@@DollarBoiEntall u have to do is look up his games from him beating nba all stars in college to him dropping 63 on bird smh he is a 3x steals leader, dpoy winner, and 9x 1st team all defense while leading the league in scoring lol there’s a reason the WORLD calls mj the goat and no one else smh
Jordan use to be on the other team. I would remember my teams would be up like 17 points going into the 4th thinking Jordan is about to shut us down and go off on us
@@DollarBoiEntMaybe try researching your subject before you try to get views off his name? Just a thought. You could easily have looked up Jordan as a defender and got thousands of results but you opted for the easy way out.
He was the best offensive player and best defensive player in the league. Check out Jordan "One of the best defenders ever "... You will see then why he is the Goat... and he never missed games..
I'm actually getting tired of having this argument with goofy people. At this point whoever that chooses the guy that throws all his teammates under the bus, I'm just gone assume they not a good friend and stay the hell away from that person.
Only player to have 10 scoring titles ands won the mvp fmvp scoring title 1st team all defense and the chip in the same season and did it 4x lebron ain’t no goat
I was born in 1980. I saw MJ, Magic, Bird, Kobe, Lebron and Kareem in his late yrs. No doubt in my mind Jordan is the GOAT. You just had to see it for yourself, the eyes don't lie. Great Vid bro.
MJ was the best defensive guard in NBA history. He won the scoring title, MVP, and DPOTY all in the season. Let alone 9 first team All defensive player. He literally worked all his weaknesses away. MJ was double-teamed and often triple-teamed as well, as a matter of fact while your suggesting teams double team MJ he's beating a triple team.
Teams did double and triple him..MJ attacks the double team before they get established. Thing is people say Lebron is this physical freak but he’s nowhere as quick as MJ..MJ is NFL wide receiver fast/quick..he’s also said to be just as strong as Lebron and he’s 6’6” with a 48” vertical and can jump off one or two feet in full stride..Lebron is a one foot jumper. It ain’t close my guy
@@tomhubbard6266 MJ ride the ass in practice etc and they became a better team had nothing to do with him starting to pass…he averaged 8 assist in 1988
Mixtape is not all over the place it's his time coming in. Season to season championships 3 peats, retire and "im back". His skill level got better as he went along, Dunking first 2 years. Then developed a total package. GOAT!
Dude was not paying attention in his own reaction video SMH! He asked “why didn’t they just double team?” …..The highlights show the many times he was double teamed and even show the times he had 3, 4, and even 5 defenders on MJ at one time…..So I don’t know what dude is talking about SMH ……LeBron could neva
In the 90s you were not allowed to double a player without the ball. Doing so would result in a technical free throw. Iso players like Jordan, who could catch and shoot or shoot off of one dribble could thrive before the double or react to the double. The downside was that in the 90s a defender could hand check and steer you in a direction in the 90s and there was no three second rule. This meant defenders could steer you with a forearm on your hip and bigs could camp out in the paint as long as their offensive man was close by. Understanding history will give context to plays from each era.
@@mancycle1 Along with this; the Bulls ran the Triangle offense, which allowed Jordan to play off of the ball making a double team more difficult. He often would be doubled upon catching the ball, but with his quick first step and ability to score by taking just one or two dribbles, it was very difficult for a double or triple team to work. Also, even though the team was full of role players, they were a well-oiled machine, which ran flawlessly, so you could not sleep on anyone who played because they could score effectively if you doubled or tripled him, which is why he averaged over 6 assists while being the most dominant scorer in the league.
Nobody does it better than Mike. He was the best offensive player and defensive player, rolled into one package. He had the best fundamentals, moves galore, was strong/tough and was cat quick. People who are trying to compare LBJ against Mike don't what they're talking about. The eye test alone is enough to call Mike the GOAT, not even talking about everything he accomplished during his 13(full) seasons.
After watching those early highlights of MJ, as insane as they are, people need to realize that only 40% of Jordans games in the 80's have any footage available at all. Think about what we didn't see.
Jordan was 6'6 dunking on 7 foot legit defensive minded centers and power forwards. The league now is full of a bunch of guards and small forwards (even the tallest players are small forward minded) who are too far away from the basket and too busy looking for their next 3 to even remember to play defense.
