Very nice video. brings back memories. The security fence behind Harvey Barracks is no longer there. We used to hike across the field to go to Beeno's Guesthouse, best Hungarian Goulash ever!

I too was stationed in Kitzingen, but much later in 1983-84 & have many treasured memories, including inside the Frankinsher Hof & Akropolis, both of which are shown here. I also had a lady friend a block from there. I loved Germany & always will!

About 20 years ago, when the US garnison was active, Kitzingen was not so beautiful! but also had a certain charm! through the small American pubs where GI's enjoyed the Kitzinger beer, and every young woman was greeted with hello sunshine (the GI's said Kitzingen is the small Las Vegas on the Main River).

My father was stationed there in 1963 and my mother came along and lived in Kitzingen. Thus I was born in Wurzburg army hospital. I wish someone had pictures of Kitzingen in 1963.

Boy, that's pretty wild. My father was stationed in Kitzingen from 59-61, we lived there when I was 9-11. My mom was originally from Stuttgart so we all spoke the language...was a great time. Get this, my dad's name was Bob Macdonald. There's a Bob MacDonal in the video on the Fasching float but I don't think it's my father...will have to see if one of my kids can blow the picture up for me so I can see it better. Would be wild if it's him. Thanks for posting.

I was stationed at Harvey Barracks from 4/30/60 until 1/13/63, it seems President JFK wanted our services as long as he could keep them after the Berlin Wall went up and we were all happy with that. It truly was a great time to be part of that beautiful area. I was a specialist 5 assigned to Comany E, 1st Med Tank Battalion 68th Armored Battalion, Armored support to the 3rd Infantry Division. I am mow 74 and still kicking even after a tour in Vietnam in the 11th ACR. FOR God and Country Forever

I spent several years in Kitzingen from Jul 75 to Oct 77. Was with the 3rd ID DDC at Larson Barracks. What a great time. My NCOIC was SFC Underwood, then SFC Saunders and SSG Kirkman. LT Borman what happened to you? My room mate was SPC Tom Stollings. Volksmarches and Fasching and Christmas. I had gate guard Dec 75 for the entire month. Wow that was a wonderful time.

It's me Dink. Frank Delia, Bob Cabreara, John Poulos...are you guys from the 2d Btn - 82d Arty - 1959 still out there? I've hooked up with Carl Whittle. We have been having a blast exchanging photos from that time. I don't recognize the name of who made this video but it brought tears to my eyes. Ken Dankwardt

Hi I was born in Kitzingen in feb 1960 My dad was there and it sounds like that was his line of work. Does the name Ron Farneth ring any bells?
@kennethdankwardt3229
@kennethdankwardt3229 11 лет назад
Herb, the name doesn't ring a bell. But at our age now, what does? This is Ken Dankwardt - "Dink". I worked down in the basement in a little drafting room next to the armor. I've been in contact with Carl Whittle. We've been having a blast going over old times. Dink

Lloyd Pierce...the name sounds familiar. This is Ken Dankwardt (Dink) the unit draftsman. I've connected with Carl Whittle. Refresh my memory (some times it needs it) Dink
