Dr Tobias...thank you for giving of your time to help people with disabilities. You are a good Samaritan and you have a big heart. Many blessings to you and yours.
Hi Hector. Thank you for watching and for showing your appreciation for the work on this channel. I am happy to do it. All the positive vibes you guys send my way is just an added bonus 😊🙏
I really enjoy your videos I sent it to my physical therapist and she says that she loves this lady she really knows her stuff cuz I deal with MS and a lot of videos you have that really help with MS because the exercises are simple
Dr. Tara, I have had MS for over 28 years and when I am tired and squat down to pick up something off the floor...sometimes my knees cave in or kiss! The exercises you show is in this video are great and they make sense, so thank you! I also have an overpronated foot...and I am really hoping you will do a video on overpronation like you did for supination!! So as my foot overpronates....my foot also rotates out...and my knee collapse inwards if I'm tired. Then as I try and walk with the overpronation...and my toes heading out..as in a duck walk...I cannot push off the front of my foot....and this makes my leg stiffen as in a peg leg. Definitely looking forward to your membership program and hoping you will cover the overpronation as I cannot find a video in this RU-vid library! Thanks for all you do for us!! Janet
Thank you for sharing these exercises! I’m in my 30s and I’ve found that my legs have been rotating inwards which is strange, but it definitely feels like the muscles surrounding are weak and I need to strengthen them. I think I do have weak ankles that also need strengthening, but my knees are also coming together and I need to do more of those hip, glutes and leg exercises.
Dr thanks million for both briefing why it happens . Top of it you are explaining the exercise . Will add the exercise in my routine dr . You are a gem of a person who is humble caring for each and every one. An angel mam❤❤❤
I have spastic CP from birth and definitely this #kissingknees happens on both legs, but especially the right leg and in full squat or in the prep position to initially lift weights from the ground when beginning a set of deadlifts. I am glad to see that the band work sitting on the chair is what you recommend, we do that every session. My trainer and I have been working on squats, deadlifts and banded sitting clamshells and banded standing side leg lifts and banded squats to get the hip abductors and glutes firing up. I have noticed improvement over the last few months (since November 2020) and my legs have definitely become stronger and straighter over time. Rewiring this 40+ year old brain!
I'm surprised you don't see knee valgus very much. Where I live I see it quite often especially in women. Good exercises to strengthen the hips. You might consider exercises to strengthen the lower leg which is probably weak in the peroneal and tib posterior. Knee valgus can have a tibial torsion and flat feet which enables the alignment issue.
I’m struggling with this… my left knee is pronated and my PT through my Medicare is limited…I saw your video and will try this out… thank you for the information… blessings
Dr Tara thank you so much for both explaining and showing how to go about the exercise. In my case my left leg ( knee just goes in ) , next i need to learn how to lie down on my back. Need help for the same. Please guide me Angel
Thank you for reading and answering my question from the comments in the previous videos #kissingknees . My right arm and hand have become flaccid over time 😰 and not sure why though
Thanks for the advice on exercises. I have knock knees. Yes both of my knees are bad. When l walk it looks like the left knee is broken. I also have a lot of pain associated with them.
Thank you so much I needed to see this. Only my right leg is turning in I also have a drop foot on this side. I had two spine surgeries that only affected my right side.
@@rehabhqofficial have u really never heard of knock knees? (also btw if u look up girl body shapes in anime for example, they mostly have their legs turned inward). also knock knees are common in women thats why they usually have more inner thigh fat, its to balance the leg out. u also develop those type of legs if u make a "w" shape with ur legs when u sit on the floor during childhood (sitting on ur knees with the inner side of feet on the floor and ur toes pointing outward)
Good day dr Tara , i am facing the problem you have briefed. Thank you so much for both explaining and showing the excersizes which have to be done . My left leg just goes straight, shape changed as well. I am advised to wear braces for my left leg . please suggest,/. guide me what kind of braces should I buy and wear. Awaiting reply.. Thank you so much .
Good day Dr Tobias, thank you so much for both explaining and showing how to go about the exercise. I am advised to wear braces on my left knee . Please suggest what kind of braces . Once replied I can buy one . Thank you so much.
Great video, thank you for all your help and concern. Love the look of the bands and being almost latex free exercise bands, I'm going to order them. Do you have any that are 100% latex free that you would recommend.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to learn about bow legs correction try Lenas Bow Remedy (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my work buddy got excellent success with it.
Kissing knees thank u so very much u are a true blessing best wishes!! Thanks for the hope and the techniques I can aready tell the difference in strength and feel.
