KJRH-TV adopted the numeric "2" logo of fellow NBC affiliate WESH & also the "circle 2" logo that was used by KHON & WKRN. Also, the late Ed Hopkins provided VO work for this station & others in addition to fellow NBC affiliate WNYT in Albany, NY.

This was his first client, going back to 1980. Ed was from Tulsa and Scripps liked him so much he became their main VO for their TV stations in the 80s-90s.

@@theidjunkie5344He was also the main VO for WNYT in the 1980s right on through the 2010s until he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in September 2019.

Ed Hopkins also was the brother of Tulsa radio personality David Michaels,known professionally as 'Wavy Davy',who hosted the afternoon drive on classic rock station KJSR 103.3 The Eagle(formerly Star 103.3 and briefly branded as Rock 103.3 before changing to it's current branding)for many years,currently the afternoon drive host of 92.9 The Drive.

Out of curiosity I just checked out WESH's news opening history on here and saw that they indeed used the very same numeric 2 logo that KJRH used from the late 70s to 1990. I also discovered that from 1992 to 1997 Doc Morgan,the VO guy of KOTV 6 for some 35 years now,was the VO for WESH as well while said station also used the Primetime News music package that KOTV used from 1995 to 2001.

The station experienced a ratings decline between late 1994 and late 1996 after it adopted the same news format that was introduced by WHDH in 1993. Stations in conservative markets like Tulsa never fare well with tabloid news formats, and despite the abandonment of the format in early 1996, the station’s ratings would not recover until the late 2000s.
