I’m going to say it until it happens: Klatt and Colin need to do a whole show together. Their chemistry is amazing, they’re entertaining together, and Klatt is Fox’s most underutilized asset on their team
This is easily the best part of the show. If this part came on daily I’d actually probably watch live. Joel Klatt and Colin have the perfect chemistry in dialogue
I found he was the first time I heard someone make it clear, everyone spends time talking about college football champions, and there are only a few teams that can ever win it. And Michigan isn’t one of them. It is “Harbaughs year” if he beats everyone but OS, which they don’t do.
Michigan hired Harbaugh for 2 reasons. Beat Ohio State and win championships. They did not hire him to be 10-3 with a bowl loss. He is/ was their savior. Their God. Not anymore.
Klatt is losing credibility for me with the Michigan takes. He makes any and every excuse for Harbaugh. Just over it. Alabama is at a historic clip and their biggest rival Auburn beats them every few years. No excuse.
Many times the elite recruits available in the south...it’s not a coincidence that when Bama loses its to other Southern schools like LSU/Auburn/Clemson etc. Michigan can’t recruit on that level...only OSU can in the Big 10.
Desmond Upshaw:. I hate how the both of them making excuses for Michigan, talking about how they can't compete with OSU year in and out. The rivalry is called OSU/Michigan. There would be no rivalry if OSU is supposed to win 80% of the time.
Not only does Auburn beat Alabama every few years , but they’ve won 2 of the last 3 and since 2000 they lead the series 11-10. The fact that Michigan has only won 3 against Ohio State since 2000 is mind-boggling.
I don’t get how Michigan gets this blue blood tag? They’ve won 1.5 national championships....and this coming from someone who’s family is from and roots for Michigan.
With respect, how far back can you remember? The Big Ten used to be a more elite conference and a lot of the time Michigan was the best team in the conference. Good teams would lose to Michigan. They would play up to competition and more often than not beat their rivals. Saying Michigan was a dynasty is a stretch, but by all means they were an elite program. You may look at a number like only one 12 win season and think they were never very good but if you watched back in the day, they were a force. Ohio State has only won one national title this past decade, and have averaged less than 1 post-season win per year in that time (in an era where you can win 3) yet it would be absurd to say they’re not a blue blood. Michigan used to be that, winning conference titles regularly but being average at best in bowl games. Just because the seasons were shorter then doesn’t mean they weren’t similarly (although perhaps less consistently) successful in those eras as Ohio State is now.
Michigan is good. They are just a 9-10 win program, that’s all they will ever be. Won’t ever be a Big Ten or National Championship team contender. As a Michigan fan I have come to realize this. I thought Harbaugh would take us there, and he hasn’t. 😭
@@Jsailor1210 From an OSU fan, I say hang in there J. Michigan football is a storied program with a blue blood tradition. They will be back, but I don't think Harbaugh will do it.
@@bobmiller1902 Honestly I all I want is competitive games with you guys. Like 2006, 2016 edge of your seat games. Good luck on the rest of your season. Don’t think you need it, see y’all December 12 in the shoe.
@@Jsailor1210 Best rivalry in all of sports. The games you mentioned took years off my life. I can't sleep the night before "The game". Good luck buddy.
With 2 top 10 match ups this week they spend almost half the interview on Michigan lol then we get Klatt coming up with excuses for Michigan over and over again. We get the love FOX has for the big 10, big 12, and pac 12 but it’s ok to talk about teams from the south you know the area where all the best football players come from.
"I just want to wake up one day and not talk about presidents. Can't i just go to the grocery store, go to Costco, get a big tub of mayonaisse and sit there by myself and enjoy it?" Colin. hahahaha
I guess Klatt forgot that in addition to owning M the last 13 years, 2 big Ten Championships and one playoff appearance. Something M will never do. Again, M arrogance extreme.
UM shares the record on B10 titles. Yes, been decades but let's not cherry pick. On the playoff, maybe true. Sparty has done a great job since Dantonio.
@@johngalt6838 The new era/statistics of Big 10 football started with the two division realignment. The problem with M alum is the fact they do not realize it was long ago and keep on thinking the return to glory will happen because "it's Michigan". An adjustment to their present realty will go a long way to becoming a better organization.
This is easily the best part of the show. If this part came on daily I’d actually probably watch live. Joel Klatt and Colin have the perfect chemistry in dialogue
UM is irrelevant but they were last competitive with a too run heavy Rich Rod team but in reality UM hasn't been competitive nationally since the early-mid 2000
Mel Tucker toughened Colorado up...then lied through his teeth...actually went on a frikin media tour-did all the local talk shows tour...THE DAY BEFORE HE WENT TO MICHIGAN ST! Told everybody he wasn't going anywhere, all the while knowing he's negotiating. I know coaches do this..but not usually the same frikin day. He's a good coach, who has no scruples, no integrity,& no way I'd trust my son to him for 4 or 5 yrs. If I had a son-I have 2 daughters. But this dude will be off to a better college job, or the NFL-if somebody offers him an extra $100. BTW, I grew up with Joels brother-he's awesome. But I knew Sumlin would be a disaster at Arizona, cuz he was a joke at Texas A&M. Good recruiter..horrible game day coach. He had 1 of the most talented offenses ever at A & M-with Manziel, Mike Evans,& about 7 other guys who made the NFL,& underachieved. I'm not saying I knew Herm Edwards would succeed..but I had no doubt Sumlin wouldn't.
