Klein 8-in-1 Stubby Bit Holding Screwdriver 32308: Is it just a quarter inch from perfection? 

I’ve always avoided the ones of these that take weird proprietary bits. I’m sure at some point I will want to put some exotic bit like a high security torx in it. But I only rarely need weird bits, so I should just get over it and accept weird bits :)

Non standard bit sizes are a deal breaker for me. Too bad. I liked that design! Excellent video as always!

VIM makes a half cut stubby bit set with just about every bit you could ever need that would fit into the bit carousel.

As an electrician, the first high quality tools I ever used and paid attention to were klein. Unfortunately it seems like their quality has gone down recently. I still love them and own a few now days because they still for the most part stay true to their American made heritage. They have one tool I'd like to see you do a review on. It's kliens reversible crescent/pipe wrench. I believe it's made by a company out of France, but it is amazing. I usually don't like crescent wrenches, but I really enjoy this one. It's solid, doesn't slip, feels good in the hand, and is versatile.

Klein is probably my favorite for screwdrivers in general but ya I agree with you all the way on the short bits being unnecessary.

For me, the problem was that when you extended it to its fullest length, it does not lock in place at that position. Also it's very difficult to remove those small bits from the storage caddy because there is not any room above them to grab with your fingers.

1st part of the video I was ready to drop everything and go get one. 2nd part I was like dang, how stupid can they be?

yup, I just don't agree with all the choices they made with the Klein. The PB Swiss is shorter, holds standard bits, and I don't have to use any extensions or other parts. I bought the PB Swiss, Wera, and Wiha. Very satisfied with all three. I might have included the Klein in my order if not for your video, so thank for saving me whatever the Klein costs. :D

I’m going to try this, I have a shorter T20 which is the only extra one I would need besides what comes with it. Yeah…. why Klein in the world did you decide on the shorter bits…. Guess the guy who designed that finger ratchet thing was owed a favor by someone! Hahaha

Didn’t know about the stubby bits. They’re a little more available now, and they’re useful in some situations, but they’re totally not necessary in this driver.

Those Klein screwdrivers feel really high quality, but they use proprietary bits on both the stubby and regular size bit holding screwdrivers. Deal breaker for me.

Proprietary bits kill this unfortunately. It‘s on the large side for a stubby anyway, they should have just made it to fit standard bits.

That's the only reason I didn't buy it and went with wiha instead. It's not even a good compliment to the full size version or the nut driver because of this. Why make the main adjustable shaft universal but not the bits?

I have one. When the carousel is pushed into the handle, it's IMPOSSIBLE to access. I need to use a knife edge to open it up. I love Klein tools, but this sucks balls.

Is it possible to purchase other bits for that particular stubby?

I wish I’d seen this video when I got mine. I love it dearly but I need torx and some other bits that aren’t in there and it’s infuriating I can’t store them. I love to but I’m going Wera here shortly for a more specifically tech type stubby driver.

It's a shame kline don't aim at us uk and euro techs more. I would buy that driver in a heartbeat if I could store some torxs in it. Same with some of the nutdrivers only in imperial sizes

I've been burned so much in the past by "proprietary" nonsense that I generally avoid it on principle.

I just bought one thinking I could swap the bits for the ones I wanted. Then as usual Klein comes in with their 💩 So I’m returning it

Mine has a very stiff bit stash I need needle nose to get them out.

The bits is what kills it. They shoulda doing a way to make it use normal bits

It needs to have storage for standard 25mm bits, mine went in the trash.
