I loved watching Kizmit solving those find the food in the bag challenges! So great to see them exercising natural behaviors in captivity. That's my favorite part of Animal Wonders. It made me so happy to see Kizmit tearing and digging to get to his food!
Every time I watch an AnimalWonders video, I think "this animal is definitely my favorite." But really, Kizmit is my favorite. I love her little grumpy stomps in that last video. :)
I love your videos, they bring me so much joy. I have ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and one of my special interests is animals. Watching your videos make me so happy and optimistic for the future, because I have to own an animal rescue when I am an adult.
Could you use a front clip dog harness on her? It would prevent the leash from touching her quills. Or even a normal harness with a ring on the neck part.

ignore, redirect, and reward is a long-standing method for dealing with humans. It is how you try to give a good life to people who are severely autistic. You never punish, you never harm. you ignore, redirect,( find a thing or activity they love to give them) reward them for doing the thing they like. Usually by giving more time doing it. There are a lot of ways this can work. Mostly you don't want to harm the person you are working with, be careful, kind, and aware.
We used shed african crested porcupine quills at an archaeology field school I worked at a couple years ago. Bone is too delicate to clean with metal, clay tools were too blunt, and the thin porcupine quills were both strong and thin so they could break the seal between the dirt and bone really easily. I still have mine in my toolkit, though I haven't had much opportunity to use it recently.
She weighs about 40lbs so actually lifting her up without getting poked by her quills might be impossible, lol! She still loves climbing into a lap, though.
I just happened to notice the harness you have attached to Kizmit (as a baby)...I wish I could've caught up with you when she was a baby... Allow me to explain why... Back in September of 2020, I adopted a 1 1/2 ibs Yorkie puppy ...in doing so,vwe had a very difficult time to find a harness that would suit her at that size. Well, one day while I was browsing for a dog food for our k9 baby, I came across a harness designed for exceptionally small dogs. I must mention that I do NOT work in a pet store nor do I work for any pet supply chain/mfg. However, the brand I'm referring to is called Belt Buddies and at first, I was very sceptical about this "other" brand (Belt Buddies) myself...I took my baby to the pet store where the harness was sold and much to my surprise, the harness we choose fit her tiny body perfectly. After spending several dollars on collars and leashes, this one finally fit and she had no problem getting used to the harness.
Oh, I liked that a LOT. She is adorable. And now I know her whole story better. Airlines moving pets is the worst. So sad they let her get so cold. Shame.
I know this is late and I'm sorry about that, but I only JUST found your channel a day or two ago. Anyway, I was wondering, do you ever get visitors to Animal Wonders? Like, instead of you bringing animals to an event, are people allowed to come to you?
