KMFDM - AIRHEAD (Official Music Video) 

It's weird but awesome to hear a 90's classic being released in 2024.

Funny how everything comes full circle. I learned of KMFDM way back in those early days of MTV, when I would record and send these same featured videos (I remember RATT specifically) to friends at Air Force Bases in Germany. They would either bring or send back audio tapes with hours of German music. And yeah - I've been with them allllll these years. There's been songs that define me, rebuilt me, and are now making me rise from the ashes of myself yet again. This album track and album couldn't have come at a more perfect time. The last time I had to rebuild was around the release of Tohuvabohu. 40 freakin years, my friends. I only wish I was able to, in this new form, to come out to see them.... but the immune system said FU the first time I took my mask off in a doctor's office last week. Not sure I'll be able to return to live shows, but my faith remains in science, especially since I'm still here.

Great song - sounds very 90s alternative. #KMFDM have always excelled at diversity in their music. Definitely not a one trick pony.

That must be one of my favorite KMFDM songs. I really dig the Garbage feeling of it. It's uncanny how Lucia sometimes sounds like Shirley Manson.

I was 14 in 1990 when I started listening to KMFDM. Never stopped since.

1:05 This has to be a reference to Drill! Drill was Lucia's first band. They released one single and album which flopped and they broke up afterwards. She was on a downward spiral after they broke up and was suicidal when she got a call from Sascha asking if she would be interested in trying out for his new MDFMK project. Sascha had heard her perform with Drill a while back and was impressed by her unique vocal style and he reached out. At first she was totally deflated and openly saying she didn't think she could do it, but he was patient with her, told her that he believed in her. Her first session was intense and she ended up blowing out the microphone causing it to catch on fire, they were all deeply impressed and since then she's been with KMFDM! With that one phone call he saved Lucia, and in turn Lucia saved KMFDM. This whole album feels like it's going to be about nostalgia and letting go of your past pain, and that's pretty unique! I don't think KMFDM has made an album with such a tender theme before!

Love to see KMFDM feeling bold enough to not only do a great slower tune like this, but highlight it as a single. Even as a fan of the heavier stuff, I love to see it. KMFDM’s slower work is under-appreciated.

I discovered KMFDM through friends in high school back in the mid-90s and have been a fan ever since. It's awesome to see them still going strong in 2024.

As much as I miss the days of NIHIL, ANGST, NAIVE I’m happy they are around still making music. The NIHIL days were something. I still have my IN YOUR FACE tour t shirts. I don’t know if it was actual touring or they would just pop up in NYC, but we saw them several times in a 2 year span. Tough call, but the shows at Limelight and Roseland were the best. One of the Roseland shows a cop attending off duty lost his gun and we were kicking it around. We didn’t know what it was at the time all we knew is that something on the floor was making it annoying to stand lol.

Absolutely great song! Takes me down memory lane for sure. Been a long time fan since the NIHIL album. Always a pleasure listening to such a great band and the progression they go throughout the years.

I’m definitely a younger KMFDM fan, I am 22 and I discovered WWIII in the soundtrack of Saints Row: The Third. I was around 10 at the time and never heard anything that wild, I was hooked ever since. I have so much respect for the bands passion, always touring and releasing new music. KMFDM is ETERNAL!

Looking at this just makes you realize how dead the world is now. We like to think we're living in such "advanced" times..but the world is nothing more than a comatose patient being kept alive with wires and tubes and whatever else can be stuck into a natural or artificial bodily orifice. Other than that, the song is top notch. Feel like it'll be an immediate repeat once I get the album going the first time.

One of my favorite songs by KMFDM is Move On from Angst. Has been for over a decade. Another favorite is Help Us, Save Us, Take Us Away. Nice to see KMFDM try something slower again, always believed you guys did slower songs well.

It's certainly different, in a good way 🙂. In terms of tone, it reminds me of 'Today' and 'Dogma'. That kind of parallel between being calm on the surface with something uneasy/unsettling going on underneath.
