I'm sorry these comments crack me up. Yes the KLR is heavy. Yes it's a gutless horse. But it'll go through anything. The only issues I've ever had is speed in thick gravel or sand, it digs way to hard in the front, I've seen guys with way more talent than me go down,, and the new one is 30 instead I'd 28 degrees lol.. People are too scared to stand and throw the bike around. So many hard brake riders not enough holding mostly steady gas and manipulated clutch. I can ride my klr backwards down a steep incline using the gas and clutch. It's a tractor. If you don't understand, just be careful. Just remember. SEND IT WHEN NEEDED. all this legs out, not standing, brake digging the front tire riding is what makes novices think the KLR sucks. If you suck on a KLR you suck on anything (as far as technical enduro or ADV) I've been at the top of black bear, Glacier park, in the middle of nowhere Utah. Control the physics of this bike and it will just about do anything. Sure, I dont want to spend all day popping trees and boulders on it either. That's what the 300 is for.

Right on the money. Dirt riding is about 85% rider skills and 15% bike. If you rode long enough with good riders, you start to understand this...

My favorite riding mode on the KLR - tractor mode! Push the mode selector on the left with your foot all the way down.

Well done, that looks like an interesting place to ride. It probably changes dramatically with the seasons. I need to get out and find a place like that.

I had a dr200 and would ride with a 650 klr in nm it was fun times on trail but I could never carry or match him crawling up hills

It’s dose a decent job on average off trail and on highways but isn’t a single track machine just too darn heavy

A lightweight enduro bike with motocross tires is all you need in this kind of terrain

Only gone down once! Tried to ride it through a snow drift and.hit some ice. Any way it's just to damn heavy for any serious off roading.

Just bought 2016 KLR 650 in digital camo in January. Can’t wait for spring! Is that other bike. Super Sherpa? Cuz I have one I bought brand new in 2009. 18K miles on it. Still runs great. But this 650 is great on the road.

I bought on new in June 2019. It’s got 14k on it now. I ride the living piss out of it on the desert trails around Henderson Nevada. The klr is a absolute tank, it just brushes off all the abuse I throw at it.

Nice! I agree, you can't hurt the klr.

Wow that's a lot of riding! I'm guessing in Henderson you aren't doing much riding from June - October because of the heat. So you are cramming a lot of riding into 8-9 months?

@@edfeten4724 nah, I ride year round. Just kinda get used to the heat and I always bring water with me.

is it easy to liftup klr650 bike when you drop it alone? Is this bike ok for novice who wants to drive offroad alone?
@TwinSportAdventures
@TwinSportAdventures 3 года назад
If you drop it on a hill or uneven ground it can be pretty tough to pick up. I wouldn't say it's the best for a novice alone unless you stick to easy trails.

What sprockets are being used here? My 05 has a 16t and I’m looking for better offroad
@TwinSportAdventures
@TwinSportAdventures 2 года назад
It has the factory sized sprockets here (15t front). It had a 16 tooth when I bought it and it was too high in first gear for off road. The 15 tooth doesn't hurt the road performance in my opinion unless maybe you're riding a lot on the freeway.
