I used to live here in Moon, and this Big K was so over priced. I only shopped here before Walmart opened. Once the Walmart opened in Moon, I only went into Kmart to see when they would be closing. You could see that the end was coming since they had a majority of their lights turned off...not to mention it smelled musty in there.
When I lived in Florida the Kmart that was local had those "Huge Inventory Blowout!" Signs a month or so before the "Store Closing" signs went up... its sad. I'm hoping that my now local Kmart, the former Super K in Queensbury NY, is not on the next list of closures... I honestly do 95% of my shopping there, regardless of Walmart and Target being much much closer. I dunno I just always seem to have the best luck for clothes and shoes at Kmart compared to other stores.
That was the same here in Lubbock when Kmart was closing in Dec 2016, closing sale started in October I think it was which had Christmas trees, some Halloween & Thanksgiving. Had a lot of Christmas stuff.
Wallie, from what I understand the stores do this on their own to try to reap some of the profits, and more often than not, it's prior to the liquidators coming in and buying up all the assets of the store. The liquidation company then posts the store closing signs and any money from customer purchases for merchandise or fixtures from this point forward belongs to the liquidation company.
The Kmart I work at is also currently just 10-30% off. Lots of times the sales tax just makes it the marked price anyway, so I've had so many customers complain to me that it wasn't marked down properly but it was. Like the Kmart in this video we also got a ton of Christmas trees and our Halloween stuff is 70% off. I feel like we sell a ton of Halloween stuff a day, yet every time I go out on the floor to straighten/do returns it feels like we have more than when we started. lol. Our electronics department is pretty much non-existent now. We still got quite a bit of stuff in our garden center, but just about all the decorative stuff is gone, and all the chairs are gone. We just got a few tables, the spray stuff and soil and hoses and that's about it. I heard that they were closing the garden checkout in our store by the end of next week.
raidpirate 52 i work at a kmart also our store is a krazy packed with customers. there has been many days that we have all checkouts open. and strays are piling up fast
Broke a mirror, 7 years bad luck! I bet in two weeks it might look like that one that closed while you were in it. Or that will be right after Christmas. I suspect they're moving stuff from closing store to closing store as well.
@wallyB26 lol that restroom looks as if it's never been updated! There was a Kmart in Traverse city Michigan That updated their restrooms several times and finally the latest update was a full, remodel of the restrooms And they always liked beautiful until shoplifters got into them! The Kmart in Traverse city Michigan Was one of 2 that recently closed one on the very least side of Traverse city and the other Kmart More centrally located in the city of Traverse city Michigan first one closed end of March 2017 And the 2nd one k town closed beginning of Sept. 2017 too bad y'all don't have time to visit all the closing stores! Great videos!
My friend bought a couple of pizza pillows and a big pizza blanket for his twin daughters. Their baby announcement was 2 slices of pizza and 2 bagel bites with the girls' names. The parents LOVE pizza. I'm shocked neither baby is named Pizza 😂
Just wait till it gets to 70 percent off, then you get all the hoarders in buying up vitamins, lol.... the kmart here in Richfield closed last spring, it's the same liquidation company nationwide that does all these kmart and other store closings, it's part of thier procedure and protocol to start little discount, then build up to the bigger discount according to thier time line they have to follow. What ever does not get sold after its all that's said and done, gets shipped to another closing kmart till its gone. I had the opportunity to talk to one of the liquidation people when the one here closed. Kinda sad really. PS - When this one closed, I scored big on shoes, and my current Samsung tablet, all bought with my leftover kmart rewards points, I didn't even spend a dime!
Me, watching this video after having seen basically every video for the past 2 months: don't worry about that Music and Video sign. It'll be yours soon...
If there's no store closing signs, then this could just be a regular blow out sale. The idea is to trick the customer into thinking they're getting close out prices. All the Kmarts in my area did this exact thing last month with the same signs. Now they're doing something similar with Holiday Blowouts. The Kmart here in N Central Florida is top in the nation, thankfully. Always busy. Note: if the Kmart is in a state where there has to be a 30 day notice to close, then these sales can be used to gauge customer interest in the store.. And if it's not enough, the company can bypass the 30 days and go straight to closing. That's why I bet so many Kmarts are doing these types of sales with hand written signs. I love Kmarts. So sad to see they are struggling. They should never have bought Sears, and instead should have used that money to revamp and restrategize.
The store is closing. Last day is January 28. I'm friends with one of the managers and he told me in Pennsylvania stores are not allowed to have actual store closing signs until there are 60 days left until it shuts it's doors. So expect to see the signs in the next update.
@wallyB26 watch those liquidation prices, the liquidators raise prices first then reduce them to their specified Prices and Kmart or Sears holdings has no authority while in liquidation!
Wondering Wallie when this one closes just how many are left?If any?in the Burg🐧area now?Didn't see any associates in whole vlog must be skeleton💀staffing since @ last count Corp.is down to it's last 60 million in cash.💸Day☀☔ could not be any danker here will be dark B4 5.So I'm looking through Holiday🎄Montgomery Ward thinner catalog📰sent to me in mail despite not having a Wards store in 30+ years around here😶Frankly Wallie I didn't even know Wards still existed??If even only online nowadays.💻
Tammy Goulet Yeah, I'm friends with one the managers and he said the last day for this store is January 28. Reason there are no signs up that say "Store Closing Sale" is because in Pennsylvania stores aren't allowed to have those signs up until there are 60 days left til the closing date. So expect to see them up in my next update.
