I actually did the same thing for the cutting board part and did not know what to do with the back of the stand. I came looking on RU-vid and found you. Thanks so much for the video. But I do want to be able to use it for a tablet or a cookbook.
+Mike Kapotsy thanks! The other glue bottle broke and this was the only option outside of spending money. Luckily I had seen several people do this already so the idea came quickly.
Great video Chris! Had a laugh at the dangling tape measure (at around 1:18). Reminded me of that happening so many times but was funny in my mind when seen in fast motion.
+Just Make It I thought of that and meant to record a clip of it holding a book, but the video was already made by the time I realized that I forgot. Thanks for watching!
whoa, I didn't know pallets were ever made of anything other than pine! I gotta keep an eye out for better wood. I wonder if I ever threw out oak thinking it was old and messy pine...
+Braxton Wirthlin actually that is an old one that has been relinquished to the kids for their princess games and Netflix cartoon lovin' selves. My wife and I have our own although they do end up getting used by the kids a lot because they kill the battery in theirs in no time, haha!
+Lucien Lasocki I've actually never had many issues with snipe. The infeed and outfeed tables are angled a bit so that they angle down towards the planer. Maybe that helps? I actually had a bit of snipe on this project, but it happened at first so most of it planed out and that end got cut off anyway. Also I don't ever take a lot off with each pass. It takes longer, but I like to go slow and maybe that helps as well. Sorry I can't tell you anything more definitive. One thing some people have done is make a long platform that you attach to the planer. It basically gives you a lot more infeed and outfeed support. Drew Short made a how to video on his channel, Rockin H Woodshop. Check it out, I've heard it works well.
Great Project and Build Chris, they would have made great pressies at Christmas time, did you do any for pressies? Hope you and your family have a great New Years Eve and a Happy 2016 to you all. Take Care, Barry from England.
+Barry Roberts yes, actually, both of them were gifts for Christmas, which is the reason I waited to post the video. I gave the second one out today. I would've made more, but that pallet was mostly cracked up wood. It was oak, too, so too bad I couldn't get any more good wood from it. Thanks for watching!
Thats actually what I was searching for. Thanks for sharing. And merry christmas and a happy new year! And I subscribed. Great stuff you did! You´re on IG?
his and hers tab holders??nice. 2pts for chris!!;) -what was that princess game at the end...??HMMMMchris??lol happy 2016 bro.looking forward to seeing what you do
+Joe basementwoodworking thanks Joe! I made two of them both as Christmas gifts. When I first went to test it out my daughter insisted that I try it with the old iPad that they play games on, so of course the only thing on there is princess stuff, haha.
I noticed the competitive cooks on the new cooking shows are using something like this to hold their ipads or tablets so that they can read the ingredients without touching the screen. Thanks for the video.
Unfortunately, I made these as gifts and don’t have them, so I can’t measure. You might be able to look at the product details of a cutting board on Amazon or something and see how big those are. And then just make one around the same size. Just make sure it’s bigger than an iPad or tablet.
+Gloria Espriu Another idea I had at first was to just go buy a wooden bread board from the store and just add an easy stand on the back and something simple to hold the ipad on the front. Maybe you can experiment that way? Thanks for watching and commenting. Sorry my response is so late. I'm having to play catch up now.
Hi... and happy new year! Will you sell me one that you have completed? I am far from handy!!! I am definitely "P.D.D.I.Y" PLEASE DON'T DO IT YOURSELF!!!
