Gorgious work though I dont think I would have been brave enough to put the sink recessed. Thats trouble when that caulk wears a bit. But I can see the attraction to be sure. Is that maple ?? 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch?
Music was making me feel like he was going to chop his finger off I'm watching this next to my husband and the music almost woke him up 😂 I'm a girl and I would love to do this!
What did you do to prevent damage to the countertop from the dishwasher & water from the sink? Is there some kind of steam diffuser for the dishwasher?
Ikea sells one for the dishwasher; they prompted me to buy it when I bought their countertops. Not sure about the sink surround-- the idea of undermounting creeps me out given that I've had a GRANITE countertop warp on a seam due to water damage.... looking for answers myself.
great job guys, hope you could answer a question. getting ready to tackle a butcher block countertop and I have a 90* degree right angle. would you cut your corner at two 45* degree angles or but one up to the other? they'll be here in a week and i'm starting to panic. thanks
Can we take a look at that install now, four years on? Lots of moisture on gluelam counter = splitting/mess. Glad to be proved wrong. Nice work on the video!
William Martin - that’s been my experience with the IKEA countertop. The seams near the sink failed due to moisture, and there is rot behind sink too- but it’s been over 10 years
You just screwed into the sink rim?! My undermount came with clips but they're too large and will hit the other cabinet frames. What kind of screws did you use? Self taping stainless metal screws? Did you predrill anything? Is really appreciate your response, I'm stuck on this step and will be installing the counters in a week or so.
Looks beautifully done! How did you connect the the counter top to the wall? IKEA wants to sell me an ugly connection rim, claiming silicone would make black stains in the wood. Is that really a problem or total BS? Thanks for your time
I love that video! THANKS! I am having those counters and a similar sink installed next week. The installers won't do the undermount...scared of making a bad cut. Any tips you can add? Also what was the glue you used to hold the sink up & I didn't see the silicone..maybe that 'glue' was the silicone. It also looks like the 'cut part' around the sink was bare. Did you put anything on it/recommend anything to protect it? THANKS!!! I am getting a little nervous! :)
Being in construction myself you guys did a great job, but i question why did you have the camera cut near the end??? Anyway it was good to see you cut the right line for the sink, can't tell you how many times I've seen guys cut on the wrong line and still insist they were right. Nice looking countertop.
Is there an obvious back or front to this product? I am trying to calculate how much I will need. I only have one corner and I am trying to determine if I can make a single 45 degree cut and just flip the piece over to create 90 degree corner, or if I need to buy enough to have salvage. Thanks!
Hey guys, great video! You do awesome work! I'm trying to do something similar to my island, just got some white oak from lumber liquidators. At about 1:05 of this video you used a tool to create what looks like a dove tail in the edge to bind the two pieces together...can you tell what tool that is?
Great video and great job. I was looking into installing a wood counter top. That is a pretty snug fit, especially in the area with no back splash. Don't you need to leave more room for the seasonal expansion and contraction of the wood? Am asking because I was planning to leave an eighth inch gap if I decide to go with the butcher block.
Nice job, but what an infernal racket! No wonder you guys all turn deaf at 25. Now, about this project... 1. No glue on 2nd half of biscuit join, tsk! tsk! Not good. 2. Are you drilling pocket holes for an angled join on the GOOD side of this wood? 3. Sink hole left the open wood grain exposed. I did not see any epoxy sealer applied to this edge??? 4. Did you seal the wood, or leave it unfinished for client? This is half a project.
