At least they wear helmets unlike in other games or movies. And surprise, surprise! It works! You can actually reckognize characters because the have... DIFFERENT ARMOR! Wow, what an awesome feature nobody ever thought about before.
0:33 to be fair, if you had a literal army knocking on your door and the only reinforcements you get is one knight, I'd probably have the same reaction.
in reality, armor 'was' paper. None of it was ever mean to withstand a direct impact from a heavy weapon head-on. They were meant to divert/slow-down attacks. a Plate chest piece would stop a sword edge that was swung sideways, but if you rammed it point-first, it'd go threw. And even a side-on edge would sometimes bite threw the armor being worn. Combat armor was not some 1/2 thick piece of solid steel. You'd be unable to move, let alone wear that much weight for long. Its why most armor 'plate' unless it was for show, were only in vital sections. Chest, Back, thighs, arms... the rest were covered by chainmail, which offered 'some' protection from edges, but was still lighter than plate.
@@Gwydion_Wolf That's not true at all lol. Just watch a random armour test video. Swords don't even cut/stab through cloth armour. I've even tested it in real life because I own a set of Norman armour (England 1066 time period). I let someone smack me in the head with a plank of wood while wearing a Norman helmet and I didn't even feel it lol.
They wear all that armour and it doesn't even work! Just ONCE I would like to see something where armour actually does its job, and isn't sliced by a simple slash of the sword (which doesn't happen).
that, and realistic wounds as well Apolyon got stabbed through her whole abdomen THEN PULLED OUT THE KNIFE and she's still walking like nothing, she should be bleeding out on the ground after that
And you notice - that every time armour is penetrated by a slash, it never shows the cut, but the angle is always behind the victim. The reason they do that is for easier animation and the sight of chain and plate being slashed like cloth would look stupid - they know this. Back in the day (with "full harness" armour) it was so good, that they would have to literally "find the gaps" - slashing became useless. For every 15 hits you go on a knight, perhaps 1 would actually wound or kill - THAT'S WHY THEY WORE IT. This "one hit and they're down" imagery is stupid. Unfortunately the depictions of medieval combat have not really progressed since Hollywood 1950's B-movies. --- No realism.
Exactly. Most medieval fights between heavily armoured fighters almost always ended in wrestling matches, and death blows were frequently stabs or slices into the armour weak-points (such as at the joints, the neck, grown, etc). Rarely were strikes like the one in the video lethal because armour was -like you said - just that good. I mean obviously it’s a game so realism doesn’t take precedent but still seemed lazy that the strikes on armour drew blood.
Indeed. Kampfringen/Harnischfecten -- armed grappling using specialized sword techniques and/or a rondel dagger -- and weaponry capable of inflicting severe blunt force trauma through armor (flanged maces, pollaxes, etc.) were preferred. If the opponent is wearing anything more formidable than a gambeson/padded jack, you're really not accomplishing much worthwhile with a cut generally speaking. And even then you'd better have a nice, sharp edge. I guess telling the art majors responsible for designing a lot of these games that most armored judicial duels and the like often ended up with two exhausted men in full harness engaging in a really surreal spin of a Medieval cage match rather than a graceful series of spinning cuts and flowy flourishes doesn't go over well ;P
I like that the normal soldier tried to attack appolyon as well. It was also fun to see him and the big knight have respect for each other before they did their sneak attack. I like games where the npc's or these 'normal soldiers' are taken seriously and can actually do something against the usually OP main characters and not just always treated like canon fodder.
How to join the club: 1. Pretend u're surrender and start attack the warlord 2. Never give up when u're told to surrender 3. Just follow no. 1 & 2 or you'll die if u just didn't do anything to fight back lol
@@jbarral6509 They are knights not mercs, there is a wast difference between the two. Answer is simple, Blackstone is a warmonger bunch, Iron legion is sworn to uphold the peace, i believe you all can rot out the rest.
in this scene she have to play the tough bitch in front of all the men .... later in the game .. when nobody seems to see her she buckle form all the hits and cuts ... like the guy she saved ...
One day a small Country in Europe suddenly experienced an earthquake, everyone was confused because the country was not in the earthquake zone. It was later discovered that the earthquake had been caused by a noble knight's armour falling to the ground.
Because they we're in a Open battle, not a duel, if it was a duel she would have recruited her, but in a Open battle full of other guys swinging swords? Killing is more secure
2.50 Very impressive! The very latest technology... Rubber steal alloy! It offers the same protection as regular steal but will expand and contract according to its wearer's movements.
6:10 Now those Knights are real warriors! Warriors don’t wait for their enemy’s to execute them, Warriors fight to the end! In combat not on thier knees.
They faked a surrender to ambush. I have more respect for the men who understood they lost and likely would have followed orders making good troops for front line
Hey man for honor was badass no matter what way you look at it. The tournaments for it were super fun to watch too, very very cool game it’s too bad every one is so much more interested in mindless run and gun shooters that they copy paste every year or so
I never have a problem finding a match full of players to this day.. And the devs are still supporting it with regular updates and seasons.. To me the game is the best fighting game out there...nothing compares.
@@wadeklein8962 exactly, they prefer button smashing fighting games with no skill. In this you actually need to learn the game else you'll get slaughtered.
I really wish game studios would make historically accurate games, they can succeed! Just look at kingdom come deliverance, obviously they’re not gonna get everything right but it’s the immersive and authenticity that makes games great.
I put thousands of hours into it...got to top 100 in the world (ranked duels) with my favorite character Centurion. I'm done with the game now but it was lots of fun.
Yeah, I was literally thinking when they were surrounded where is the woman that’s coming to their rescue to beat up all those men. Poof there she was I got a pretty good chuckle.
As much I appreciate Apollyon, I could never understand what her endgame was. Perpetual war? Blood thirsty violence? Just wanting an excuse to die a warrior's death? Or to prove that violence will always be in our nature. I was left so many questions...
