Love that they're taking on this market. Klim is my favorite company but been waiting for them to arrive with something more like this. I like the delineations in their lineup. Eager to see them refine this, I wonder if we will see an air version like the rally air (but hopefully much better looking)? I love the way they put in versatility and visibility without sacrificing crash protection, technical advances, and style... although they could still take a few more hints from Dainese in that department. They could probably be delivering a little bit more on this suit for a total of 1,750 between the two pieces don't you think? What do you guys want to see changed on the Kodiak gear? I want something I can hop on a BMW or Ducati and go across town to eat or go on a tour in any weather... as well as something that's convenient to get in and out of without getting an aerostitch (or looks good enough to wear into some places). I like their map/diagrams of features on the ADV that they include for you guys, weird they didn't do it for this one showing the armor, pockets, hydration etc. I hope for V2 they really imagine what the motorcycle suit of the future would be like and try to better implement some of their visibility and technical features into this. I think the style will improve a bit with classier materials and layers. This seems like a pretty solid first product for street from them, but I expected a bit more. Is that chest armor level 2?

I don't expect them to make an 'Air' version honestly, and as far as improvements, it's hard to say. I think the suit is worth the price though. As for the chest armor, it isn't CE-rated, but it does still provide good protection. -DrewZilla

Ah, so it rides cool enough to not need an Air version? I guess the Rally is so bulky and they do such extreme stuff in like Dakar it's warranted. It gets pretty hot in Texas though! Is the chest protection good enough for what you'd need in a crash? As this stuff gets safer and safer, I wonder what point is good enough and not worth taking on more weight? It must perform really well for what it does... I'd happily pay the money for a do all 4 season all weather stylish safe suit.

Don't worry Spurge, it won't be long before you are not too small for the Xtra Large. I predict that by the 2020 edition of the Kodiak you'll be packing the plumpness. Check it out!

love, love, LOVE this jacket. I feels and looks great. I feel part of the bike when I wear it. (Now in the 100 degree weather, I am wearing a mesh jacket, but for 85 and below this works) One question: - How to wash it? I have a ton of dead bugs splattered on the jacket (no windshield on the Harley) It has leather, so I am thinking washing machine is a no go? (the leather is great btw, adds much style and class)

You can actually machine wash it, but please do so according to the care instructions on one of the tags inside the jacket. It should be inside on the right side torso seam. -DrewZilla

Would still go with the badlands

Looks & sounds like a great product but $1,000 is just way too pricey for most of us!

Glad that Klim is getting more into the touring and sport touring items. However, this seems like a pretty underwhelming product for the price point. Personally, I think I would wait for Ver 2 or 3 before investing in this.

Kind of funny how you're more apt to crash at high speeds on road than off, yet they don't incorporate the Superfabric or Armacor to this "onroad" oriented jacket which would give you better protection in a slide. I think they have the materials reversed on this vs the Badlands. I would like to see them make the revised version without the chest armor. I always hated it in my Badlands and took it out and sewed up the floppy left side pocket. I don't see how it's really useful on the road jacket. We're not getting roosted onroad or riding through tree branches or flipping over the handlebars at low speeds. Come on Klim, you "almost" have it. Until then, I'll continue to ride in my boxy Apex jacket.

Nice jacket but seems like the bubble butt moved up to create bubble shoulders this time.

Looks good but will it be too cool in winter?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
No, it stays remarkably warm in cold weather, and you can wear a thermal mid-layer underneath for additional warmth. -DrewZilla

How do these compare to the Dainese gran turismo, based on your reviews both are for street use and both gtx.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 4 года назад
Both are two of the most technical street-focused all-weather touring jackets. Both offer similar impact protection and abrasion resistance, but the Dainese jacket is a bit lighter and slightly more tailored (though the Kodiak is still slimmer than other Klim jackets). The Dainese also includes a removable thermal liner, whereas the Kodiak is just a technical shell (no liners). -DrewZilla

Can he fit a layer under this size for colder weather?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 4 года назад
Yes, a mid-layer still fits, but it's snug. -DrewZilla

Why does klim and other manufacturers limit thier products to one fit style? I have a 2016 badlands the Kodiak seems like a better fit for myself but with a European cut it would never fit me.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
You might like the fit of the "D" sizing for the Kodiak, which is slightly roomier through the stomach with 3/4" shorter sleeves. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-kodiak-jacket

The stomach wasn't the problem it's sleeve diameter and shoulder width was.

Great jacket but very poor collar design. Collar material is uncomfortable and you need a big neck to get a snug fit, otherwise expect rain coming in through there. Its like the entire jacket is meant to be slim fitting and collar and made to fit 2 sizes up...Disappointing for the price.

Well then maybe this article is inaccurate? Made it sound like he was not going to be involved in day to day operations and moving to BOD maybe? www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/anthony-bucci-revzilla-ceo/

As one of the three co-founders, Anthony has worn many hats (simultaneously) over the years. He's really just taking off the CEO hat while keeping the others on so to speak. Additionally, he's already been on the board, so that's not really a new thing either. Hope this clears it up a bit. -DrewZilla

Brian looks like he can't move with how tight that is on him
@RevZilla

It actually isn't that tight. Equivalent jackets from Dainese, REV'IT!, and Alpinestar have an even slimmer fit, and he wears those just fine as well. -DrewZilla

It's brand new, so the zippers are a bit stiff. They get easier to operate over time. -DrewZilla
