Western viewers might not get the reference at the end to the piling of the banners of the armored German knights. At the end of WW 2, the Soviets brought all the captured NAZI banners back to Moscow and made a great ceremony of piling them in front of the Kremlin. So this scene subtly references that more recent defeat of the Germans.

What about the old Banners from Grunwald and Napoleonic era, what Russian do with them? It been amazing to find old writings in the new world leading directly old world towns, cities and church’s let alone old castle or fort with fortlet locations.

The strength and number of one banner or unit varied. There are detailed descriptions of how many were knights, how many were squires, and how many were "ordinary" mounted crossbowmen on horses.

Why, the narrator is giving this in English for all of us Ole Polish and Ole German descendants of Leszek III train the Ole Napoleon Legions in their history. Seeing Hulewicz, Myszka Warkowski, and or Radzwill Family Crest is awesome. How many remember the Grand Dukes tie to Piast and Duke of Anjou.

Les polonais et les lithuaniens ont battu les chevaliers teutoniques à Grunwald tanenberg en 1410. La plupart des chevaliers allemands ont peris ce jour-là et l 'ordre teutonique à été anéanti ! L' ordre teutonique était très riche, il taxait les forêts, le cuir, le droit de pêcher, même ceux qui participaient à des grandes foires étaient taxés, un vrai système maffieux !

Wspólny wróg w postaci krzyżaków był jedynym powodem sojuszu między Polakami a Litwina przeciw Jagielle często buntował się książe Witold pokonanie krzyżaków od razy mogło spowodować odłączenie się litwy z powodu zarzegnanego zagrożenia co prawda to tylko teoria ale może mieć coś wspólnego z rzeczywistością

I absolutely hate the fact that horses were abused and lost their lives in the making of this film….or any film in any country. Human arrogance and “bullying” of so called lesser creatures. We truly are the lesser creature.

The Lithuanian attack and organized retreat from the battlefield is an old Tatar tactic, which Vytautas the Great saw in the Battle of Vorksla in 1399. The enemy's cavalry line is broken up and then fired from bows while riding in a circle (so-called "carousel"). No commander will throw light cavalry against heavily armed knights. Vytautas Didysis was always there and led the battle. Jogaila prayed throughout the battle. The film script is historically inaccurate and misleading.

Do you have any source from the 15th century that confirms this "organized retreat"? No. There is no evidence of that. Not to mention about your "information" about Jogaila and Vytautas during the battle of Grunwald. Pure fantasy.

@@johnlironix2184 the source descriptions of the battle were described in great detail by the Chroniclers, including Długosz, as well as the participants of the battle themselves. Information about the period before the battle, and the battle itself is contained in several volumes. You don't know about it, so don't speak up and remain silent
