seeing Devon here really makes it show how great of an actor Mulhare was. His expression upon seeing KITT in pieces, showing this to Michael unaware what had happened, guilt even, and then the seething anger that breaks through his business-like professionalism. Wonderful performance.
Ikr, why couldn't they have just deactivated KITT and put him in storage like they did with KARR? Thereby leaving open possibilities of KITT coming back into service again in his real Trans Am body.
@@AndrewChapman Exactly. There was no reason for KIFT's creation. If the foundation needed a super car, they could of simply upgraded the progamming on KITT and new upgrades to the car. That Trans Am was also the model that made the show into what it is.
They talk about the "Cost of storage" to keep Kitt. And yet they are standing in the middle of a giant warehouse that is practically if not totally empty. WTF.
THEY FAIL to understand that KITT and the Black T-Top are one and the same. It's just not a car. KITT'S body is also a character. You wouldn't replace Edward Mulhare or David Hasselhoff so they shouldn't be allowed to do that to the star of the show!
Not just that, to the left of the round steering wheel is an analogue dial, looks like a tachometer. KITT had a fully digitized dashboard. Lazy script writing :(
I agree completely :) I think they ruined the new Knight Rider not just because of the Mustang they used but also turning K.I.T.T into a transformer!! Since when did K.I.T.T do that??!! I thought it was pathetic, I found the original series was more believable than the new series that's what made the 80s series so special :) The new probably wouldn't have been so bad if they had a Transam in it ;)
Still kinda funny that Kitt is dismantled this movie but in the 2008 "reboot" show you can cleary see Kitt (2000) in the pilot standing completely in one peace.
The original show was lightning in a bottle. It was one of those things that had every perfect ingredient. The Trans-Am had a futuristic look to it. William Daniels was the perfect voice. David was perfect as Michael. The problem ever since then, is that people left out too many of the original ingredients when they tried to do the show again. Either the car was wrong, or the voice was wrong or whatever. The point is, it was one of those things that try as one might, it will never be duplicated. Not in the same way.
I know what you mean. To me, the original Knight Rider series IS Knight Rider. Everything else that came after just felt like poor imitations. Didn't mind this movie though.
I HATE it when they keep bringing back Knight Rider and never bring back KITT as we all use to know him as. KITT was a 82 Black Trans Am!, Not that Red POS in this movie that he later becomes, KITT was not a MUSTANG! I hated the new Knight Rider and missed the original KITT. Every time they have brought back Knight Rider it has failed horribly. I think if they are going to bring it back, they need to bring it back right. Stop trying to please the Fast and the Furious Crowd.
I'm still thinking.. had they put the TransAm for the movie and the 2008 show, maybe Pontiac could've been saved as a company.. :( I was heartbroken when I heard of their ruin. But how dares he dismantle that car! Blasphemy!
I love those Fast and Furious movies too, But Knight Rider wasn't about all that stuff. I personally think the best way to do it is to take it back to it's roots and go full Retro with it and bring back that 82 Black Trans Am that we all fell in love with as KITT. They could always put some modern Graphics in there and make the special effects better and all that. But KITT was bad ass for his time. Still bad ass. It could work. And put KNIGHT RIDER on the BIG SCREEN for ONCE!! It's overdue!! :)
In this scene, I really understood why Michael Knight was pissed cause of Russell Maddock having KITT dismantled, KITT still could make a difference. For people like Russell Maddock, out with the old, in with the new. Love it when Devon Miles lays down the law on Russell Maddock. Way to go Devon!!
I watched the Nightrider 2000 movie when it came out and many times since, and I've paid very close attention to this particular scene. The contents of the huge bin are supposed to contain KITT's dismantled body but if you look closely, you see a steering wheel from an ordinary car, and other parts that don't look even vaguely familiar. one of KITT's hubcaps or the linear shaped steering wheel would've sold the scne to me.
The idea around that, was Kitt went into a new body and had more upgrades? You are not going to still use the same systems, with out been upgraded, and there is only so far they could have gone with the old body. Newer body and a good upgrade of systems and software.
Point of Logic: How can a red car be expected to be stealthy anyway? Red cars don't exactly blend in, especially the Knight 4000. At least the 2008 remake used a black car.
To answer your fridge logic question, KITT has his hood arrowhead and roof painted black to break up the heavy red paint on the majority of his bodywork. In the Camaro homage Firebreather, only the restyled Firebird emblem is painted red to stand out against the black paint.
The trouble with the car being red is that KITTS iconic red scanner is almost invisible, making it feel even less like KITT. Something the 2008 version tried to fix.
The fact that it gets even worse when you realize that KITT probably felt so betrayed by who he once considered his creators and partners as they dismantled him. The fact is that he also most likely felt every single piece being torn off / apart and was probably begging for them to stop / spare him. In my head, I feel like he would have been calling out for Michael or Devon to help save him, only to realize that they couldn’t, or wouldn’t. It breaks my heart because you know he probably felt so alone as it was happening. Poor sweetheart. 💔
Quite right. In that episode, Devon is arrested and thrown in a state penitentiary, where he obv. escapes. He confronts the Maire of that small town. When the Maire pulls out a gun on Devon, he decks him. Nice left hook. Impressive.
actually Kitt is in fact micheals car.... in the pilot episode of the tv series when he is micheal long before he gets shot he is driving a black 84 trans am, which during micheals transformation is in fact transformed itself into Kitt it is also explain that even thought the car only bares a physical similarity to his its completely different with the modifications but he still legally owns it as it was a nd still is his black 84 trans am.... if you know what i mean

Devon, as the main person many people knew, was humble and respectful, yet knew when to strike at the right time. Killing and replacing him with this arrogant guy is something I have never gotten over to this very day. If a proper sequel were to be done, it must be done respectfully - to continue on the legacy of the storyline and show, not ruin it. It must be crafted out with a WELL-WRITTEN script by WELL-CHOSEN cast and crew, not a bunch of moronistic scoundrels.
