I have literally been trying to find this song for atleast 12 years....I heard it in the middle of the night during summer vacation my sophomore year in highschool and it’s been stuck with me ever since...I never knew the lyrics, just the melody of how the chorus went and nobody knew what it was....and hear it is...in the middle of the night 10+ years later, as I’m putting my one month old daughter to sleep in the middle of the night...I’m humming it to her and she hits the microphone on my phone by accident. google hears me humming the song and pulls it right up...funny how the universe works! I am content with life totally at this point!
for nine years.... nine years I've been searching for this song since I've last heard it. Couldn't remember a single lyric. Blah blah, I'm just glad I finally found it.
I still remember the exact moment I first listened to this song. It was 2007, I was 13 and watching MTV at my grandma's house, it was like 9:00pm and had to get back home minutes later. As I was there, alone having my daily dose of cable tv this song appeared. The first seconds of the melody blew my head off, I had never ever listened to something like that before and fell in love with it instantly. I downloaded it from Limewire along with their other singles from their first album. They were one of my favorite bands during that era and this exact song is one that defined that age for me. Seven years later I found Myths Of The Near Future in a record store and bought it without hesitating. Now I'm listening to that CD again with hifi headphones and it's like listening to it for the first time again, but much better and fun. Man, so many feelings right now. Thank you Klaxons for inventing this song.
We have the exact same story and are the exact same age, I did the math. Except it was 9:00 AM for me. They played this song on either Vh1, MtV, or some early popular music station because i remember me and my sisters watching the music video :) love your comment
Klaxons - Golden Skans Lyrics Light touched my hands in a dream of golden skans From now on, you can forget all future plans Night touched my hands with the turning, golden skans From the night to the light, all plans are golden in your hands Set sail from sense, bring all her young Set sail from where we once begun While we wait, while we wait A hall of records or numbers or spaces still undone Ruins or relics, disciples and the young A hall of records or numbers or spaces still undone Ruins or relics, disciples and the young Light touched my hands in a dream of golden skans From now on, you can forget all future plans Night touched my hands with the turning, golden skans From the night to the light, all plans are golden in your hands We sailed from sense, brought all our young We sailed from where we once begun While we wait, while we wait A hall of records or numbers or spaces still undone Ruins or relics, disciples and the young A hall of records or numbers or spaces still undone Ruins or relics, disciples and the young Light touched my hands in a dream of golden skans From now on, you can forget all future plans Night touched my hands with the turning, golden skans From the night to the light, all plans are golden in your hands Light touched my hands in a dream of golden skans From now on, you can forget all future plans Night touched my hands with the turning, golden skans From the night to the light, all plans are golden in your hands
You just had to say it....lol. What I'd give to be 22 again and at a hipster show in a 100 person venue. Things were interesting and there was a lot of DIY aspect to the scene. You can thank hipsters for pushing EDM into the spotlight.
I remember playing GT5 Prologue and thinking “this song is great, what is it?” And then trying to find it. Lo and behold, only 12 years later I find it.
Found Klaxons from a tony hawk game on ps3 when I was like 14..I’m 28 going back listening to some old playlists and it’s still just as good now as it was then. Good music doesn’t age.
OMG after all these years trying to find this song, I've finally found it! I remember watching this music video one night on mtv, and after that I couldn't remember the name. But I've remembered the sound of it this entire time. Oh gosh I'm so happy. haha! sorry guys.
SleepingUnderground7 funny thing is I also watched the music video on a night time in MTV. I didnt had my glasses at that time when the tittle name came up, but I ran to grab a pen and paper and wrote it quickly their band name. A few weeks passed by, and I went to Target and luckily found their album and bought it! 😀
Das antigas..... Saudades de quando não tinha resposabilidades, tinha minha inocência, paixões da escola, mtvhits, fudêncio, e não havia a guerra ideológica de todos se atacando. Bons tempos......
@@commissionergordan commercially, yeah, but they were honestly AMAZING records. The follow up to this album was incredible, plus the video for Twin Flames off their second album is glorious. Their 3rd album was more dance based where the second was more guitar focused. I still rotate all 3 from time to time as they still hold up.
