After 17 years and 30 hours of original flight, this will be the first flight of our Kitfox IV Classic aircraft on Feb 2020 at West Desert Airport, Utah
How exciting! I am still flying my Kitfox IV and loving it. Your plane looks amazingly like mine, even has the now rare droop tips! I wish you many years of pleasure and adventure!
It does have a 582 in this video, now it has a 912ULS 100hp. The 582 is very good for 1 person but at least at 4,500' I needed a little more power. Both great engines.
I found a KIT FOX 4 1200 in a BARN !! a Barn Finder !! bought it for $4,500 with a trailer too. I can't believe it, all ready to fly only very minor engine work needed rotax 912 I can't believe I bought it !! I don't even fly !! lol now what >>
My goodness, what a find! That plane and trailer are worth at least $40K. The 2 options will be to fly it or to sale it. To fly it you will need a Private or a Sport license. With either one, you will also need a tailwheel endorsement. Congratulations.
Nice looking Kitfox! Is that a Rotax 582? What was the reason it hadn’t flown for 17 years? Looks like it was hangared but curious if sitting for so long caused any issues with the engine? Did you find any other issues? Thanks!
The original owner took very good care while the plane was stored. I did have to change the pistons and piston rings. New gaskets on the carbs. Him and I are very good friends.
Great job Jim! I had a similar situation with my Kitfox 4 parked in 2003. Now my son is flying it. Same color as yours. Here is a link to his first solo in the Kitfox: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ClTFpdtW8wg.html Cheers, Kirby
No taxi tests or any preliminary ground handling .... you are a braves man ... not even a get it off the ground and set it back down to make sure it will track. Brave or just a dope.
I flew my KR2 the first high speed taxi test .I was about to depart the runway because of a gust so I put full power and lifted off and flew it for 1/2 hr and landed. It happen a lot on high speed taxi test . Accidents happen during high speed taxi test .
We did about 3 hours of ground test, we stop checked engine, temps, let the engine cool for 30 minutes, more ground test, checked the brakes, the steering, some fast taxing, stop, let the engine cool again, check oil, water, leaks until it was time to fly. In reality this video represents 4 days, 3 hours of testing and 4 hours of total flight, Every day we had no wind.
If you get it off the ground you just did the same thing as flying it . High speed taxi test is no different really . You just have to go for it .You can't really test aerodynamics on the ground .
@@jimsandoval7633 Anyone who builds an airplane will be very cautious in following procedures and insuring quality of the materials and workmanship because his safety depends on it . Proper checks and rechecks all aside when it comes down to it you have to have the guts to risk your life and fly your creation out of ground effect .
Here we go!!! You tube pilots. Bill did you think you seen it all in 8 mins? Jim you are a good man I would not have given this guy a second of explanation. Congratulations Jim, well done 👍
