I agree, the Trans Am was by far the best looking car of all the Knight Rider machines and the red shitbox doesn't do anything for anyone, but you have to admit, the music was awesome in this, and the banter between KITT and Michael when he reawakes is fantastic.
@@benaarsify Not only that, the red Knight 4000 car is not even street legal. It has no mirrors, no headlights and no turn signals. Plus, it looks more like an overgrown woman's shoe than a car that you could drive. Seriously, what was Russell Maddock thinking? Was he on drugs when he created this thing? Did he actually think that this monstrosity can replace the original KITT? Oh, HELL NO! 🤨

The Virtual Reality was cool....but I agree 100% with you the Original Kitt was far better. they should have kept the Original Kitt and just updated it's systems and add new things as they did in the original series. The Trans-am look still had the futuristic look to it.
I honestly believe that is better upgrade a design that create a new one (unless there's no choice). Imagine an upgraded KITT with fast access to internet and a lot of new gadgets.
It's like they were trying to recreate the scene from "Knight of the Phoenix" where they take KITT out for a test drive. Devon is sitting in the passenger seat on both occasions.
How on earth is this car "more superior" than KITT? The original KITT could turbo boost, drive on two wheels, drive through solid brick walls, jam electrical devices, imitate voices and withstand bullets and bombs. Plus, KITT is caring and compassionate and would NEVER hit a deer. All this red clunker of a vehicle can do is make pretty colours on the windshield in Virtual Reality... Whoopee!
This, in my opinion, is where Devon could have told Maddock about the mistake that Wilton made when creating KARR and should've had Maddock include KITT's humanity in the four thousand model.
Actually it was the voice of the guy who was driving the KIFT. He was so into the 4000 that he added his own voice for KIFT until Michael installed KITT's CPU into the 4000.
Actually Knightrider 2000 did fairly well though it didn't get past a TV movie. The car you see there is a Dodge Stealth modified to look like a Pontiac Banshee IV. It actually wasn't too bad a movie, and you were kinda supposed to hate the car at this point since KITT wasn't put inside it yet. :P
The bad thing about using a Dodge Stealth is that the wheelbase is wrong. It's too short. They should have used a 1991 Firebird and converted it into a Banshee.
It ranked in the top 10 maybe top 5. Without David who was about to relaunch Baywatch a series woudln't work but it still could have been like Perry Mason airing a few tv movies every year. Maybe David was too busy with Baywatch too even have time for that.
"We would have sustained no damage from striking that animal" It sounds like the car didn't care if it hit the deer in the road or not. Maybe IT(the car) thought about hitting the deer, but backed out at the last second. As Michael said in the Pilot ep. of Knight Rider reguarding KITT when talking to Devon on the pay phone: "IT. IT is an IT, not a HE. Don't ever forget that".
the original KITT was put in to this car latter in the movie, KIFT had all of the features of KITT but a new processor that was more like KARR than KITT hence Michael swapped the processor from what remained of KITT in to the 4000 body
It wasn't just that reason Michael swapped KIFT for KITT. He missed his buddy, KITT and wanted him back so of course he would toss out the inferior KIFT to bring KITT back to life.
They should've used a modern Trans Am as KITT in this film. That's what I'm gonna do for my KITT. But mine is gonna stand for "Knight Industries 10,000."
I hated the red car. They should have kept the Old Kitt and just updated him as they did in the original series. Kitt's Trans-Am look still had that future look to it. all the updates in the red car could have been put in to the Trans-am. I can bet his Super Pursuit Mode would have still been faster then the new police cars.
You dont get a real good look at the Dashboard in the actual car. The only time you see the instrument panel is when the do a back seat shot with the studio green screen. But the cameras never let you see the actual interior of the real car. At least with the original series when David Hasselhoff pulled up in KITT you knew it was the computer car and not a stunt car .
One of the knight rider 2000 cars was on youtube channel called videobob moseley, That shows you the car in detail, and i have to say from watching the knight rider historian channel, and seeing close ups etc of the original cars. It looks to me that this movie never had the budge that the very 1st pilot did. This car never had a proper dash at all, just a cheap plastic shell, where with some of the original cars, did have some sort of a working dash.
the Four Thousandi s a technically impressive machine and i hope it eventually found a place within the foundations' workload. The shell itself though? I get the want to be 'inspired by the banshee concept car' but hte banshee had a black chevron along the hood to break up the eye-searing amount of Red going on, making the four thousand's shell look less like a car and more like a clown shoe. Compared to the visually sublime curves anda ngles of the modified trans am that served as KITT's shell? A severe downgrade.
@Draknfyre I know that from the sound, pretty much everyone and their brother (or at least those remotely familiar with engines) that its a turbine, but if you look at KITT's wikipedia page, it actually states that KITT is powered by a *turbojet*, the same kind of engine that most jet fighters use. THAT I call BS on-- KITT may have been faster than triple greased lightning, but not even he was THAT fast (not to mention the lack of a fiery contrail every time KITT started up).
@ls1killa not quite. They wanted to use the Pontiac Banshee prototype.... BUT the 4th gen Trans Am on the way... said NO. So instead... they took a Dodge Stealth and modified it to look similar to the Banshee.