The track is a dreamy and enigmatic song that explores the idea of sailing away from sense and into an unknown territory. The chorus suggests a transition from the night to the light, where all plans are golden, indicating the potential for positive change and growth. The repeated lines "Light touch my hands, in a dream of Golden Skans" and "Night touch my hands with the turning Golden Skans" create a sense of otherworldliness and transcendence, as if the song is describing a spiritual experience. The use of "Golden Skans" implies a mystical place or state of mind, represented by the color gold. The verses describe sailing away from where they once began, possibly hinting at leaving behind a mundane or unfulfilling existence and seeking something more meaningful. The line "While we wait" suggests patience and a willingness to wait for the right opportunity to arise, instead of rushing into the future without thought. The pre-chorus suggests the idea of uncovering hidden knowledge or secrets, represented by a "hall of records" or "ruins". The inclusion of "disciples and the young" hints at a spiritual or philosophical search for truth and understanding. Overall, "Golden Skans" is a song that celebrates the unknown and the potential for growth and change. It encourages the listener to set sail from the familiar and embrace the mystery of the unknown, with the promise of a golden future ahead.
Either chatgpt or one of the more pretentious indie fans 🤣 It’s a song about putting your hands up in the air in the lights at a rave (because the klaxons were lumped in with ‘nu-rave’ music.) From Wikipedia: In 1982 Claypaky presented the Astrodisco, which used a single lamp to project multiple rays of colored light across ceilings and dance floors. Five years later it launched Brilliant, a digitally controlled moving head and forerunner of a new generation of “intelligent” projectors. This was followed in 1988 by the programmable Golden Scan, a moving mirror projector and the first luminaire to implement stepper motor technology instead of servo motors.[5] Acclaimed by the specialised press as “the world’s most popular and best-selling projector”, the Golden Scan became a commonly used lighting effect at nightclubs and rock concerts during the late 1980s and the 1990s.[5] The London rock band Klaxons claimed the projector was the inspiration behind their light-themed, hit single Golden Skans. Christ…😂
I had just gotten home from boarding school for the summer. Back home in my small town. It was my first night home, first night of summer. I had drivers ed the next morning at 8am and I was laying in bed exhausted watching MTV. They still played music videos at the time. It was 2007 and this song song came on. I thought it was so awesome. It still is awesome. I remember I was so excited for my life. 15 years old, summertime, hot girls everywhere, I was young and I knew that. Summer of 2007. This song will always take me back to those days.
Lex Thistlethwaite haha! I was 15 too, when this came out! My home girl and I used to jam to this song back when Hollywood Undead, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes were all huge! It was indeed summer 2007 before social media was huge, only MySpace and we would go outside and sing this song out loud. Innocent times... I thought this nu rave era would never end!
I remember this. My male friend was really into them and the nu-rave culture at university. Nights out always in skinny jeans, imported Japanese crazy Nike Air Force 1 ankle boots, nose and lip piercing, emo fringe, neon face paints and the obligatory percussion banana. 😄
jesus christ it finally worked. You do not know how long i had this song in my hand and could never find it anywhere for 8 uears i heard it on my crushes myspace page. Finally remembered like the chorus beat and sang it into google search, and now we are here 😂 cant believe i finally found it
I love the trippy ethereal mood of this song. So glad to find it again. And then there's this video with these shaggy-haired, emo-ish boys being first drenched with water, then mysteriously tied up with ribbons, so they can fly up in the air and destroy fluorescent lamps. Well, what's not to love about that? This was the stuff of my wildest dreams when I first saw it; ludicrously silly but interestingly kinky as well. Congrats to the director for a truly whacky, yet sexy production.
pinkyandrexa This video is original, it draws attention because it is supposed to be the fabrication of a new genre combined with a creative sound, the way they formerly showed up (until a few years ago) really proved this weirdness and this insane style could be attractive. I believe they succeeded and I side with everyone defending and praising this band. I don't know if they broke up but I keep supporting their personal and interesting method endlessly and I'm not ashamed of pointing out I'm keen with all of the three albums issued.
Really reminds me of my teenage years in the uk. Perfect timing when this came out was 17 2007. I bet everyone feels the same in terms of importance of certain songs when they were growing up. Although I am sure that the late 00s had the best indie music. And this is a great example.