Yes I saw one RU-vidr yelling for these players to get out of the way, watching this mixtape. Because that's the thinking these days can't get a flagrant foul or. Get posterized for the world to see. Back then you were literally risking injury. Because they were allowed to give you a hard foul and put you on the ground
For us that watched MJ live...put his 3 peat and all his championships a side...the way he played the game was way different and it was beautiful to watch...and Still I can't find someone like him even till this day NBA...I wish these youngstahs saw him playin...it'll be different
Nobody could guard mj it’s why the pistons turned to flagrant fouling consistently…the hard fouls on mj started when mj played for the USA team against the nba all stars with isiah
Bro u are hilarious in a good way. I'm pretty sure Hall of Fame coaches like Chuck Daley and Pat Riley called for double teams and traps. It didn't matter. We all just saw him dunk on 2 and 3 at a time or hit that fade mid range. The Pistons was damn near playing football against him and he figured that out too.
If his father had not been murdered and he had to leave the game because of his profound grief. The owner of the White Sox, also owns the Bulls and he hired him to play baseball and paid him the same salary. The Rockets won the two titles after MJ left. When MJ came back they went 72-11 and won the title three more times. No one like him. He was drafted in 1984 but injured his foot and could not play the whole year.
Yes he basically, missed .75 percent of the regular season in his second year due to injury and 1.75 percent of games during his retirement which is about one whole season and 3/4 of the next regular season games. Many count them as full seasons (15), but in actuality, along with the Wizards years, in which he missed about .25 percent of the year due to injury, he accomplished everything in approximately 13 full seasons.
Michael Jordan is the only player in NBA History to be Defensive Player of the Year and NBA Scoring Champion in the same Season! Michael Jordan led the NBA in Scoring 10 of his first 13 years! Michael Jordan has 10 Scoring titles, 7 of those titles came in a row! 3 Steals titles! Michael Jordan is ranked 4th All time in steals! Michael Jordan was the first of 3 men to ever have 100 blocks and 200 steals in a season (Hakeem Olajuwon and Scottie Pippen are the other two) However Michael is the only man to do it twice! To put this in perspective of how great he was early in his career in the 87-88 season Michael won the Defensive Player of the Year, Michael won the League MVP, Michael won the Steals title, Michael won the Scoring title, Made the All NBA Team , All Star Game MVP, and Averaged 35 points a game! and an NBA All-Defensive First Team Selection, he ended his career with 9 NBA All Defensive First Team Selections those are the most selections in history and he shares that title with Gary Payton, Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant!
Dude is asking if MJ is good on defense lmao. 9x all defensive first team and 1x defensive player of the year. now tell me if he's good on defense or not? 🤣🤣
Good at defense? He was the Defensive Player of the Year in 1988 (and the scoring leader with 35+ points per game). He also led in steals for three years and was a part of the NBA's first defense team nine times. At the age of 39-40, he neutralized Vince Carter when playing for the Wizards. In my opinion, he could be the best defender every year if he didn't focus on offense. He's capable of anything he wants. When he played as a point guard for several dozen games, he almost averaged a triple-double per game. He could have 8-9 rings: +1994, 1995, 1999.
They tried so many times to double-team team even triple, but MJ is just so lethal because of his quick 1st step, no one can challenge him and so they failed to guard him
Whenever they double teamed him, the rest of the team had atleast one person open. Pippen was basically jordan lite, paxson/kerr would be open for a shot, and another teammate would be close to the rim if he was driving. It was a lose lose situation, but theyre not going to make a mixtape of jordan passing the ball during double teams :P
@@fitzroy6970 pip was the best sidekick Jordan could ask for. Perfectly molded by Jordan himself. Don't know what your objection is, unless you misunderstood me somehow
MJ basically have no weakness. Fundamentally sound. Talented but trained hard as hell. ALWAYS IN THE ZONE. Every game he lays it all on the floor. The closest weakness we can say is probably his average 3 point shooting.
