@@The_Racist_Stonerobviously not if you can see he is visbly holding back while trying to cut the paper you can see it in his others videos as well if you actually take the time to inspect him trying to cut the paper it becomes extremely obvious
Are you the kind of person who believes anything you want to believe? Because you seem like one to me. @@kobeproductions22 You can clearly see he's trying to cut the paper, and it doesn't work. He's not a dummy who just tears the paper anyways, after seeing and feeling the edge won't cut into the paper. But hey, you do you; believe what you want. lol I am not here to argue with naysayers anyways.
Ikr I gotta buy new knives each day dude they just waste away in a day. That's 500 per day my boy but I can't stop because I gotta hold on to the dream man. Gotta.have.knives.
Literally a knife killer. For a reference knife would be sharper if you dont sharpen it for 5 years, than after 5 days of using one of this inventions, + you ruin the blade for good, it equivalent of cutting on metal surface like the one in kitchen.
Still.. its better to buy knives for 30-50$ and sharpen them for 3 minutes and change them every 5 years, that sharpen expensive knives every week for 30min lol Talking only about home use in the kitchen ofc :)
I have a bunch of these type sharpeners but rarely use them, Only if I cant use a strop or a steel on it, Then i might give it a few passes on the stone and go back to the steel/strop. Then these are kinda last resort like if I'm out in the woods with only that. Just because they're light and compact. But otherwise i agree

@@joshsinglefooterno. Pull through a are already set on an angle and instead of grinding off evenly and sheer off the face from both sides. It’s sharp from all the tiny jagged edges and not a flush thin edge
@@joshsinglefooter the pullthrough design itself is simply not good for maintaining a straight and even edge. yes it puts an edge on the blade, but its jagged and ripped up even after strop. youre always better off just getting a stone.
@your_favorite_ranger im no expert but those wedge sharpeners take some of the metal off the blade when sharpening. Over the long term you will not have any blade left. A wet stone, on the other hand, re straightens the bent/dull blade
@@wideputinofficial9094You are completely wrong with everything you just said. To sharpen any knife you have to take material off of the blade. When you need to sharpen a knife, you use for instance, a whetstone to get rid of the old edge and create a new one. The reason why the sharpener shown in the video is bad is because it takes off way too much metal as compared to a whetstone. The only reason it was able to be sharpened quickly is because it took off way too much metal.
@@your_favorite_rangerit makes many many micro bevels, the v notch removes a lot of material also. It will require you going down to a low grit stone and working up grits to get the edge back and then stropping of corse
Plus it’s well understood that carbide knife sharpeners remove way too much metal and don’t produce long lasting edges because they use the burr to cut.
Field sharpener*…. This is not something you want to regularly use on all your knives at home…. at home where you have access to things like a spyderco sharpmaker, a belt sander, actual sharpening stones etc you should use these things….
@@boopieboi439 depending on what grit… you can use an extremely fine grit to prevent this. You can take too much metal off a knife with stones as well depending on the stone.
@@nickgates4387using a belt sander is stupid, good way to ruin the temper on your knife and the edge if you dont know what your doing. Most people that sharpen on a belt sander use a jog and constantly stop to dip the knife in water to prevent ruining the temper
People really forget the purpose of these pocket sharpeners and pocket knives. Idc if the blade on leatherman is gonna wear out 6 months sooner than the dude who only uses stones. If im on a job and my blade is duller than i need then this tool works perfectly for a fast sharpening and quicker finish on the job
@thecrazyhobos Bro whetstone fanboys are fucking crazy. Yeah, they're better, Idgaf. I'm never spending more than $50 on a knife *set*, I don't need a whole ass setup to sharpen the damn things
And you are one of the stupidest humans on earth. No sane person would use a microscope to sharpener knives. Especially if you’re a real man out doing real man work.
@@ffrreeddyy123456 make me a bet say a couple thousand dollars that I can’t do what I say I’m doing. That will be very easy for you to do if you believe your own BS. Have a great day thank you for watching.
Brad ! It looks like a lot of the Viewers of your channel would like you to tell them name of your knives you are sharpening along with the knife steel thank you !
I like these, but my truth is they'll work well on cheaper, softer metal knives. I bought it to try on my bench made that's 152cm and it actually dulls it. I know stones are the best course of action, but it's way harder than your dad , grandpa, or hunting buddy makes it look to be
@@saldomino1639 I have only seen one knife that was almost impossible to sharpen in 19 years. It was a very thick 1940s Gerber military survival knife. It was very thick.