Found this song yesterday while being on a party with friends. It just popped up on my spotify queue. Damn, it was at least 10 years (or even more) from the last time I heard this song on an MTV. Oh the memories and childhood nostalgia this song gave me! Love this!
I remember when this first came out.....they had a really individual original sound (gone are the days of bands having that any more 😮)....then within the next couple of years you had waves and waves of new bands who were part of the "Indie Landfill" period (bands like Friendly Fires etc)...........that adopted alot of their sound....this band literally paved the way for a whole generation of music. 🎉
I swear, i heard this song once when i was a little kid and i went on a 13 year long search for this song. I was 5 when i first heard it. I finally found it a few months ago. This song reminds me of car rides through the city at night in the early 2010s.

Ugh miss this sound. Brings me back to college in the mid aughts. Simon frequented my coffee shop in the mid 2010s in NYC, serendipitously...really nice guy.
Takes me back to when I was 15, man time flies. Back when there was actually some decent music about. Not the crap we get force fed down our throats these days. I was saddened to hear Klaxons have split up :(
BelgianBass Sorry but music is crap now. Have you seen how overrated groups get worldwide success? What planet are you on? People come on here to appreciate decent music. Not have a go at other people's opinions.
This song was grabbed by Garnier about an advertisement but I had already known and praised this work because of my everlasting fondness over one of the most talented indie/alt bands. They convey an indescribable range of emotions whilst you get to the uppermost level that the song reaches. I mightn't stay without them even for one day, maybe I love them too much but I truly believe I'm addicted to their music and doesn't matter if I get continuously bashed for my weirdness and shortage of originality. You couldn't get them to hell but you could afford being cheered up and driven crazy by a masterpiece like this. Never leave them out!
I hummed the doo doo doo ah into google search and found the song last night...shit really works!! Used to hear this at Hollister Co when I was a teen and now I’m 30.
I'm glad to see that so much people was searching for this song, I heard it fort the first time in race video game and after a long research of the soundtracks of all the videogames I earned it was impossible to found it. THANK YOU ALEPSA!!!
And by the way I just found the videogame in which I heard it for the first time, it was Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, a game the was with my Ps3 when I bought it that I completely forgot I once played. It means that I was searching for this song for litteraly 11 years :o I remember myself at the college trying to find the lyrics of this song with my friends and they wouldn't what I was talking about.
@@VivonsNosReves2.0 Now that You mention Gran Turismo 5 Prologue I also remember hearing this song there on ps3. But yea, it has been a very long and lost time since I've heard it.
@@davisbite273 Yeah how crazy? I also spent time to search on a tv spot for Garnier because I knew it was in it.. and in 12 years it was impossible to found it too.. what a rage when I was whistling the melody to my family and no one knew HAAAAA :D
YES THANK YOU! hahaha this song came on and I knew all the "lyrics" except couldn`t figure out where i heard it!! Of course it was GT Prologue I spent hours playing that game! Thanks cheers
So I searched for this song for 11years....11 freaking years and then found it today-12th October 2021 with the help of Google search just by humming the eeeeeeeh ooooooh😃... Man I'm glad.
Beautiful in every sense of that word. I've remembered times long ago when I was on university. Memories are still strong and the feeling is the same as it was back then. It rocked than as it rocks now. Love you all! Stay strong and fell good!
Ive been looking for this song for 15 years. All i remembered was guys jumping in slow motion cutting things in half and “waaoohhh” in the background. Thought it was the most stupid shit ever but never forgot about it. Turned out to be a banger. Stumbled across it while listening to youtube premium today. Fucking finally.
This song makes me realize that I'm old as fuck...damn time flies..it was 2007 when this came out...I just always liked this song...so original and unorthodox at the same damn time...
i just graduated from uni when this came out back in '06. i remember all the radio stations in london playin it day in day out. the world was my oyster then..........*sigh*
I’m proud to say I was a super indie skinny jeans drum playing kid 13 years ago and I’d listen to this song everyday on my walk home from school. The drums crazy timing was what go me
Did not like this song when it was released, but now it brings back memories, takes me back to a point in time, it is strange how songs do that. Doctor Who logic suggests this is a fixed point in time, the history and existence of me is parallel to this song, so for that I am thankfull to the Klaxons, cheers guys ;-)
