I was station there with 2nd platoon, 212th Military Police company in 1881-1982. About 16 months. Made some good friends, some who are gone now. Jeff Black of Oregon died in 2018. Eric Victor Franklin of Chicago Illinois died in 1997. My two best friends while I was there. God bless both.
I was there in '81-'82. I was an 05C, Radio teletype operator, Morse code qualified. I was there for 18 months and made the bonehead move of leaving in July 1982. It was a great place, wasn't it?
2nd platoon Mad Dogs from 2002 to 2007. Our platoon got re-assigned from 212th MP Co to 630th MP Co in 2004 for our first Iraq deployment. We stayed with 630th MP Co. 212th was a pos company. Glad we were no longer assigned to them.
Stationed there 1989-1991. Speed and Power. HHC 1/69 AR. Was fortunate enough to go back there last month. Recommendation to all, don't go. Cherish the old memories.
@Rage Theatre2020 I meant Larson, but stayed at both. Yes, I was just watching a youtube video of KITZINGEN, and all these memories started flooding back! I remember most of those places, including the church with the gold inlay and copper roof, which is the first thing you see if you turn your head to the right, after getting off the bridge.
@Rage Theatre2020 Did you ever ride out to the park on top of the hill about 5 kilometers outside of town? I did! I walked there! It took a few hours but when I got to the bottom of the hill, there were wine grape vineyards on both sides as you went up the hill. At the top was the park. You can see it in this video as it rotates around. It is the largest hill to the right. I took the back way and walked by all those small buildings that the officers lived and worked in, out the back way, and followed that road out of Kitzingen to the next town. Remember how each town had the EXACT SAME SMELL (sheep shit), and ONE TALL TREE THAT GREW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE USUALLY ONE OR TWO BLOCK TOWNS! Each family in those small towns had a small farm that they cultivated. Some even had larger farms where they grew more crops. There were many times I passed the farmer working the fields. I followed that road out and it took me right to the park. And of course, the other times I went in the OTHER direction into KITZINGEN itself. It's funny, I was just watching about 5 videos of Kitzingen, and I STILL, to this day, almost 40 years later, remember some of those buildings, including the SEX SHOP (the front is in one of the videos), and the very famous church, the first one you see if you go over the bridge and turn your head to the right. It has gold inlay and a copper roof, which makes it stand out. I even remember some of the roads, including the street that lead up to Larson Barracks. Funny how these memories just come right back once I watched these videos.
@Rage Theatre2020 You can see it in the video when they are panning first to the right. It is the largest and flattest hill. It had to be about 5K from Kitzingen.
@Rage Theatre2020 Thank you so much for the memories! That's all I've thinking about now for the past THREE DAYS! It was a great time and the more I think about it, the more I miss it!
I was there from '90-'93. 92nd Chemical Co. best years of my life were spent in Germany more specific 92nd Chem and being stationed on Harvey barracks.
Wow!! Thank you for this trip down memory lane. It’s sad to see it in that condition. I saw Delta but I was looking for Bravo. Miss this place soo much. 98-01
I was stationed on Harvey from 94-95. I was in Eco 703rd TOW Missile Shop "We Launch the Rock!" I was transferred to the 3/4 Cav MST "Team Cav" in Schweinfurt on Conn Barracks in Feb of 1995. Thanks for posting!
So sad to see this place I called home for almost 4 years (1977-1980) of my life so unkept and barren. As I look back to those years I have only great memories of the men and women I knew during those years. So wish the army didn't transfer me back to the US. I loved it there and if I could I would like to one day return
i was there from 1980 to 1982 with 1/15 mech inf. as a medic. it was a thriving post, it's heartbreaking to see its state of affairs. i would love to see some of my old Army buddy's so if your out there i would love to hear from you
Wow! I was in 92nd Chem bldg 119/121 right next to 703rd barracks from 91-93. Those were some great times. Partying and the TP(Tanz Palace) and the Coconut😊

perhaps doing the EFMB test in Kloster forest. I Failed the night land nav both years...…..got a "Marne Medic" certificate instead. I wanted that award so bad.
We were there with the 83rd ord, we came back with the 83rd when it transfered to Ft Mead. My husband took one look at the new first sargent and said, I think I'll get out and go back to college
Joe Boo indeed joe! thanks for responding, i often think of kitzingen and the good times i had with some of the best friends i ever knew! i was there from 1980-1982. now i know it wasn't really Dracula's grave, do you know anything about who was actually buried there?
@@thisolddog2259 I'm not sure if anybody was. I think there were a few burial spots around Europe. Supposedly different body parts in different graves. Something of an easter egg from 100+ years ago. Reminds me of the plot from Castlevania II: Simon's quest. It's pretty cool, though. The story I heard was that the Kitzingen tower, the top leans a little bit, was supposed to fall on you if you tried to dig him up.
A fraulein I was dating there in 1984 told me it was the last known descendant of the Count. I have pictures of it.....it definitely stood out...….against the wall with the black iron fence...….complete with bats and what looked like possibly ivory skulls.
HHC..1/15 Infantry Battalion " can do"...2nd brigade... 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division... Great memories.....we were young and free...or dum and full of ***.. .but had a great time.... I think that most of us...who served anywhere in Germany..will consider that time as one of the best of our lives...if not the Best......
Your company was our neighbor at Harvey...………………………...I was with HHC 3/63 Armor in 84-85 as a 91bravo(medic)...…...I think the building number was 120????
I was stationed there 71 and 72 1/15 infantry A at Harvey barracks and I went on the river cruise Amsterdam to Budapest and stopped at wurzburg and managed to go to Kitzigen and it look all different dead but it brought back memories
I was with 3/63 Armor back in 84-85. Our barracks was right next to a large farm by the back gate. there was no perimeter fence then, I remember the shepards coming right on post with the dogs and sheep...…... If you walked straight through the field, you'd come out at Benos gassthaus, not far from the military entrance to Kloster forest.