@@bradbuckner9496 I said it works fine on softer metals. It's 20 dollars for crying out loud. I have no skin in this? It doesn't sharpen my 300 dollar Benchmade because the metal is too hard. How dare you call me a liar. TURN OFF COMMENTS IF YOU DONT WANT THE TRUTH! If you read my other comments , I got a good edge on my Walmart type knives, but I also said,”in my experience “, I wouldn't use these on expensive, high carbon content knives. And I stand on that. It didn't ruin my knife, just dulled it a bit. I bought that rolling knife sharpner , then finished it with a strop and I can go from cutting hides to tomatoes, but I'm not going to cut tomatoes with my Mel Pardue
As good as me, well, I don’t know of any. But then I am an awful lot like Maverick top gun. You know, just do don’t think. By the way I went to that movie 14 times. Good movie. 😊
It is. It is the best friend for an ATC knife. Hunting hiking camping fishing survival. Just the best. I can even make a knife out of the back of a bandsaw blade in under 10 minutes. I have been shot from fingernail clippers. Cuticle scissors. All types of serrated edge knives. It’s just the best.
They do not sharpen the blade they ruin the blade and then sharpen it so it’s only good for emergency use in the field. Do not think cuz it works that it’s making it better. It ruins the blade we just can’t see it. No matter how high quality it is or how nice they are to sell it and teach you. They are teaching you wrong and selling you a product that ruins things while intended to fix it. It is meant for field us it should be marketed as such.
Thanks for the concern the thought watching and a comment. I have never cut myself while sharpening. I am really good at it. I have cut myself while handling the knives. Often I just forget to respect the cutting edge. Most of my knives are insanely sharp.
Not when you sharpen app. 240,000 knives in the last 20 years like I have. Anything that is handed to me. Thanks for watching. Thanks for the comment. Have a great day.
Thank you. That is because I am super talented at hand sculpting a blade. If you sharpen about 120 knives a day three days a week at least three weekends a month for 20 years, I am better than just about anybody can comprehend. I was a welder fitter fabricator master of building stuff out of steel for 45 years. Thank you for the comment. Have a great day.
There is only three types of people that think they could sharpen a knife in 60 seconds; the moronically hubristic. the intentionally deceitful. or those who genuinely do not understand anything about edge geometry (and do not care about destroying their knives)
lol what’s up dude. I see you in all types of different comment sections. I get a kick out of this bozo doing these tests. I have yet to see someone brave enough to hand that guy any decent knife.
And the people who talk like you just did, that are totally full of crap and probably have to use a microscope to sharpen your knives. And by the way you sound I guess you’re totally full of crap. Have a good day. Thank you for watching.
Carbide has a place in sharpening blades, just dont use it everytime. It works great to reprofile a blade, but once you've got your blade set maintain it with a whetstone for the love of God!
@@saldomino1639 Yeah I have a decent carbide sharpener made by Sharpenal in my sharpening kit. Works great, but if someone got carried away with it they could easily remove too much steel!
Well, my friend it sounds like you have a brain that has advanced past say five years old unlike these other folks. Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching. Have a great day.
That slight of hand on the first cut, he bends the paper away from the cutting edge to make it appear that its so blunt it just pushes the paper over 😂😂😂 i caught you!!!
That is because you’re ignorant and have absolutely no comprehension of how to use my sharpener. You’re just dumb. Thank you for watching. Have a good day.
I sharpen at least 100 knives every weekend at the shows that when pressed against my arm and dragged across my arm, only leaves a little white mark and will not cut you. I see him every day. Many people tell me they haven’t touched their knife or some kind of sharpening device in two or three years. But they just keep using the knife.
I use a worksharp guided sharpener at home. I'll never go back to a pull through sharpener again. The edge you get from a proper sharpening set-up is just great.
My teacher was a old master that started working in a meat market before child labor laws at the age of 7-8,he could use a oiled tristone thats actualy rather difficult. The best sharpener he said he ever used was the one on the back of a can opener in the 70s tho. I later qent to work in a sushi bar and diacovered the Chinese butter stone, absolutely spectacular, surgicly razor sharp.
“Oopsie I cut the paper with the already sharp knife before sharpening it on my 50 cent chinese sharpener, I better pretend the cut only goes half an inch deep”
Of course a gas station knife with a blade that is probably made of 420 stainless can be sharpened that fast; most of those knives are either 8cr13mov, or 420 stainless. You won't get a quality edge that quick, with a quality edc knife, that has vg10, s30v or d2 steel for the blade. These sharpen so fast, because they are made of soft steel.
I literally have this knife. But it's black where the brown is. It lasted me years (over a decade) before the screws finally started coming undone. It's funny how the cheaper blades tend to last longer. It's strange.
