That magnetic pin design really is super cool and unique. I love how creative you are with these projects. Every new one I see is interesting and beautiful.
Same. Between this guy, and FZ-making knives; only thing I like about FZ better is that he makes his own billets resulting in some beautiful carbide patterns like wootz Damascus and actually closer to true Damascus instead of this pattern welded steel that people call Damascus today. But the quality and detail of the work from both is absolutely amazing 🤩 only thing I think he could have done better was either putting in a line lock or some other automatic locking mechanism. Having to take out that magnetic pin and put it in as a lock is kind of meh IMHO especially since if you ever lose that PIN using the blade wouldn't be safe. Outside of that it's gorgeous.
Hey Koss, for your surface grinder turn the parts in an angle, so the wheel doesn't touch the parts for too long, because 1. It can burn them 2. It will decrease your wheel longevity. Plus it is putting a big load on the wheel. So it is better to do like you do only for the finishing passes( 0.0004"-0.001") and do the roughing like i explain. As for the lathe, since you are using a carbide tool, turn your RPM up ( for carbide a 1 in dia. would be around 1500 RPM, so for a 1/2" Dia. Its 3000 RPM, for 1 1/2 Dia its 1000 RPM. and using HSS tool decrease that four time. All that is for 1020 steel) Or if you can't try using High Speed Steel (HSS). Its cheaper and for your Kind of work its better. But anyway, nice job budy! Love your videos!
I have watched many of your videos and never commented but I must today for you are great at your craft sir. Every time I push the play button and your video starts, I sit here in my head saying how much I would love to create such awesome blades. It would be great to find someone with your skill to train under some day before I am too damn old. I have always wanted to create knifes and swords since I was a child. So thank you for your art because it inspires me to take up the craft more and more with each video. You're great dude!!!
thank you, it is pleasure to read your kind words. not so long ago my childhood dream turned into what I am doing now. sometimes it is hard, but new projects always bring more pleasure than the effort spent on it. good luck.
One might say this is a.... clever cleaver.... I'll see myself out. XD But seriously though. That's a pretty cool design that might make for a good camping knife.
That's pretty cool. You see a lot of folding style cleavers that are small and just a regular pocket knife but this is the first actual folding cleaver. This is something I would want for my camping kit or my kitchen even
Cool. Magnetic pin is interesting, but no stop pin to keep the blade edge from smashing into the scale spacers!? Going to have one huge dent right in the cutting edge.
Man I really want these and being asian gives me that "your made for me" feeling But seriously I really love this knife it could help alot specially since traveling and cooking are my primary hobbies
Table grinder new to you? I don't remember seeing you use it before. Great looking folding cleaver and a wonderful job making it!! Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
i love the concept and the magnetic pin, i just wish it was a tad smaller. anyone using that for any length of time as a cleaver would have a horrible hot spot
Absolutely love the design of this knife, just not crazy about how it locks in place with the magnetic pin, what happens if you loose that pin....just think there needs to be a better way to lock it open.