The fact that ND has a great shot at beating #1 Clemson really tells a story on what a GREAT job Brian Kelly has done with the program up to this point. With an exception of 2016, he’s really helped this program regain its footing from the late 2000’s. Idc what anyone says, When Notre Dame is good, college football is so much better
@@rwsooner38 it's why they always get destroyed in the playoff they're "selected" in. Playing vandy, wake, GT.....they have one tough game a year and lose it.
@@johngalt6838 This is the uneducated hater take. Here’s the deal. 2012 BK overachieved with the remnants of Weis’s roster. Had a great regular season but obviously not near elite yet. After the 2016 Van Gorder debacle, BK revamped program. The 2018 team was solid but didn’t have depth yet. The Cotton Bowl was a 9-3 game late second. Julian Love got hurt and Lawrence picked on Vaughn and got two TDs. ND is way better now, deeper depth, and is a very well coached team. Clemson was missing TL and a few defensive players but ND manhandled them in trenches. That physicality will still be there in December.
My goodness are these takes terrible. Imagine Texas boosters (and yes, Klatt is clearly a Michigan booster) being ok with a coach that beats everyone except....you know.....Oklahoma because they're on an historic run. When Klatt's not carrying water for Harbz, he's making lame excuses for him. Last week, he said Joe Milton was a hybrid of Josh Allen, Cam Newton...and why not throw in Randy Cunningham, Warren Moon and Michael friggin' Vick to boot. Now? "(Harbaugh) still hasn't figured out the QB." Wow. Just wow.
Herm has worked, Joel Klatt and Colin Cowherd says "why"?. Why do ya'll think, Herm Edwards can COACH. These guys are always looking for a "shocking" answer to every question. Dam.
My dream sports show would be some kind of debate show (with actual debating not just yelling) with Cowherd, Klatt, Will Cain, and Pat McAfee. Klatt and Cowherd would bring the kind of experienced veteran personality. McAfee would be the young brash guy. And Cain would be the guy to bridge the gap between McAfee and then Cowherd and Klatt
Klatt is overlooking details here. Michigan has only won 12 games once, but it’s because they haven’t been elite in the era where you can play up to 15 games. You can win 12 games without even winning your conference nowadays, that was unheard of the previous 100 years of college football. Michigan may never have been Alabama, but by no means are they currently anywhere close to the program they used to be. Remember the 90’s? Beat undefeated Ohio State teams even with 2-3 losses 2 years in a row, won a national title the year after that. In the early 2000’s they were going toe-to-toe with Jim Tressel’s teams who were performing at a similarly high level (higher?) as Ohio State is playing in this era. Michigan was able to beat teams who were better than them. Michigan would play smart football. Michigan would be very competitive against all of their rivals no matter how good they all were, and despite having so many rivals they would more often than not be the top dog of the Midwest. The Big House was an intimidating place to play. Michigan would win the close games. None of this is the case these days. Is asking Michigan to be Saban’s Alabama reasonable? No. Is asking Harbaugh to have ONE season where they can win close games, beat Ohio State and win a Big 10 title or 11+ games reasonable? Of course it is, it’s what the standard is at that program. If Auburn can beat Bama once every few years Michigan should do the same to Ohio State. Winning 10 games in today’s CFB is a mediocre standard compared to what this program used to be, without a doubt. I like Joel Klatt but he is really missing the boat with that take.
Michigan is arguably the greatest bastion of academic excellence across the board in the nation ( all academic majors both undergrad and grad levels) and possibly the world, with zero apologies to Oxford. This fact along with the fact that revered Michigan refuses to cheat like SEC and ACC Scumbag schools , and the fact that unlike nearly every major college program it's scholar warriors football players do not take illegal PEDs or steroids all combine to limit UM'S on field success. Harbaugh is a great coach but Michigan has to play schools with one arm tied behind its back because the strict UM administrators and admissions do not allow any cheating of amy kind whatsoever nor any recruit that lacks " M8chigan Man" character. Finally, revered Michigan is often hurt by corrupt jealous refs. There! The truth that needed to be said. Case really closed.
I'm a grad of both MSU and UM. There's just something different in the attitude of the students and alumni of the two schools, no surprise. But the unending feeling of entitlement of fans of UM is at times insufferable. They have never learned to deal with disappointment. I've been to UM alumni gatherings to watch football in the past where the attendees were sad because UM didn't beat the other team by at least 20 points! Whereas, at least pre-MD, MSU watch parties were fun if the game was close, even if MSU lost. Jim Harbaugh wasn't just supposed to beat OSU, win the Big Ten, and go on to national championship games regularly, the fans expected UM to dominate the world!!!!
After Michigan State managed to lose at home to conference doormat Rutgers, I wonder if any Vegas sharp had the guts to bet big on the Spartans beating Harbaugh's Wolverines? You could probably retire on that money.
Klatt it’s not working well! He wasn’t hired to beat Maryland. He was hired to do all the things he hasn’t done! And stop downplaying OSU bc we can’t beat them. MSU beat OSU with half the talent.
Klatt is such a smart guy, how is he so blind on Michigan? Of course Michigan isn’t on the same level as OSU, they’re not even on the same level as Wisconsin or Penn State. Now they can’t beat MSU.
Colin right away, with somebody elses players... Wtf are you suppose to do ? Lose every game your first couple years because they aren't your players..
Klatt is a clown. Harbaugh is paid to be on the level of Ohio State If he can't do that, he should admit that Michigan is not on level of Ohio State. He is being paid to beat Ohio State. He can't.
Rich Rod was right. Michigan has too high academic standards to recruit the best of the best athletes. They refuse to lower their standards and become an Ohio State where as long as you can tie your shoes and spell your name your in.