I love it when you’re young guys are stuck when you can’t talk because you’re watching Michael Jordan do things that has never been done. It will never ever be done again that’s why he’s the king of everything MJ exam bless him as what he is God my brother if you don’t know now, you know ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
My brotha, first, his favorite ring would be the fourth mainly because he won that on fathersday after returning from retirement. He cried on the gym floor for a good 3 to 5 minutes holding the ball as teamates celebrated, then tried to console him. Second, the highlights literally walk you, in timeline, thru his career. Third, he was the best overall defender I've ever seen. He terrified most if the league because not only could he outscore anybody but he could also shut the other teams top scorer down while doing it. Didnt happen often but when he got a bee in his bonnet, look out. They usually wanted him resting on defense which is why a lot of the shiwn defensive highlights are him coming out of nowhere to shut someone off from the hoop.
It's funny with you mentioning the "Michaels and Mikes". Gen Xers will always have that special perspective to have seen all of them from beginning to the height of their careers LIVE. Not only that. They got to see the 80's Lakers/Celtics76ers era. The Yankees double 3 peat era. BOTH Star Wars eras. LOTR. All the Terminators...aliens... Cowboys..Bears...dominate eras....ect ect ect.... They saw it all original and LIVE. So you have to understand when they are not that impressed by the quality and state of the NBA and other things these days. They have witnessed the undisputed GOATS in person...not highlight reels. Juss sayin...
I hear you I still got to experience my Yankees and Star Wars prequels and the OG trilogy but I was born in 88 and a kid I seen Terminator 1 and 2 and aliens I seen a lot of classic movies actually
Funniest part of this reaction was when you said why don't teens just double- team him and right as you were saying that he is splitting a hornet's double team LOL LOL
"Was he good on defense as well?" - Michael Jordan was THE BEST 2-way player OF ALL TIME. 9 time ALL NBA Defensive 1st team. 1987-88 Defensive Player of the Year. Led the league in Steals and Steals Per Game 3 times. Most blocks by a guard in a single regular season (131). Most blocks by a guard in a season + playoffs (142). Averaged 6.2 rebounds per game for his career as a 2 guard in an era where Centers and Forwards dominated rebounding. The technology already exists to upscale and enhance this footage. I'm shocked no one has taken the time to do it.
"So why didn't teams just double team him? I know you're a young guy and you don't know lol, but what makes you think they didn't. They tried double and triple teams at time hell detroit made a set of rules to beat the shit out of him whenever he attempted to go to the basket.
I have watched since 1971. I saw Jabbar, Dr J, Bird, Magic, MJ, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron until now. Magic was my all time favorite, MJ is the all time goat. There is Jordan and then everyone else, no question.
Jordan has dunked on almost every Hall of Famer from the 80's and 90's. That includes Shaq (yes, he got Shaq), Ewing, Mutumbo, Olajawon, Barkley, David Robinson, Bird, and Dr. Julius Irving (Rookie year against 76ers). The reason they couldn't double team Jordan is because of Phil Jackson's and Tex Winter's triangle offense. That prevented teams doubleteaming Jordan. Jordan used to get double teamed all the time between his 3rd and 5th years, especially with the Pistons. When Phil Jackson took over as head coach in 1990, he implemented the triangle offense to deter defenses on double teaming Jordan. It also helped that Pippen became a good player, Jordan bulked up (and never quit), and the Bulls started playing better as a team. I believe that the only player that was ever capable of guarding Jordan was Joe Dumars.
Watched NBA since 1980 and I’m a Magic fan but when Jordan had his 5th ring I had to admit he was the goat. Just think we saw Magic/ Isiah Thomas at PG, MJ & Dr J at SG, Bird/Pippen at SF, okay weak decade at PF guess Barkley/Kevin Mchale but Kareem/Moses Malone & Hakeem at C. Name a decade with GOAT contender at 4 of 5 positions.
There's other videos of him doing nothing but revers layups with the right hand and off hand. Dudes bag was deep. He had alot more highlights than just dunks. Also check out Michael Jordan Voyager Rare Video.
3:16 Yes, most definitely. And on top of that his gigantic hands allowed him to have superior control of the ball. MJ has been blocked mid air and still get shots off. Insanity. 3:54 Gerald Wilkins, John Starks, Gary Payton, Reggie Lewis, Clyde Drexler, Joe Dumars spring to mind that could slow MJ down. Now of course we all know MJ overall destroyed his opponents, but giving the respect that’s due - there were plenty of great perimeter defenders that could give MJ trouble. Overall in a series though MJ was basically unstoppable. 7:20 MJ was elite defensively, easily top 3 perimeter defenders ever. Great on ball defense, help defense on centers, closed down passing lanes… he was basically Deion Sanders out there. 11:23 My choice as the best 2-way player ever, which means he’s my GOAT. Haha.
