Totally agree with you Tomtin2001. I have had my Kitchenaid KRMF706ESS for 3 year and it has been giving me problem's every single year. I have had to change the Control panels twice. The compressor and the electronic board. The Ice machine stopped working, fixed twice. Top lights stop working. As I write this post my husband and son are using My Blow Dryer to manually defrost the ice built up inside my food drawers and fridge. Even with all that ice built up in my refrigerator. My refrigerator is not cooling. However Freezer is doing good. It is a beautiful refrigerator and I love the spacious compartments but so far its a "pretty to look at and hard to have." Type of deal! It is to a verry expensive refrigerator for all the issues it has given me and my family. Not to mention the amount of money loss on spoiled food we have had due to my Kitchenaid KRMF706ESS refrigerator. Don't recommend.
It's in constant need of repair! I bought it because it looked fancy and now I want my old ugly refrigerator back that worked for years without breaking down once!
The coldness setting on the drinks drawer broke within 3 years. The light indicator just went out. Now it's stuck at a warmer setting and I can't adjust it. Otherwise, I am really pleased with my purchase. The freezer space is deceptively large, and we always manage to cram more in there somehow.
@@justicegusting2476 All ice makers in the refrigerator door are problematic, no matter the brand. The only brand that is "reliable" is Whirlpool, but it takes up way too much space in the fridge and the compressor is extremely loud.
Hello can you please let me know something, does the freezer drawer open enough to get stuff in and out comfortably? I am asking because I have seen a few different Kitchen Aid models that don't and I have not found this model on display anywhere. Thank you
Mine died after 4 years. Wouldn't cool the refrigerator below 40 degrees and the freezer below 20 degrees. KitchenAid sent a rep out and reported back that they wouldn't cover the repair. A $4k refrigerator should last longer than 4 years. I also purchased a KitchenAid wall oven/microwave, a KitchenAid gas range, and 2 KitchenAid dishwashers at the same time. Everything else is great, but this fridge is a complete lemon. Had problems such as with the ice maker from the 1st month. Terrible design.
Update: I bought an entire KitchenAid suit, had to buy another KitchenAid to match my other appliances. I ended up buying a KitchenAid side by side and love it. Side benefit, complaints to KitchenAid netted me a $2300 check, presumably because they knew the lemon they originally sold me was indeed a lemon. Overall, while it was a struggle and quite an effort, KitchenAid made good, and I'm overall happy at the moment.
Bought one at a Sears close out as a “scratch and dent” It died after 2 or three years- we had warranty and they gave us a brand new one. That one needs $900 in repairs after 2 or 3 years. Going to watch RU-vid videos and try to fix it myself for $350.....
Well, I’ve had this refrigerator for a month now. Love it, best I’ve ever had. The guys that installed it sucked but Home Depot sent out a tech that fixed all the small issues. Anyway thanks for the video.
@@kevinroa2919 Any problem with rust on the doors? I saw this as a problem in another video and there was actually rust on the showroom model! Just wondered about this. More confused than ever what to buy.
Just had ours installed yesterday (after our 23 month old LG broke and can't be fixed due to lack of service people in our area). I am really excited about this new Kitchenaid unit!
Not sure you noticed, but two of your fresh food section shelves have an LED array toward the front for better lighting. Just thought I’d point it out. I am an authorized Whirlpool/Kitchenaid/Maytag repair person.
Mine is 16 months old. Piece of crap! Freezer section is a nightmare! Defrost doesn't work. Won't make ice cubes. But it WILL ice up everything in your freezer! Replaced defrost drain tube... Still freezer over. Manually have to chip away the frost and ice!😖 Ruined my hardwood floor! $3400 LEMON!