And the year 2000 and came and went and we never saw anything remotely as advanced as the Knight 2000! Around this time I imagined the cars today would look sleek and powerful like the 4000, I would have laughed out loud if you told me we'd be driving hybrid jelly beans and boxes on wheels, and tacky blinged-out imports would replace American made sports cars in the racing arena!
another slap in the face was in the new knight rider pilot, you see the steering wheel laying on a table (if I remember right) and all dusty I want the trans am back, even though i'm a ford guy IT'S KITT
what i find funny is... they dismantled the car liek they own it.. however in the series.. it was michaels car, the foundation decided to modify HIS car with the upgrades... they did not own it.
When I saw this for the first time I was like: Trans Am ! Trans Am ! Trans Am ! Trans Am ! And then when I saw KITT in the Chevy I was like: No ! No ! No ! No ! But when KITT was in the Knight 4000 I was like: I’m out ! I’m out ! I’m out ! I’m out !
well thank's to David as he was the producer for this show. i sure hope they totally ignore this and start fresh with the original KITT and we need a big screen movie!! NOW!!!!!!
sadly pal I don't think that will ever happen, David has had the idea for years, but nothing has ever been put on paper at all. Can David bring michael knight back as the lead role again? David is about the same age if not slightly older that actor who played Devon Miles now. Plus William Daniels is about 92, so he is clocking well on now, so if there is ever going to be a movie, they have to act now as you say.
If you want to see a good scene of Devon really pissed off, I can't think of the episode title, but it's where some friends of Michaels get poisened by this rare orchid, and finally Michael himself does. Anyway, theres a scene at the foundation where they have a suspect that there questioning and he's a total ass, and Devon loses his patience and looks like he's about to deck him. I believe it's season 3 if that helps. He grabs him by the collar, scares the hell outta the guy, it's pretty rad.
Agreed.....they could have made an effort to persuade Patricia McPherson to join, IF they 'even' considered it! Personally, don't think she or Rebecca Holden were ever thought of. Sigh... Ty for at least giving us, David, Edward and William.... sad. Then kill Devon, why don't you. Just one of the character we love dearly.........very sad, indeed!
I agree Madock was a Moron for dismantling KITT. Michael should have punched him out for taking KITT apart like that. Shoot all the updated stuff (at least at the time of this movie) they could have put into KITT not the brand new ugly red car. Even tho later it had KIT's voice mod placed into it...The CAR just wasn't KITT.
Anyone notice the round chevy truck steering wheel in that pile? They could have at least used the real gulwing. None of those parts even looked legit. What a stupid movie. I'm surprised Hasselhoff even agreed to it. Heck, they shoulda used the new black TA for that time period!
That dashboard and exhaust doesn't look like it's from KITT. The TV in KITT is on the drivers side and in this movie it was curved on the right. And I don't think that exhaust is from KITT
I noticed in this movie that the Red car was able to drive or flot on water..I guess over time they improved on that Since Kitt's Trans-Am Days, I remember a Episode in the orginal series they testing Kitt on the water.
i remember thinking when i saw this part in the movie why not install kitts fully developed and bug free ai into the new car? and they don't give a reason why that wasn't done so, yup crap cash in movie
@shawnhbkdx90 Actually in that pilot theres apparently two trans ams; one partially disassembled and one together. Its unclear(but assumed) that one is kitt. Additionally, in one of the original episodes, it was stated that there was a backup body, though it wasn't used when kitt was destroyed so I take that with a grain of salt like half the gadgets we never see again.
The fact about the round steering wheel could be due to that it could have replaced the aircraft style steering wheel sometime between the end of the series and KITT's decommissioning
I know Flag created KITT, all the computer stuff that makes up Kitt, But I thought they had taken Michael's Trans-Am and put everything into it.(which they could easly do) and then added the molecular bonded shell to The Car to protect it. Later when Devon says it may look like your car but it isn't he was refering to the THe car it' self.
but everything else all the computer stuff put into KITT was not orginally part of Michael's Trans-AM. Basically saying on the outside it looks like his car but the inside with all the High-Tech stuff(at that time) was not part of his car.
Why they just didn't (oh, I KNOW why Maddock didn't) transplant the old KITT AI into the new 4000 body to give the more experienced mind a worthy mate in a stronger body, I will never know. Or better yet, why not just have made the entire project about remaking KITT for the new era, which is to me what happened when the ex-Pontiac got his new Dodge Stealth (in name only, I know) body. As smart and intuitive (and as sarcastic) as ever, and tuned and primed for any and all newcomers.
Don't know why this popped up on my feed, it may have only been a film and not a great one but when I first saw it and kit in pieces I really wanted to punch him square in the face he'll still do
@gothatway09 , The biggest issue with the reunion movie and all the remakes and so on is they didn't fallow what made the original series so special. they changed to much of it to update to today's audience and in the process ticked off fans of the original series. The only thing good about Team Knight Rider was the intro music and the two Women. the new Knight Rider just sucked as did the Reunion movie.
@torhjelm Hear hear-- KITT was a million times more badass as a Trans Am than ever he was as a Dodge Stealth, or Pontiac Banshee, or whatever the flying f**k that thing is. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car...but it is NOT, never has been, and NEVER WILL BE KITT. This movie was BS-- the ONLY saving grace it had was bringing back Edward Mulhare, The Hoff as Michael, and William Daniels as KITT. God, I feel like I need a shower after watching this. INSULT TO KNIGHT RIDER FANS EVERYWHERE!!!
