Klein discontinued my favorite ratcheting screwdriver. The 32558 model that I’ve preferred for quite a few years is no longer offered. You can only imagine how distressing this was to me.
Fortunately during my searches, I was able to find a suitable replacement that has more standardized parts, some backwards compatibility to the discontinued Klein product, and at a significantly lower price point seemingly with no loss of quality.
The Lenox LXHT60902 ratcheting screwdriver is definitely a new favorite of mine. It uses 1” or 2” length single-sided 1/4” bits, and 2-3/8” double-sided bits. It has the common magnetic retention of the bits, and can even fit the 3-1/2” bits inside the handle if you’re willing to accept it not latching completely.
My favorite aspect of both of these tools, both Lenox and Klein, is that unlike most other ratcheting screwdrivers they function as nut drivers in 1/4”, 5/16”, and 3/8”. An often overlooked feature is they they also have a 3/8” Allen wrench.
While I do not own one, it appears Irwin has a nearly identical tool to the Lenox.
I’m not sure why Klein decided to discontinue what has been a favorite tool of mine, but in hindsight I think I’m glad they did. I think this new tool is actually even more versatile while offering the same high quality of construction and a lower price point.