He was All-Star game MVP three times and Defensive Player of the Year. He was all-defensive first team nine times and the NBA scoring leader 10 times. He led the league in steals three times and was All-Star slam dunk champion twice.
@@DollarBoiEnt He came back at the end of his 2nd year of retirement when the Bulls had, I think, 17 games left in the regular season. They made the playoffs but ended up losing to the Magic. That's when he was wearing the number 45. The next year, he went back to 23 and the rest is history.
Bulls would’ve had 8 if MJ didn’t retire to play baseball. The 1994 roster was going to be the Bulls best roster of all their teams..everyone in their physical and playing in their primes MJ Pippen Grant BJ Kukoc etc etc. I say they win 75 with a chip in 94
I respect your humility. From the beginning to the end I have enjoyed your reaction to the film. In my humble opinion Michael had everything. He is the GOAT. No one ever has elevated the game to this level of poetry in motion. A true master of the game.
Kobe was almost a twin to Jordan and Wade. Wade imitated Jordan because he was from Chicago. Watching the Knicks playoff games against the Bulls are some of the most exciting moments! Jordan would not let them win and he willed his team to win. He expected it and they delivered.
As a lifelong Knick fan, Jordan haunts me day and night for keeping Ewing out of the Finals all those years. That spin move off Oakley and Starks to throw it down on Ewing kills me every time. He was unstoppable all he wanted to do was win. You could double and triple team and he would still find a way to dominate. He won defensive player of the year. So, yeah, he was pretty good on defense. I saw Bird and Magic play. I saw Jordan's entire career. I've seen all of LeBron's. Jordan is the GOAT.
“Was he good on defense as well?” Lol Jordan is arguably the greatest perimeter defender in league history. Certainly the best defensive player at the guard position.
18:27 You don’t understand man. Teams double teamed him, triple teamed him, tried beating him up, beating him down, they tried every and anything. MJ was just that unstoppable. All that stuff did was make him better, stronger and more ferocious. And answer to your earlier question about defense… Dudes don’t win defensive player of the year and first team all defense multiple consecutive years for nothing. He was also a lock down defender and one of the best defenders in the entire league!!! GOAT 🐐
@@DollarBoiEnt thanks you wont regret it two of the most important players in nba history. They save the nba when it was on its knees literally. The league before bird and magics rivalry was full of cocaine addicts , fights , tape delayed finals , no sponsors , attendance was in the toilet and college basketball had higher numbers attending. Larry and magic saved the nba not jordan but jordan did make it a worldwide phenomenon. If you like both mixtapes then the 4 part documentary on the two is called a courtship of rivals and its probaly one of the best sports documentaries i have seen and im a massive football (soccer) fan from ireland. Slainte from 🇮🇪.
Took an entire team to slow him down. What made MJ great were his actual skills. The way he moved without the ball, how he dismissed defenses with decisive moves, his efficiency, etc. As Kobe said, MJ was surgical and efficient, so he made the game look easy which is a very difficult thing to do. And he did it in the toughest defensive era in NBA history. GOAT.
I feel old seeing all these young RU-vidrs that haven’t seen Jordan play live. Those of us that seen him just know. Jordan was the best of the best. Even today there’s nobody that can touch him. It was like a man playing with boys. There’s no doubt he’s the goat
Wanna know how good of a defensive player he is? He's a 3 time steals champion and won a DPOY award in an era full of big men. And he's also ranked number 3 all time in steals by a guard.
Meet the G.O.A.T of all G.O.A.Ts we call him Air Jordan, His Airness, Flight 23 or simply the greatest basketball player in the history of the game. #23.