We have this refrigerator. The first year we had it, the seals needed to be replaced. The second year many issues started occurring. The defrost mechanism has failed on numerous occasions requiring repair. Freezer had problems not keeping correct temperature. Third year and the computer panel has failed and that panel has now been replaced two times. Issues with the Ice maker not making Ice necessitating more service calls. Most recently the Ice dispenser has failed. Extremely dissatisfied with the reliability of this refrigerator. We are now looking for a replacement refrigerator. Manufacturers are selling extremely poorly made products.
Dude you're like on every one of these reviews. Makes me wonder if you're legit or someone paid by the competition to bash this product. How many times are you going to copy & paste it?
@@ThurstonHowell3rd First off I am NOT a Dude! Secondly this is My personal experience with this Product!! I am NOT being Paid by anyone! You don’t like my review? Well then skip it and go on your way. And STOP harassing Me!!
Dated video since it was posted back in 2016 and some things may have changed. My recommendation (owning a Kitchen Aid fridge bought in 2018) is to go down to Walmart and purchase a Coleman cooler. You'll be much better off in the short and long run. Ours has had so many issues related to electronic system defects. We've now replaced three LED lights at the top of the interior. Lights begin to flicker for a day or so and then go out all together (all five). Replacements have been very difficult to get given the backlogs of manufacturing due to COVID (even a year and a half into the pandemic). The ice maker works well and then goes on strike for a few days and won't produce much. The front panel electronics went haywire for a few hours and backlit symbols flashed on and off. Very disappointed in Kitchen Aid. Their reputation for quality possibly went out the window when they sold out to someone else?
Are you still happy with this fridge and brand now that it’s a couple of years old? I have a Frigidaire that bit the dust after 12 years of amazing use... Lots of parties and family gatherings. It’s worn out. I love everything about this fridge but have seen reviews where people complain that they have so much money invested in repairs and unreliability. I want to get the best fridge with all the features I want and this looks perfect!!!!!!
Iam a heating contractor and after 3 years I have put 500 bucks into this peace of junk . Our friends purchased this frig also they junked it 4 months ago. There is absolutely no help from kitchenaid with questions and we let them send a serviceman 4 times before I decided to fix it . Its running now and it goes from 33 to 50 degrees in 6 hours . My wife is going to order a new one but not a kitchenaid
terrible fridge! I just got the second one installed today, after the first one made loud noises and had problems with a door. Now, the second one doesn't close properly. What a waste of time and money. Hate it!!
Thank you for the review, it looks like it's been couple of years since your post. Since that time, have you had any issues with the unit? I'm currently on the market, considering a purchase of this model. Thank you for any feedback and your time.
We were initially really happy with our purchase; however, 2 years later and this fridge has become a total nightmare. We have had issues with loud noises coming from it that turned out to be related to build up of frost/ice in the back. The temp in the fridge dropped but did not completely stop working, enough to alert us to a problem. It wasn't until 3 members of our family fell ill from food poisoning that we realized that the fridge temp was to blame. We had a tech come out the first time after waiting two days, only to have him look in behind the drawers and see the ice and tell us that there was nothing he could do, he had to get a part. Isn't this something he could have asked us before coming to our house? So now I am taking ANOTHER day off work to wait for him to come back with a part to fix the issue. He de-ices and replaces the compressor fan and we are charged for the parts but not the labor because apparently this was related to a KA recall, which we were never notified of, even though our product is registered with KA. Fast forward 3 weeks, the ice build-up is back and food is ruined again. We call for service and they cannot get a tech out for 4 days. Feeding a family of 6 without a working fridge is a delight. The tech shows up to access the issue this time and says that we need a new motherboard but he has to order that, which takes 5-7 business days. So now we are sitting here with food in coolers, trying to function while waiting this out. I would never buy another KA appliance. Be warned. Customer service is condescending and rude when you have to deal with them. This has been a terrible customer experience, which is SHOCKING considering the $4000 we shelled out for this monster.
