Klay Thompson now plays with a more younger and hungrier Dallas Mavericks team (presently the Western Conference Champions), compared to the Aging Los Angeles Lakers team that made it to the NBA finals way back in year 2020. In addition, Klay Thompson will not have to deal with Lebron James. To also add to it, Klay Thompson will be coached by Jason Kidd (a more experienced Coach compared to Coach JJ Redick of the Los Angeles Lakers team) and will have more respect there at Dallas. To also add to it more, Klay Thompson will not have to pay all those kind of taxes like he was paying when he was playing for Golden State Warriors team there in San Francisco, California State, United States. Why do people keep bringing Draymond into this? Yes, Klay might be more likeable than Draymond, but who is more important when both are on the court at this stage of their careers? GSW disrespected Klay? Who paid him handsomely when he didn't play for 2.5 years (he already suffered the 1st injury when he got the contract extension)? Klay is not what he used to be and that's ok. To be honest, I attribute most of Klay's struggles last year to himself. Instead of letting the game come to him he started jacking up shots like he was Jordan Poole. He took a lot of horrible shots. Benching him was the right move. You could tell he was in his own head way too much. I can't imagine it being easy though when you're part of the splash brothers and you see Steph Curry actually improving his game (bulked up, worked on his weaknesses) and you are getting worse. And the difference when Draymond is on and off the floor is also very noticeable. I never saw Klay improve other skills, everything was based on his shooting and defense. Because of the injuries not only did his defense suffer, his ability to get separation for his shots did as well. Fair or not, he just hasn't had much of an impact recently. I believe Klay can still be the elite shooter he was if he gets his mind right. Hopefully that happens in Dallas. He deserves it. Do I think GSW treated him unfairly? Not at all.

The Warriors just keep making terrible moves. They gave up Klay Thompson for two second-round picks despite the Lakers offering D'Angelo Russell. They waived Chris Paul and lost him for nothing, even though the Bulls offered Zach LaVine for CP3 & Andrew Wiggins. To make matters worse, GS previously traded Jordan Poole to get Chris Paul, meaning they gave away Poole for absolutely nothing, effectively salary dumping a 25-year-old for a 39-year-old, who they then salary dumped onto waivers. So the Warriors’ final haul for Klay, CP3 and Poole was two second-round picks. But it gets worse. They also forced Wiggins to withdraw from his debut Olympics with Canada, seemingly to prevent injury and preserve his trade value. But when presented with an opportunity to trade him for LaVine, they declined. There’s also a clear conflict of interest there, with Steve Kerr serving as Team USA's coach and likely playing a role in holding Wiggins out of a dangerous Canadian team. Golden State also messed around with Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody’s playing time, leading to Kuminga publicly calling out Steve Kerr and then proceeding to play extremely well when he finally received more minutes. The Warriors were even making blunders as far back as drafting James Wiseman second overall in 2020, and then holding onto him for too long. For a team that was once infinitely better than the rest of the league, this is a stunning fall from grace.
