Thanks for taking the time to make this video. As for comparison of the two rifles I’d stick with a DI system (LWRC DI) as the Piston system isn’t swappable in field repair versus a DI system which is easily repaired. I love my DI’s and my Piston rifles but the DI system is also a much lighter and softer to shoot. The manufacturer based on innovation would also be the LWRC with its extremely versatile ambidextrous controls. Looks like and IMO the LWRC DI wins

The LWRC is by far what I'm going to grab during a when the "SHTF" scenario. First of all it has a nickel boron coated bolt, and it doesn't have to be cleaned near as often. The short stroke piston does most of the cleaning for you.

Bro... i take it u dont own either of those... but take it from a man eho owns several of each...jd never choose the lwrc, bcus the kac has so many features that this clown didnt even mention that make it run for so much longer and run more reliably... both my lwrcs have gone down before 5k rounds and my kacs havent even needed gas ring replacements despite all of them being above 20k. No one in their right mind would ever choose the lwrc.. esp not if they knew about nickel boron bolts... thats literally the worst thing u can do to carrier bcus they begin to chip quickly bcus theres no way to guarantee the thickness of nickel when its being applied and it works for such a short period of time that it makes it not even worth it. Lwrc is a good gun but kac is a phenomenal gun. Big difference in the 2. In a shtf scenario... u want a gun thats gonna last... and the lwrc aint that

If that KAC was any mid or low tier rifle company, the internet would be tearing it apart for such a shitty ceracoat job! For me, KAC may be the perfected mil-spec rifle, but that’s it. LWRC, LMT and POF think outside the box! Companies like these strive to improve the product; to make it a better, stronger, more durable and precise tools. KAC’s improvements are evolutionary improvements, while LWRC, LMT and POF are revolutionary. One is thinking inside the box, while others are thinking outside the box, with regards to improvements. Don’t get me wrong, KAC’s are great rifles that deserve their space, but in the end it’s a mil-spec rifle. The fact that Stoner worked their his ladder years is what carries the company weight. Today’s AR community has shown that many companies put out great mil-spec rifles now.

Regarding the ceracoat. I think you are on to something there, look how the mag release, bolt hold open etc. is coated on the KAC. Never seen that on any of the upper tier rifles I have handled. Looks like they took the entire assembled rifle and coated it all together. Which is very odd when you think about it. If so, did they also bead blast it before to remove any other coatings the parts might have had before? Or did they assemble an entire rifle from uncoated parts? Of course they might just be very meticulous and coat everything separately and then assemble it, but the overspray on the dust cover spring indicates that at least some parts were coated on the rifle. Anyhow, I don’t think it matters one bit in the end. And having an uncoated mag well is quite common, maybe has something to do with the tolerances. Ceracoating, as compared to other treatments like nitriding, actually changes the dimensions somewhat. All in all two very beautiful rifles and I would feel very confident in picking either =)

They did. They took a top tier (possibly THE top ar pattern rifle around) and just painted it FDE. I don’t think they were made to look good, and on the contrary, think they took cosmetic blems and painted over them. That being said, I still own many KAC rifles (including a taupe sr15), and would pick either my night vision setup SR15 CQB or my Nvg setup scar 16 or 17 sbr’s to protect myself if I had to grab one and run.

Both are great but the proprietary parts kill it for me though a barrel and bolt change would change that for the kac id probably take the kac and bring a few fn barrels bcm bolts and a gas block/tube as well as a bag of springs pins extractors etc. and be set for a good 100k rounds. Although I say go all custom I’ve been trying to decide between a twice thick fn chrome lined barrel or an hk Chf chrome lined barrel (on the sl8 g36 and hk416 which are available you just have to drop a grand and then pay a gunsmith to do some work) if the longevity reports can be believed the hk will still hold moa while the fn is shot out at 20k rounds. I own several rigs with fn chf barrels as well as other Chf chrome lined and nitrided barrels but I can’t find a definitive winner in barrel life.

Kac. First, nickel boron is nice and all, but it's just a coating. It can and will break down. Second, to the dude that said he'd basically bring another gun with him if he picked the kac, no you wouldn't cause none of the parts interchange. Lol. Lastly, I'd trust an eotech over the lpvo in SHTF (not that you couldn't swap that to the one you ended up choosing) but there just isn't enough data (torture tests etc) on lpvo to make me choose one of those over something proven. I would personally prefer a piston gun in a SHTF scenario though. The internal parts that move and function the gun stay cleaner, they run better as they get hot, etc. I chose the scar for this reason.

Nice to see that SR-15 is ambidextrous, as I like to get trained in both arms. The bolt is the thing that caught my attention though in both LWRC and KAC, but does the LWRC have an added feature towards the rear of the bolt that Does NOT allow the bolt to 'kick up' as the piston is moving the bolt back to put the next round into the chamber?? I enjoy your videos and you have excellent taste in firearms brother, but I’d choose the LWRC, its a proven reliable product by a reputable company and they do everything right and that’s what you should expect at the price points they sell their firearms for. Nothing against Knights Armament they’re well known for their history of firearms through military contracts and what not, but it’s something about the crapy paint job done on a rifle that sells for 2700-3000 dollars you’d expect more from a company like this and this isn’t the first time I’ve heard or read about quality control issues pertaining to Kac rifle’s and it’s why I haven’t purchased any of their products, instead I done research on what are the best proven reliable AR platforms that exude quality but maintains reliability, durability and functionality and Daniel Defense kept popping up. From the sopmod program with special ops guys running M4A1 blocks 1-2 and their rails so I purchased a Mk18 and DD5V3 and couldn’t be happier. I am however looking to get a piston driven AR rifle and narrowed it down to LWRC and PWS. Is this a real question? KAC is the premier AR in the market. There’s a reason the govt buys them all up. At 6 lbs vs 7-7.5 front heavy for LW, that’s a big difference when carrying all day long. That cerakote job on the Knights isn’t done by the factory, but their coating from the factory is still trash. However, you know what doesn’t mean a dang thing in SHTF, the stupid cerakote. I got a knights upper w/ the sandcutter bcg, and put on LW lower and put the first 3 rounds in a quarter. Not sighting in, not break in. just straight up crap ammo and in quarter, my LW has never done that.

