KITT is externally well designed, still looks good even today. It has the right forms and dimensions, first watched the serial in 1984 when I was still a kid. The interior makes me smile nowadays. Hope someone comes with an interior retrofit keeping the same principles but with today's technology!
It was certainly epic, legendary and unique. But far from perfect. Even de trivia-page on IMDB.com tells you all the mistakes that de crew made and that you can even see if you look closely.

Every car guy dies a little, specially her, doesnt know shit, i can read crap about it, but when you see the show, in the 80's 90's , that is a different story. Its fun a bit, when kids try to talk about comunism.....its hilarious and sad at the same time.
I think that other than it being a legendary car of epic proportions, the fact there's a classic and American pony car patrolling the streets of London arouses the curiosity of people used to seeing European and Japanese cars on the road.

if i were a milionare who loves cars, i wouldn,t fill my garage with lambo,s & Ferrari,s. The things i would fill it with are epic tv/movie cars. inmagine walking in your garage and seeing ,KITT, The A-Team van, General Lee, Corvette of the Face(man) ,Delorean from BTTF.
20/20 and that car is still so cool. I think it would also be awesome if a company or multi-millionaire built this car with present-day technology keep the same exterior look but stick the most powerful engine in it. and incorporate all the cool software and Hardware technology of today including a decent AI and self tinting glass

According to the show, the car is based off of a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. However, most of the cars used for the show were actually Pontiac Firebirds that were modified to look like a Trans Am.
That's a beautiful replica. Some of the modernizations are interesting. I'm curious. KITT's voice modulator was shown on the tv screen/ tablet. Does the replica have the voice modulator above the steering wheel as well? If so does it work as well.
I love the little subtle updates to the dash, just like they would have been done by the FLAG, too. I even love the slightly changed nose to show the turn signals and still keeping a good shape...
i was born in 96 and knight rider started running on our tv around 2000 in Sri lanka. Now im 24 and to tell how obsessed im with Knight rider i have recently downloaded all the episodes to watch it again.
KITT is the coolest car in the world KITT is cooler then a supercar and cooler then a hypercar I mean KITT can let rally talk like no other car can do that
They weren't all Trans am's either some were just Firebirds with v6 engines, as was the convertible 4th season version. A solid roof was a lot safer in some stunts. The camera made sure as much as possible you didn't see this.
K.I.T.T. always had T-Tops but yes, some of the prop cars didn't have the T-Roof on it. One of the Non T-Topped prop cars was converted to add the T.Tops and had the interior dash added to it could be used for on the road advertisements.
This is so far the best episode of Supercarblondie, nothing can beat a real K.I.T.T.! BTW, in Germany exists a K.I.T.T. replica too, but the steering wheel is not street legal, so the owner can use it only for demo rides but after that he has to change it to the normal wheel.
I would have love to learn a bit more about the systems, what else was simulated.. For example, today it would be possible to use GPT-3 (the neural network from OpenIA), setting the AI to be Kitt (just place the name), and the AI would talk to you about everything from the context of what Kitt would have said. (For context, GPT-3 is a neural network who has read the whole internet, mostly the wiki, so it knows how to make a fluent conversation from the context of any personality). This mean that today is totally possible to have such good IA that you can not tell if it is a person or a IA.
I remember when I was a child, how difficult it was to draw the KITT dashboard & control panel because the interior had never been shot as a whole in the film :D
I think i speak for many of us when i say that this was THE car to get back in the day (still is) If i ever get rich i'd gladly pay a vast amount of money to get a car like this.