Unguardable I witness his Airness his dominance his Championship his will to win at all cost. No one and I mean no one in this era would beaten MJ to Dominate
In the 80s, they double-teamed him the entire game, and he still managed to score 32-37 points per game. However, in the 90s, Bulls coach Phil Jackson introduced the offensive triangle tactic, rendering this defensive approach useless. Furthermore, the Detroit Pistons employed the 'Jordan rules' in the late 80s and in 1990-a robust defense marked by numerous hard and illegal fouls in an attempt to 'stop' him.
If you would have watched Jordan back then every night you would know Lebron isn't even close. These highlights were something that happened most nights he played. I'm not even a Jordan fan i am a knicks fan but i got to respect how he dominated.
JORDAN WAS JUST AS GOOD A DEFENDER AS HE WAS ON OFFENSE HE WAS NOT ONLY LEADING SCORER, HE ALSO MADE ALL DEFENSIVE TEAM YEAR AFTER YEAR. INFACT IN ONE SEASON HE WAS LEADING SCORER, DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AND MVP!
When you're Black Jesus, not only do you not walk on water cause you prefer the air, but you don't respect no one. Rivals were mere mortals compared to Michael. He instilled fear like Rambo in camo gear. Temperament Jake LaMotta ragin' bull mercurial with the maniacal mental of killers in serial. His Airness aka Chupacabra - he who disemboweled GOATs.
Only 2 shooting guards have ever blocked more than 100 shots in a season..Dwayne Wade did it 3 times, But Jordan did it 7.(Dude could palm a pumpkin and hold it with ease). But that game -winning clucth %? Best in NBA history-A true nightmare of a guy to play against who would dominate in any era.
Lebron is your favorite player...that doesn't equate to GOAT. People get that mixed up. In 11 seasons, Jordan missed 3 games. He played all 82 9 seasons. Missed 1 game one year & missed 2 games in the other. MVP, scoring title & DPOY in the same season. 10 time All NBA 1st team. 9 time All NBA Defense 1st team. 10 scoring titles. 6 Finals, 6 Trophies & 6 MVP of the Finals. Only 4 times did someone win scoring title, MVP, All NBA, All NBA Defense & the Finals trophy w/ MVP of Finals in the same season, in NBA history. All 4 times by MJ. My favorite player all time is Larry Bird. The greatest IQ in the sport of basketball ever...but MJ is the GOAT. No question. Cool reaction....Liked!
Allow me too crack ur cranium n fertilize ur brain “not only is Jordan the greatest basketball player to EVER play…he very well might b the greatest too ever play ANYTHING!!!!” He is #TheOneAboveAll
I appreciate your candor whem explaining you didn't watch the game during his era, but it shows. He won 10 scoring titles and was all-defensive 1st team 9 times. That's something nobody will ever accomplish, especially with the current rules, load management, subdued competitive fire, etc. Him and Hakeem are the best 2-way players I've ever seen and it's not even close!
Jardan was almost as mazing on defense as he was on offense, He won defensive player of the year in 1988 and was always in the top 3 voting on that, and 3 steals crowns.
You asked "was there anyone at that time who could guard him then or was he unstoppable?" Well, young man, yes he was unstoppable and no one from ANY era could stop him! They played much more physical defense back then and he still just took people to task, so yeah, he was pretty much unguardable. The mental toughness, and competitiveness would have made him great even with average athleticism, but combine that with one of the most, if not the most, athletic and graceful humans to walk the planet and you get basically a superhero! The closest to him was his clone, Kobe Bean Bryant. Those two were just on another level in my opinion.
Was MJ a good defensive player? lmao. Now I understand why some people think Kobe or Lebron could be better. And I'm not hating on Kobe or Levron, Kobe was close buts its levels to this. Btw Magic is my favorite player and I was mad at MJ for years after the 91 finals ,but its Mike 1000%.
Jordan had one league defensive MVP made NBA first team defense nine times was the first player in NBA history to get 100 blocks and 200 steals in a season. He did that twice while leading the league in scoring. 10 scoring titles also was one of two players to score 3000 points in a season while leading in a defensive category.
MJ won the MVP and Defensive player in 1988. Check it out. He was and still is the G.O.A.T.🐐. And no one came as close but Kobe Bean Bryant. That’s why he’s my number 2. Player.
I watched jordan live everytime i could hes just amazing an no one can compare to his greatness and how he dominated on the court lebron is great but he's not close to how amazing Jordan was
