In this video, I remove a sink and replace it with a countertop cutting board.
I disconnect and cap the plumbing, cut and install a plastic HDPE cutting board, and also install a double pull out waste container (trash can) below.
This was a simple and functional way to clear off the kitchen counter space and make it usable, and the cutting board gets used regularly.

Great job. I often wonder if something like this takes away value or adds value. I like it. I don't have a sink, but a small kitchen and would rather have a cutting board. First time seeing you. 👏 👏 👏

It’s been nice overall. I like it a lot better than the sink because this provides a flat surface. I don’t use the cutting board as often anymore. It is treated more like countertop space now. It started to get stained up over time from cutting up strawberries and things like that. I pretty much always use a regular cutting board that I keep in a cupboard. Easier than cutting custom replacement cutting boards.

Is the cutting board removable, or did you use some sort of sealant to make sure liquids spilled on the countertop can't drip inside the cabinet? My house came with a wooden built-in cutting board in the counter that is really gross, and I need to figure out a good strategy for replacement. I like the idea of the HDPE sheet.

It’s not sealed. It’s a slip fit so it can be removed and washed. It has worked out well, but at some point I will replace the counter top with a solid surface.