And mostly 100% ambidextrous I would just throw in a maritime bolt catch But shooting on the left-handed I tried to use my thumb and depress the mag release like a radian lower for example on my radian I can get very fast reloads because of the boat release that you have on the right side for a right handed person it doesn’t really matter you can just use your trigger finger or your offhand and hit the right handed Release they have cutie set ups in perfect areas and honestly for where I would want one running a two point sling I’d like to have it more sensual so right in front of the dust cover at a 45 And on the end plate The LWRC I would get in the 300 blackout I do you like that I would throw the voodoo on the knight's armament I don’t really like the flu being twisted bowel design is something that appeals to me and I feel for more functionality like a bolt carrier that has a dual bring extractor like that it’s Harmon does they are a company that it’s an investment that you’re buying definitely some thing you want to never ever sell I don’t care if it’s your last day are on the earth you do not sell it I don’t care get a second job but you’re just throwing away an investment that’s going to be worth a shit ton for a good reason it’s all military forged materials rather than billet it’s proven in combat with the SR 25 and SR 15 even the original configurations they were one of the first on the free-floating rail system in a Arkansas figuration back in the day I’m talking 15 years ago or more

I’d go for the knights especially if that’s a limited run in 2019 of that flat dark earth if it was painted afterwards then I could see him being like yeah why is there shit on the flash hider the overspray especially for them but honestly it really wouldn’t bother me I’m just curious if someone had it Sarah coded after the fact or did it themselves to make it look like the 2019 limited run of those as far as I know but their gas systems are more than bombproof by having a tassel nut basically threaded over the barrel in front of your gas block so there isn’t any way that gas black is going to move in any direction and their weapons are beautifully gassed because the way their gas system is the fit on the gas block and using the wedge system and what not they’re not going to have gas leakage like you get on an overcast rifle maybe not 100% proper specked gas block to go with it but they were able to keep their gas systems nice and small which means less carbon Fowling and shit back in your face especially ran suppressed

I'm a fan of LWRC rifles, but due to their proprietary parts, I'd have to go with the KAC.. There are so many AR platform rifles using the DI gas system in the wild. So if something did happen to go wrong with the KAC, it would be much easier to source replacement parts. The KAC taupe cerakote job is pretty shitty though.. Still don't understand why KAC is doing just a mediocre cerakote job on a $3k rifle. But whatever. It's a tool, right? (still like my tools lookin' good!)

Is that KAC coated in house? Sometimes that'll be handed off to a side company. Besides, true operators use spray paint! This is a good and tough one. They both have strengths and weaknesses about equivalent in my eyes. They both have niche parts so finding replacements would be tough but the KAC has the benefit of the important bits being common aside from a bolt face. The LWRC definitely gets a point for a good sight option as an LPVO doesn't require batteries to be used since etched reticle. My choice probably would be the KAC all things considered because scopes break and parts break.

Wait so your telling me that for 3k you get a Ar-15 with direct impingement a lackluster cerakote coating and it's hard to find. Vs a good while a awesome paint job ambi controls is well spec out and cost a fraction of the cost as the other gun. Knights armament maybe good but not 3k good. It's just like Daniel defense ddm4v7. All your doing is paying for the name. If I had to choose between Knights Armament and LWRC. Has everything the Knights Armament gun has but at a cheaper price and it's piston driven not DI.Heck I'd take the Primary Weapons System MK 116 Mod 1 or 2 over KA. U literally didnt mention why the rounded lugs exist and their benefit, the thinner cam to make the actual bcg thicker and prevent breaking at the weak point of the carrier, the dual extractor of the kac with butterfly extractor and sprinco springs, u didnt mention the proprietary barrel and bcg to create more strength in the chamber... u literally didnt mention the fact that kac has a completely sealed gas system (the only rifle to do that btw) so u can tune it alone at the buffer.. and the muzzle break that cant get carbon locked.. also the fact that they chose not to do nickel bcus nickel chips off and destroys the bolts, infact i had to replace both bcgs on my lwrcs before the 2k round mark bcus they chip... kac chose the phosphate finish bcus its literally the most robust coating and doesnt get gnarled off while still being slock enough to run suppressed and get them to theor 50k round capability... where as the lwrc would be happy to make it to 10k U should have done actual research before presenting these. Channels like this where they see shiny stuff and think its good, bcus they dont have the experience with the weapons to make the choice... are whats wrong with the gun community. This is completely misleading bcus no real gun guys would ever pick that lwrc over an hk or a kac for ANY reason. And if they were educated on the rifles they wouldnt pick the lwrc. Just the flat tone u used when presenting the kac and the extroverted voice u put on with the lwrc is enough to change uninformed and uneducated peoples minds

I own both. Im taking the kac all day. Anyone grabbing the lwrc doesnt understand all the mechanisms that go into the making of the kac and why its longevity is unmatched. Ill have a video up on this very soon and i promise, youll change your mind. Infact the ONLY advantage the lwrc has over the kac is the right side ambi control... there is not a single other factor or part that the lwrc beats the kac in. And you said u got 1.5 moa out of the kac? Its a sub moa gun... u need to take a class and learn how to work a rifle. I say that respectfully
