Tamiya (with an abandoned Academy Sherman and Tiger somewhere in my room), I really appreciate the detail but I'm not the biggest fan of drilling holes and tiny tiny parts (especially the brackets for the C Hooks and the whole jack subassembly, not to mention the three part latches(?) on the engine cover. I bought RFM tracks to replace the kit tracks, but they're so fiddly I'm wondering if I should've purchased AFV tracks or metal ones instead. The lower price point is much more attractive than Dragon though-- I'd love to see Takom's Early and Initials.
@@miken8875 I'd tell you to buy my tracks from tankraft, but they're out of production. And Trex is too expensive. I like AFV Club workable a lot, but they're fragile and don't really stand up to anything.
@AdamMann3D That's a shame to hear. From the pictures of the AFV Club ones I liked that the guide horns were integrated into the piece rather than a separate, fiddly piece.
I’d talk to your buddies over at T-Rex and use their resin tracks instead. No way I’m ever wasting my time on these kind of tedious tracks again when there are far better options out there! Nice review and hope your doing alright!
@@AdamMann3D thanks for the answer, Just waiting for Takom to make an early none Zimmerit version, meantime the Border kit #BT010 early tiger is probably gonna land on my bench. Along with a set of Friulmodel tracks.
@@AdamMann3D Now I know what you mean. That's true, of course. It's the same mantlet as the tiger in the Kubinka Museum. This one also has the (P) variant.

@@kennethcampbell1962 thank you so much. It's good to be back doing what I'm known for. I agree on the Zim. The more distinct and awesome it looks, the more samey it will look if you do more than one. Like is this Zim the same on the late? We shall see. Cause Dragon at least has different Zim on mids and lates.
