kellz84 Great Question!!! YES you can use cooking oils or any food Safe oil. I use Olive oil while camping/ hiking just because it’s in my pack, However, when cleaning my knives and putting away for more than a week, I use Mineral oil because it won’t go rancid or mold. Thanks for Watching and Commenting. I hope I answered your question .
Survival on the SKinney awesome, yes thank you! Can you use mineral oil to sharpen your knife too? I'm really glad I found your page yesterday, my boyfriend and I have been looking into alot of different survival methods and you are very informative 💙 you've got 2 new followers!
kellz84 AWESOME and Thank You. I use Mineral oil on my stones for sure!!! The reason to use oil on stones is to capture the metal that comes off the knife before clogging up the stone with metal. If oil wasn’t used the pores in the stones will fill with microscopic pieces of metal which will render the stones useless. Thanks Again and have an Amazing Day!!
