These knives are up for sale at makencreate.net with free shipping.
I made a big batch of 12 very similar knives last summer that people really seemed to like, as they went pretty quick. So I figured it was time for a restock. Should these knives sell out as quick the last batch I will be making more.
Thanks for watching!

When the high pitch, sped up striking starts - that's when the real video begins

I love the blade shape, but gluing instead of making the end a little bit longer and hammer it down in handle makes it much less durable, especially in the cold climate, where glue cracks really fast. Nice video as always, i like shots of anvil ;)

I use it almost every day right now as it's very warm, and I'm always in a t-shirt. Mostly just for a quick measurement, nothing precise, but nice to have as it makes me pay a bit more attention the length and width of things, as I often tend to just work by eye. Also very useful for when reading stuff online that describes sizes. Quick look at it and I have a better sense of dimensions. Of course I could just use a measuring tape but it's not as fun ;)

What steel did you make these out of? I have a bunch of leaf springs in my basement but I thought about maybe turning them into swords but knives sound much more manageable
@S8tan7
@S8tan7 3 года назад
Leaf springs are generally 5160 or something similar, makes a serviceable knife and a good sword, but if youre thinking of selling them just buy some steel so you know what it is, and you dont get burned by a microfracture
@MakeNCreate
@MakeNCreate 3 года назад
They're made of 1084. Like choccymilk mentioned spring steel is usually 5160, it's decent and will take a nice edge but definitely more suited for larger blades as it tends to be a bit softer. For smaller knives something like 1084, 1095 and o1 are all very good carbon steels for smaller blades.
@S8tan7
@S8tan7 3 года назад
@@MakeNCreate silver steel also makes a cracking knife and is easily available in round stock, alloy is 115CrV3, gets screaming hard in fast oil
@kill3rbamb146

You should attempt a gladius blade if you have some spring steel. I used to have some myself and did a bunch of research, figured out any variant of a Roman gladius would be a good starting point for me. I wish i never slept on the project. Now i have no access to anything i could use to even get this spring red hot 🤣

I have a question, I noticed these knives do not have pins in the handle just epoxy? do you ever have any problems with the blades coming loose?
@MakeNCreate
@MakeNCreate 3 года назад
Never had any issues. Epoxy holds extremely well if everything is nice and clean beforehand.

Do you worry about the 1084 sitting in a leather sheath rusting?
@MakeNCreate
@MakeNCreate 3 года назад
@@hawk5148 Nope. If the sheath is nice and dry it won't rust. After wet molding I let them dry a day or two before they go in the sheath.