Hi I have been following your exercises and they have been helpful so far. Please give me a link or an exercise for my leg. My stroke left my left side very affected. I have a lot of spacicity. I can walk but my left knee pops backwards that makes the limp worse. My leg is more outward than straight. Thank you. Gerda
⭐⭐💛💛 Dear Dr. Tara, yes I have exactly this. The nerves for my left abductor still do not react after 28 months into the stroke. My routine is the resistance band around the knees and pulling the knee out against the resistance. As I overcame so many of my stroke problems through constant training, I am convinced that this will pay out and sooner or later I will get the control back. Lots of greetings from Germany 💛💛⭐⭐
Thank you for the info..I have huge varicose veins and I cannot bend my knee property..meaning I can't even sit on my feet or bring them right up in the foetus position..it is extremely painful..the right foot is bending like a "C" and the foot and knee seem to be turning inwards. Any advice would be appreciated
Gal with MS here. Yes, definitely have this on my weak left leg. The knee collapses inward and nothing I do seems to help (theraband exercises, hip adduction exercises, clamshells with resistance, side walking with bands, etc.)
Good stuff but wonder if there is another option coming from the feet and particularly the effected side. As the foot became more relaxed it basically collapsed. I struggled with my knee walking barefoot. Bit wearing shoes that slightly angle forward and wearing arch support makes a big difference
Hello doctor I m 3.4 yrs of post stroke due to bleed. My leg is doing much better but my hand is stiif and cannot move my figers as my fingers are flexed bt I feel heaviness in hand .. please suggest some exercises for fixing m affected left hand
Hi, I have right sided hemiplegia and am 24 years old. I am finding on condition is starting to changing and my leg is starting to turn in. Could I get some advice please? How times a week should you be doing specific exercises? And can my worsen condition improve or can it in some cases be too late?
Hey dr. Tobias, question: when do we know that you have reached the extent of recovery you're going to get and go on maintenance HEP. I have recovered 80% of my gait, and almost no finger control. I need guidance in this.btw, I'm doing almost all these exercises in some shape or form, six years past my stroke.
This is an excellent question and a conversation I have with many of my patients. It depends how important it is to have "quality movement" and what it is worth to you. Once you understand the risks associated with "giving up" on retraining normal movement patterns (ie: joint contractures, arthritic changes due to assymetries, reinforcing poor movement quality and thus making it permanent). Some people say to me "I am ok with all of that because I want to get back to spending that time with my family and/or "strengthening workouts". If that is you, and you are ok with the consequences, that is your decision. It is truly an individual decision.
@@rehabhqofficial thanks for the reply. Since I had stroke six years ago, progress is very slow and discouraging at times. Theres no change on day to day base. Even month to month is not easily measurable. You can understand my frustrations and I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to improve at all. I know it's not the stage I'd like to be in, but I hate to keep doing it if I'm not improving much. Thanks again.
Yes it's true I was doing this exercise last year. I was starting to walk normal but when I stoped the exercises my knocked knees started to show and worsen. I'm doing this exercises again before they become permanent
I am kicking myself after reading several of these comments that I did not preface this video with the fact that I was making this video in response to people who have said they have this issue as a result of damage to their neurologic system. Of course there are several structural issues that can also contribute to this. I hope that answers your question.
Yes, then generally speaking, if the knee turns inward and the foot turns outward, it is likely that this is due to weak hip external rotators (all the exercises in this video :)
Hi Karin!! Thank you for sharing. This is confirming my theory that this is much more common with MS. Again, thank you for sharing and I hope it was helpful. Please check out playlist on "spasticity". You will find more helpful videos for what you are describing.
yes, foot pronation is the result of knee valgus, however, in my experience for patients I see in person, they will tell me "my leg is rotated inward" when it is really a supinated foot (due to SEVERE spasticity) that gives the appearance of the leg is rotating inward
please keep in mind, I have spent 20 years talking to patients who have suffered a stroke. So when I speak in these videos I am getting inside the minds of my stroke patients and trying to communicate a thought or idea based on what they may be thinking.
Just wanted to ask I have ankle spasticity but my calf muscles are very stiff while walking and it’s making me unbalanced and I asked so many doctors that hot or cold weather have effects on spasticity? No one answered , should I use hot or cold water also which environment is better hot or cold ?
interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out knock knee correction try Lenas Bow Remedy (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my colleague got cool results with it.
I have a similar problem BUT, it's NOT on my affected(left) side. My right knee bows in a little but I figured it was because I've been relying on it more since my stroke!
