UPDATE BELOW.
I bought the Mundschenk a few weeks ago, and this last weekend put it through its first boil test. I'll go over its features, how it assembles, and any points I find along the way that should be called out.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with this unit - though I have to admit, it's big. Like, really big. Even for me, this is big.
UPDATE 04.07.2021: After having run six or seven batches through this unit, it has developed a defect. It now turns itself off spontaneously 15-60 seconds after beginning a mash cycle. This renders the unit effectively useless. I am returning it for an exchange, to get a new one. This didn't stop it from ruining a complete brew's worth of grain, however.
I will assume for now that this was a fluke, but I am seeing on various forums that I am not unique in experiencing this problem. If the exchange unit functions without a problem I will continue my recommendation of the unit. However, until the function of the replacement can be confirmed good, my recommendation at this time is *BUYER BEWARE*.
UPDATE 26.07.2021: I have received a replacement from Klarstein, new in box. I will run a batch through it as soon as we get a cool-temperature weekend.
Update 12.11.2021: After we finally had some cool weather, I ran a batch through it last weekend - everything went by the numbers, no problems at all. Mash efficiency was fine, no scorching, all good.
