Hi Devon! I'm a broadcaster from Eastern NC. Many, many years ago - in fact, it was the summer after my high school graduation in 1989. I remembered hearing your dad on Power 98 WBPR-FM in Myrtle Beach, SC. I had been there many times on vacation. The next summer, I landed a summer gig at the then easy listening station (Joy92). I think your dad was still rockin' at Power, which is what I would listen to when I wasn't playing elevator music on Joy. My late father, also a broadcaster had a very energetic, comic relief-laced presentation, similar to that of your dad. It is a style of radio that is gone forever. Your dad was a pro! When I heard him for the first time in Myrtle Beach, I was just a teenager doing part-time radio and the Internet wasn't around. So, I really had no way of knowing he came from major markets, like Los Angeles. His talent entertained millions of people and brought smiles to many faces. His love of radio came through his presentation. He is missed by many. May he rest in peace.

I think the coolest time to be a teenager was in the 60's. Had best music best and most colorful DJ's. Like Big Jack, King Kirby, Larry Morrow and the list goes on. I was not a teen in the 60's but it was still the best time to be one.. Used to watch his TV show on WKYC on Saturdays. Don't remember the time always wanted to see his show in color. Never did, did not have color set. Too young to go see him when he appeared in person. I used to cut out every picture of him that appeared in the P.D. ACTION TAB.

Great memories of Jack! We had him in Boston shortly at WMEX 1510 circa 1968 I believe he left for CHUM soon after. Enjoyed his rapid fire delivery. RIP...........

I remember Jack Armstrong and the " gorilla" on Los Angeles radio ca. 1980s. It 's great to see what he looked like , because I pictured him wearing a big afro and sunglasses , lol!

Wow, I don't remember those call letters at all but it was definitely a competitive radio market back then: KROQ, KMET, KJLH, KDAY, KIIS, KNAC. Lots of great music choices!
