Thanks for uploading these old videos! Did you ever try gearing the bike higher for riding on highways? I'm trying to figure out if the BB351 kit would suit my needs. I'd need to be able to cruise at higher speeds comfortably while having at least the offroad capabilities of a stock KLX250.
I switched the front sprocket from stock (I think 14 tooth) to a 13 for better off-road gearing. Still cruised highway fine in my opinion (60mph good, 50 perfect, 70 ok). In a later episode you'll see my highway set up with 14 tooth plus the pirelli mt43 rear tire which adds to top end speed being a larger tire. Even added a wind screen for comfort on 3 hours of slab 🤘
@@FullFaceAndy Thanks for replying! On my stock KLX (stock gearing 14/42) after 50 mph comfort starts decreasing pretty quickly. I do have a 120/80/18 rear tyre which apparently eats bit of the top speed. But I'm still hopeful that with proper gearing and the big bore this bike could be just perfect for my needs. Can't wait for your next vid, keep up the great work!
@@ThePopmas yes! You can go heavy on the gearing and the big bore will eat it right up. Even with my gearing I remember having to downshift to pass or go up big hills at speed while 250, after 351 it pulls in 6th surprising well
@@FullFaceAndy I'm glad to hear that! I hope I'll be able to start this project next year. And maybe one day I'll go around the world with my trusty KLX.
