I like seeing Saami representation in this, and Margu is so adorable.

The boatman was voiced by Norm Macdonald in his last role released while he was alive. He sadly passed away last year Awesome comedian

This is a film that I believe will become a Christmas classic that we show our kids and they show their kids. In regards to Margu and the Saami, the filmmakers actually found a Saami girl to speak the language. SO what you hear is the Saami language. The Saami are indigenous peoples of Scandinavia whose culture and history inspired elements of Frozen and Frozen II.

I love this movie on so many level, starting with the amazing cast, to the beautiful visuals, not to exclude how they went into minute details every little bits of xmas magic such as to why he goes through chimneys, milk and cookies, flying slay, the coal, straight down to the word “Jesper” written on the slay. This movie is an instant holiday classic whether you believe in Santa or not.

Fun fact: Klaus is a 2019 English-language Spanish (Spain) animated Christmas film written and directed by Sergio Pablos in his directorial debut, produced by his company

My dad is obsessed with this movie. He literally made my whole family watch the movie with him haha. It’s so good!! We been watching it every December since it came out.

“Into the Spiderverse” started the trend of having 3D animation being overlapped with 2D textures. This movie does the reverse of that! Truly a gorgeous masterpiece

I like how the reveal about the presents at the end explains why Klaus was so pissed at Jesper. It wasn’t anger at being “used”, but rather “we had a plan and you screwed it up” lol. Hence why he immediately invited Jesper back onto the sleigh after the reveal

The feud in this movie is based off the real life feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys.

I was surprised by how good this movie was too. As a Swede I suspected it might be set in Scandinavia or Russia but wasn't sure, then when Margo showed up wearing that all too familiar Saami dress I've seen irl on the natives I was like a saami girl? where did you come from? it gave it away lol, adorable little girl.

My favorite Christmas Movie ❤️❤️❤️ what a masterpiece!

Something interesting I noticed just now is that hair color differentiates the different types of people. Redhead Ellingbows, black haired Crums, and blonde/white haired outsiders.

I like how this borrows a little bit from Santa Claus Is Coming To Town without being derivative.

The sailor, Mogens, was one of the last roles of comedian Norm MacDonald before he passed away last year. He’s mostly known for his stand-up and SNL careers, as well as providing voice work such as Death from Family Guy, Norm the Genie from Fairly OddParents, and Pigeon from Mike Tyson Mysteries. REALLY funny off-color sense of humor and his sarcastic voice is always a warm welcome to hear. RIP Norm. ❤️

in real life, (historically) families from way far north (or any place where small settlements are spread out very far from each other) would have festival type events once or twice a year at an agreed meeting place, where they could then go and basically try to find a spouse from another settlement to come back with them, as far as i know I'm guessing thats what the ellingboes and krums do here

Jason Schwartzman is the son of Talia Shire (Adrian Balboa from,the Rocky series). Nephew to her brother (obviously) Francis Ford Coppola (director of The Godfather. And cousin to Nicholas Cage (who's real name is Nicholas Coppola - his father is brother of Francis and Talia). Jason is from Talia's 2nd marriage to producer Jack Schwartzman. Her first husband was acclaimed film music composer David Shire (All The President's Men, The Conversation, Taking of Pelham 123, Zodiac). Jason Schwartzman's half-brother on his father's side (Talia's 2nd husband) is John Schwartzman - who is a well respected cinematographer (The Rock, Armegeddon, Pearl Harbor, Jurassic World, Amazing Spider-Man) . Jason started his acting career with director Wes Anderson as the teenage star of Wes' second film "Rushmore". Jason is also the drummer of rock band Phantom Planet. There's more Coppolas too. Such as Francis' daughter is director Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation). His son Roman Coppola is also a director.

Before it became the holiday we know today, Christmas was just a bank holiday people sometimes used to get a day off. That changed largely due to A Christmas Carol.

The real irony is Christmas didn't become truly "magical" until Klaus disappeared.

I think this was the best origins story for Saint nick Klause. Krause was meant to be Saint nick he just needed a trusted mailman to get the message and joy.

I've noticed some similarities with this and Santa Claus is Comin' to Town: -Santa Claus is Comin' to Town is narrated by a postman and there is an implied relationship between Santa and postmen. -Both take place in miserable towns that are ran by douchebags. -Said miserable towns start to improve due to Santa's influence. -A teacher is a love interest.