@@leereynolds5923 thanks for your feedback. I'm actually looking to get a new refrigerator and I can't seem to find a make that won't fail in two years. I was just thinking kitchen aid would be the best option. After seeing your video and user update I have no clue what to do. Any suggestions? I'm thinking any make I purchase I need to get the maximum warranty..
I have 1 year with this refrigerator and now have problems, is liquefying water in back area lost of water 💦 the engine makes no noise I do not know what is the problem If you have an idea how to repair it, please help me It's the same model
I've learned to be cautious about the top level ice makers. I'm always afraid they'll fail due to past experience. I want a fridge with a bottom and top ice maker in the seemingly likely event the top one fails.
DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE. You would think if you paid 3200.00 you would get a good fridge. Had mine for six years six costly year’s Please stay away from it. I’m in here now see why top two trays frost over. I don’t usually leave comments. Thought I should on this one. Again do not buy this fridge
good luck with that. we got all new kitchen aid appliances in 2017. Refrigerator (french door/ drawers), model is Junk. induction stove/range, Junk (unless you want to wait 30-40 minute for preheating). convection Microwave..Junk. at the end of the day we have a $7,500 dishwasher that seems to be okay. Kitchenaid is JUNK
Same, I got all new kitchen aid appliances (5 door fridge, gas range, and dishwasher) back in 2017. The dishwasher is great! The range is junk and I'm constantly repairing the fridge.
Hi there! Do you still have this fridge? And if so, are you still happy with it? Any issues or major problems? Will appreciate your reply. Thanks in advance!
Phil D We have this model and it started leaking 3 months after delivery. Repairman was sent and deemed unfixable. Condensation was clogged with insulation and couldn't be flushed out. After repairman left, then the water and iced stopped working. Kitchenaid employees are rude, curt and unknowledgeable. Our replacement was to come June 2017 but now they say August 20, 2017. No one ever called to say it wasn't coming, no one ever calls from Kitchenaid you must do all the work. So much for a $4,000. fridge. Ugh!
Mine came with defective water dispenser. Still trying to get bestbuy and Whirlpool to comeout to fix it. None wants to take responsible. This fridge i got is defective. Disappointed. Careful folks.
Curious to how everyone thinks of this product after all this time. My son purchased his and after 5 months everything from water leaks to ice maker problems etc. Then they replaced the unit with a new one and it took 13 months to get it. He has had it for 5 months and has already had a service call on it. Now its not cooling so another service call and much lost food. The unit looks nice and has all the bells and whistles but it is junk. Run from this
We had an issue where the water or ice keeps pouring even when no button was pressed. Happen a few times then it fixed itself. So far good but was very disappointing at the time
About $4,000 but at this time it’s $3,600 something.. this is kittechen aid I just stoped by the store and saw this awesome frig.. by reading all the review I probably have to cancel my order cuz eveyone getting complain about the ice maker
This refrigerator has bad reviews almost bought one but after reading about the compressor is loud, ice maker ice gets stuck bottom freezer leaks . there are many more defects , to long to list them all...
so far its been just about a year and i haven't had a problem, the only issue i had about a month ago was the reading of the filter replacement but they came and fix that at no charge (filter was change but it didn't show that it was replaced) after they fixed it its been working fine. i dont think its loud i have an open kitchen and i barely hear anything. only when ice drops but that normal.
I have 1 year with this refrigerator and now have problems, is liquefying water in back area lost of water 💦 the engine makes no noise I do not know what is the problem
Please keep us posted on your experience. We will likely be purchasing this as a warranty replacement for our Sears model that broke, unfixable, after three years. Nice review - thank you
This refrigerator looks really nice, but has given me tons of problems. I have spent $500 in repairs over the past two years in repairs to this refrigerator. KitchenAid had reached out to me, only to offer me places that could fix it at my own expense. I will never buy another KitchenAid product again. Lesson learned.
Angel Sincere I’m sure they do, but my last refrigerator was half this price, and gave me no issues. In retrospect, it may have been worth spending the extra money to get something higher end.
