KNICKER KNOCK BOX XMAS SPECIAL 

As someone born in the mid 1960s, I totally get the references and the feel of the programme. And yet there is something truly terrifying about it.

American child of the 80’s here….while I understand this is aimed at emulating the feel of 70’s mid day British tv, it’s amazing how similar this feels to many of the independently produced mid-day PBS programs I’d see if I stayed home from school….they needed to fill time so usually played old cheap educational shows from the 70’s that are all but forgotten except a distant primordial memory of brown and orange sets and clothes.

Quentin’s’ 70’s theme / slightly Victorian mix aesthetic is a thing of disturbed wonder. Have a happy new year you mad men.

I dont now why but i love that character with leather brown jacket and pink turtle neck. That face, eyes and facial expressions, love it. 😂😂

The 1970s Captain Kangaroo template combined with acid and the elimination of logic and purpose. I can’t stop watching.

I had no idea there were people still doing imaginative, surrealist, experimental comedy (for lack of a better word) like this. This gives me hope for humankind. lol And the look of these pieces is so on-point to the early 70's programs they're drawing from, it's just amazing. It takes the nightmarish, video-age world of Tim & Eric about 100 steps further into sheer, non-verbal bliss.

Jago looks like he's living a life of quiet desperation. I wonder if there's something stronger in that bottle of Ribena🤔

I feel deeply disturbed and comforted at the same time. I would by happy if I could disappear into this world, never to return, fading into the static after the end credits, until next episode which never comes.

This is pure nostalgia for me. I love this late 70's, early 80's....mid 80's School TV vibe that you've managed to re-create....with "extras", disturbing...just like my childhood!

This is one of the very few times that youtube has recommended something to me that's actually worth watching. It's a Christmas miracle!

Very clever , very accurate . Growing up in the 1970s I remember having nightmares about some of the characters on children’s TV . Remember “ Rory the lion “ on Animal Kwackers ? Enormous blue head 🤣 Enjoyed this ….. they must have pissed themselves making it ! Terrifying at the end 🤣👍

Absolutely amazing, I really enjoyed that. Video was suggested to me by YT and I had no clue of it's contents, so I was coming into this totally blind. Felt like being a child of the 70's again, but being trapped in a shoe-box, buried under a pile of old mattresses (so missing the following decades), then being found, released and made the controller of the CBBC channel. Well done and thank you to all involved, this really is utterly fantastic.

Been watching this at Christmas for coming on 50 years now, part of family tradition in the Skrimpings household. Playing 'What rhymes with Lantern?' around the Christmas coal is one of my earliest and fondest Christmas memories, they don't make shows like this anymore.

A few smiles, even broad grins, in this one, but the overall effect is somewhat melancholy, reminding us all of the fleeting and frail nature of all life's precious moments. In fact I fear that watching this Christmas special has turned me into a chronic depressive and lachrymose alcoholic, but that may just be a passing fancy.

That woolly mammoth cleaner in a tabard sounds _suspiciously_ like Uncle Barrington.

Crikey, talk about a blast from the past..school glue, and loads of handmade Xmas decorations from school to take home , the times.

My gran used to make us kids watch this every Christmas. Even though we cried because it was in the room with toys and dolls we “mustn’t stare at for too long”. We could hear the grownups drinking port and laughing in the good room.

I found this channel on Christmas morning and what a wonderful discovery it was.

Its funny to think there were only ever 23487 episodes of this ever made - seems like so many more for some reason! Probably becasuse the series has been repeated so many times over the years.

Lord this brings back some memories! How this wasn’t wiped is a miracle. Shame about what eventually happened to Mantern. I do appreciate it was a different time, and it was almost expected if you were on TV that you had more exotic lifestyles than us at home. Still, shouldn’t do that kind of thing with a Womble.