"Knight Rider [2008]") (in which [the new version of] "KITT" is [the] Knight [Industries] Three-Thousand): "that's the best one of all the continuations/sequels so far. keep it". they also tried to do it as a "re-imagining" of KITT (which, the only way i can see it and/or understand it after seeing the show is, "bring KITT back. but bring him back for the 21st Century").
I have to ask 2 questions here. 1. Why is the Knight 4000 measuring in km/h instead of mp/h? 2. Wasnt there a picture of the Knight 4000 or lets say its concept at one of the Semis walls during the original TV show?
There was a push at hte time for 'in the future everything will be metric' which... I honestly wish we'd comitted to more wholly, and no there wa no knight four thousand concept art as the banshee concept car that served as the inspiration for the hell didn't exist yet.
The scenes on the road look like a video edit made by fan of the show or something. Never seen this before, so it is a TV movie or something? I loved the original show.
Try again.... It is NOT the Pontiac Banshee. They wanted to use the Banshee and GM said "NO!!!!" KIFT is a Dodge Stealth modified to look similar to the Banshee.

Tyler Kelly I disagree.. this KITT eventually became the real deal with the old KITT’s voice.. so I would say the trans am and this car after trans am KITTs computer was installed
That car is actually a pontiac banshee. It never made it to production but inspired the last model years trans ams. I just wish pontiac was still alive. The next time you see a corolla or 3 series BMW of Lexus is smack that person. That don't know what a real sports car is
Devon was lieing through his teeth, you could tell lol and he was right That car lacked KITT's Humanity. It would have been better to put all the new stuff into The Trans-Am the orginal car. Hell over the course of the orginal Series they added news stuff all the time.
That wasn't KITT's voice in the KIFT though. That voice is from the guy in the driver's seat. The guy who designed KIFT. At this time in the movie, KITT was in mothballs (pulled apart and in pieces).

That voice of the car sounds snobby and maybe a little bit know-it-all ish. I bet Devon was lying through his teeth when he said the car exceeded their expectations.
Whoever gave green light to this movie should be shot. This was not the proper ending to Knight Rider. Where are the beautiful mechanics, Bonnie and April?! Devon killed? I know the actor was sick, but come on... A stealth car with bright red painting, great idea.
Because the people at Knight Industries claimed that KITT was antiquated and no good anymore. It was only Michael and Devon that stayed loyal to KITT and why Michael removed the voice of the KIFT and put in KITT again in the red car (which KITT loved).
If the called it Knight Industries Three Thousand, it would have benn another K.I.T.T. Nobody would like that. and you got the 3000 in the new series anyway.

Eh Hello you obviously have not watched the Knight Rider episode Return to Cadiz. If you did then you would have seen the scene where KITT was upgraded to go on water, if you have not seen it then I suggest you look at it.
That smarmy jackass lawyer giving the damn thing his own voice... why Devon didn't dig the real KITT's AI out of storage and transplant it into this new body, I will NEVER understand; KITT would never, never, *never* come close to have hitting that deer. And, uh, lawyer, did it ever occur to you that KITT could be upgraded to keep UP with the times? Michael himself proves it later when he transplants the dying KITT's CPU into this new thing.
The lawyer (Moddock, or whatever was his name) was the creator/supervisor of this thing, he even gave it his own voice (which he couldn't do to the original Kitt), he thought, it's time for a new technology and the "old" Kitt was obsolete (according to him), he was a businessman, their mindset seems to always come to "why update obsolete, when we can create it whole new?". That's the reason why. Kift was his personal success, something HE himself could be proud at, which he couldn't say about the old Kitt (updated or not). Michael later prooved him wrong, by installing Kitt into the body of Kift, but Moddock didn't seem to be glad about it anyway.