@@Stpetersburginjurylawyersmp I agree with you. whats the name of the brand you referring to? I rather take reliability over those bells and whistles that will eventually mess up.
Angel Sincere I was thinking of sub zero, Viking, etc. I was talking to my Appliance Repair guy about washers and dryer‘s and he recommended speed queen for their warranty
It is hard to get appliances that claim to be more energy efficient and much more convenient, but doesn't last more than five years. I would take less efficiency if we. Would could get a whirlpool that would last 35 years with little to no maintenance. How the hell do you save money when you have to buy extended warranties, pay for repairs, and then replace all the time.
Biggest pile of garbage. Geek Squad out six times and finally replaced it because the compressor went out. On our second one and now the freezer door needs replacing.
This refrigerator is a problem!!! Buyer beware! I have had it for 3 months and honestly it is not worth the money! The ice maker stops working at will. It has defrosted 2 times and has had an ice build up in the freezer with frost all over the food and drawers. Now it is defrosting again and my food is getting warm. The automatic water dispenser allows you to set the ounces and dispense but the counter gets stuck and you have to continually press the panel hard to make the numbers advance. The spill proof silver counter edge is coming off. It was not glued properly. One of the middle sliding drawers in the freezer has a face that pops off if you open the drawer. At this point I can return this mess and buy and cooler, fill it with some ice and call that a refrigerator! Anything is better than this poorly made beauty!
ladydawnie1 We have the same fridge and had a compressor issue but when they replaced it with a new one it works perfectly fine. Had it for about a year now.
Most refrigerators I've owned don't last, my brother too, we've had multiple brands. My mom instead has had an LG refrigerator and has lasted her like 10 years and still going (only once in those years needed a service because it started cooling less, the service wasn't expensive at all and done in like 30 minutes).
Here is the update on my 2 year old frig. The unit has been down since August 1st 2023 the unit can not be repaired due to lack of available parts. The Home depot warranty company has now refunded 100% of the purchase price plus tax. I wanted to add that in 2020 we bought the Frig , dish washer and range ALL UNITS HAVE FAILED IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS OF USE. What a joke
Yes ours have failed too, we had to get a warranty for one year to repair it. Range would not turn on. Dish washer had an issue with drainage or something like that and currently the fridge has occasional issues where the ice/water would randomly put out ice or water whatever it’s set on. We didn’t put the warranty yet but looks like we might have to if it continues to act up. Smh makes me appreciate old school buttons without electronic components to it.
Wait until people have to pay for parts The issue with this fridge is that the water from the dispenser leaks into the left draw and eventually shorts out the controller which then can short out the power supply for the controllers and finally the main computer @@AngelSincere
Real maple syrup must be refrigerated or it will spoil. Fake maple syrup is so full of chemicals and preservatives it is no surprise that this artificial "food" won't go bad! It's not food!!
1 year of owning this refrigerator and what a piece of junk, 7 service calls and still not working....don't waste your money buy something else....now I am off to buy another refrigerator....
so far the only promblem he had with this particular model is that sensor on the ice and that was replaced under warranty its been about 3 years now with no problems (knock on wood)
Wow, I wonder if that was a known issue or an isolated incident. We haven’t experienced that and it’s been about 4 years. So far it’s been good. ✊🏼 (Knock on screen)
Bookoo c hey thanks for the comment to address your concern try turning up the volume as this video was recorded in raw audio and was not adjusted in editing. Even though I review each video after uploading after seeing this comment I rechecked and all I did was increase the volume just a bit and I heard everything just fine.
Let me add my 2 cents here , stupid people who has no experience in refrigeration please do not post a review video ,,,all what I want to say ,thank you whirlpool for making this garbage and my smile goes form ear to ear when owners of this fridge open their checkbooks ,as far my advice for the manufacturer, please hire engineers who knows their ac circuit from dc ,,, because the dc circuit screws everything in this unit
