WDIV was known as WWJ-TV until 22 June 1978. The Evening News Association traded the station to the Washington Post Company, who changed the call letters (the video of the last WWJ sign off is on RU-vid).
Man Im digging the wdiv promos, especially this one!! Can u also find the early '79 station id's of 'We're 4' just before the Go 4 It id's?? (one I remember features the id in front of the Ren Cen)
Family Feud belonged to WXYZ during this time, in 1981 WDIV had the feud on Saturday evenings, then in 1983 WJBK (now Fox) had the Feud as well with Ray Combs verion in 1989.
Don't you mean 😏 the fall 🍁 of 1️⃣9️⃣8️⃣8️⃣, Nick? Because the 1️⃣9️⃣8️⃣8️⃣ nightly syndicated revival of FAMILY 👪 FEUD with the late Ray Combs as host premiered on the night 🌚 of September 1️⃣9️⃣ of that year on former CBS affiliate WJBK-TV 📺/Channel 2️⃣ in Detroit, airing 💨 nightly at 7️⃣:3️⃣0️⃣ p.m. Eastern time.
@@jamesmcclelland1414 Win, Lose or Draw with Bert Convy aired at 7:30. Family Feud did not add to WJBK’s schedule until January 3. I remember seeing the promos with “The Feud Is Back” in late December.
I have a question: I know that Thom Allen voiced Post-Newsweek's then-sisters: WPLG, WJXT, and WFSB ( now owned by Meredith). Did Thom Allen ever do voice over work for WDIV?
Omg, Three's a Crowd. Was that a daily or weekly show? Because somehow I'm thinking WDIV should've aired Family Feud with Richard Dawson instead. Who knows maybe they did.
I wonder who the weather and sports guys were; the weatherman looks like he could be related to a weathercaster who was at WTOP in Washington, and the sports reporter looks like an older and pudgier version of Sal Marchiano.
I did I use to sing it all the time in 7th grade sometimes I would have fellow classmates join in I can't believe I can get this serious trip down memory lane.
